Snarky Brides

What are you reading? BESIDES Hunger Games:)

What are you reading, and would you recommend it?

I am currently on book 4 of Stephen Kings Dark Tower series- "Wizard and Glass" and I am obsessed. The first book was a little slow but now I can't put them down.

Also, an 8th book in the series is coming out in about a month. I am hoping to finish the rest by then!

  • Right now I'm reading Walk the Red Road ( The Whisper Legacy)

I've had it for awhile, but I'm in a reading slump. But I have a 8 hour flight come Saturday, so I plan to save it for then.

  • I just finished growing up Amish and Naked in Death. The Amish one is a memoir of a man who left his Amish family and the church. Naked in death is a mystery about a cop trying to catch a serial killer. It is fiction and I really liked it.

I may have to put this on my list. Once I finish what I'm reading now, I have to download a few new ones on my kindle.

  • Besides Mocking Jay (yes, still) I'm reading "Clean Eating: Recharged."  I'm lame.

For Lent I decided to give up processed foods so I downloaded this book.  It's good if you're trying to eat healthier.  I'd recommend if for that!

Does it have anything to do with the Wizard of Oz or is it a completely separate thing?

  • I just downloaded a short book on my kindle called Escape From the World Trade Center by Leslie Haskin. It's pretty heart-wrenching, I haven't read anyone's personal account who was actually in the world trade center. The thing that got to me the most was her talking about the firefighters, police and other volunteers going into the building knowing they weren't coming out. I would recommend it though.

I haven't read that one but I did read "Remember Me?" and really liked it.
  • I'm reading Brideshead Revisted.  I'm honestly having a hard time with this book, both because of the language and the story line.  It's starting to come together finally (about 1/2 way in) so I'll have to chime in on the next book thread to actually tell you what it's about and if I liked it or not.

I just read Feed and Deadline by Mira Grant, and I absolutely loved them.  Zombies aren't really my thing so I was surprised to enjoy a zombie series as much as I did.  I guess it's actually more about people and journalism and politics in a post-zombie world than it is about zombies per se.  But, either way, I definitely recommend these books.

Mira Grant is Seanan McGuire's sci-fi pen name, if you're familiar with her October Daye or Verity Price series (which are urban fantasies about fae and monsters, respectively).

  • I like what KD's reading.

I'm reading The Lotus Eaters by Tatjana Soli. It's okay. It's not bad by any means, just not my usual preferred genre. I'm only reading it since I met her at a writer's workshop and she autographed a copy for me.

  • I've been reading the House of Night series...it's probably a little juvenile for me, but I really like it. The books are quick reads and the story is a good one.
  • I'm readin gthe Agent Pendergast series from Preston and Childs. It's a little sci-fi and a little crime. It's got me hooked. I'm on book  or 7, and I think there are like 16 or something in the series with a few spin-offs. I can't seem to put them down.
