The sex before marriage arguments can really get overblown.  I can see why some people want to wait, and I can see why others would NEVER want to wait.  It's just a difference in preference, spirituality, whatever.  I think we should be able to talk about that sort of thing with a degree of respect for each other.

Yeah... that's uncalled for.  I really like aprov but that was kinda low of her to do that.  Maybe she wasn't having the best day or something but still that's no reason for name calling of that magnitude. 

You only call people ignorant twats if they are, in fact, ignorant twats - not just because they have an opinion that is different from yours.

I have never understood Aprov's appeal. Mutually, we don't like eachother. I think it was a case of a not great first impression for me. Almost everything she posts (which isn't much I've noticed these days) rubs me wrong somehow.

I just figured out what this thread was--color me slow today. 

I think the CCDaisy thread 1 was a bucket of weird.  The whole "you're new, why are you asking questions" thing is dumb, IMHO.  I get the rationale behind it, but just because someone isn't instantly recognizable doesn't mean they're brand new.  And, I guess, by that same token, I probably wouldn't have an issue if someone was brand new and started a question thread.  Why would I care what conversations other people are starting?

In a similar vein, that reminds me of the AKA thread AATB started a while back.  I forget who (maybe you, B?) came in and said something to the effect that everyone was doing it wrong. It also rubbed me the wrong way that the only contribution was "This is wrong" instead of staying and participating in the convo.  I find that obnoxious, but it's probably because I couldn't care less how it's "supposed" to be done. 

This is a half-assed flame as I am too lazy to look for the AKA thread and link it.  Sorry.

I flame Marissa Claire for saying that research proves sex offenders aren't able to be rehabilitated.  First, social science research doesnt "prove" anything.  It supports or does not support.  Second, the research on the efficacy of treatment of sex offenders is actually very mixed, with some showing efficacy and some not.  I wanted to say this in the thread but I was already really riled up and I knew getting on the sex offender subject would likely send me over the edge into bitchdom.

I do find this conversation amusing.....first the board is too "nicey nice" and "fake" but when someone isn't acting that way its a problem.  As I said to Nebb I've seen people jumped on for much less and much worse then being called an ignorant twat.  I didn't judge her looks, use a curse word, etc.  again I've seen much worse on this board.

Sorry but I find it extremely rude and ignorant to imply that people have premarital sex only because they lack self control.....and then try to argue using social examples that don't make sense.

See, it's one thing to disagree with other regs and have a debate about something. Even if it's a heated debate. I rarely see those resort to name calling. J&K is an awesome example of someone who does this on the regular. Wanting people to be honest and recognize the fact that we all don't have to love eachother is one thing. Wanting to be a board where name calling is the norm is something completely different.

It was just odd for you to kind of go off on this random. Did she say something that was less than cool? Sure. Was being called an ignorant twat necessary? I just don't think so. And yes, I've seen a lot of name calling on these boards, but I don't see a lot of it on SB.

This. It was my impression that Aprov was taking that whole argument personally, perhaps because it was her thread where this all happened? Yes, that poster was saying some provocative stuff that went against the grain, but she wasn't calling any of us douches or whores. I've used names in the past with inflammatory newbs, but usually I let them throw the first punch. Like with bee-you-ti-ful, who totally resorted to appearance bashing on Aprov and Kiki awhile back. At that point I think someone calling her a twat would be a foregone conclusion. Though even then I prefer other means of telling someone how much they suck. ;)

I think a big part of the reason why the tone has changed so much is because of a lack of random crazies. I could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

I know for sure people have been missing Bec and Cew lately.  I don't know what their reasons are for not being around as much, and I can't speak for them.  But they would be original migrators that people have been wondering about. 

AGAIN, I'm not saying WHY they're not here as much because I don't know.  I know Cew has been super super busy.  Just putting my observations as far as original migrators + posters that people have been missing lately.
