Good Morning!!!

Re: Good Morning!!!

  • It's Friday and due to vacations and class, I'll be the only person manning the phones and front door today.  We normally have a dedicated receptionist and a 4 person backup phone tree.  I wore my tennis shoes!  Let's do this!

I went out to the car this morning as I was leaving and H came out of the house.  I thought something was wrong, so I got out of my car.  Turns out, I had forgotten to kiss him goodbye, so he came out to give me a goodbye kiss.  So sweet!

This weekend will be HOT HOT HOT.  (Up to 100 today and close to 100 on Sat and Sun.)  I have my 2nd/last golf lesson tomorrow afternoon.  I have already noticed an improvement after 1 lesson.  I hope that I can do well and learn a lot tomorrow.

I'm with you on this one.  Every time H's sister gives him hell I'm all "WHY do you let her treat you like that?! It's ridiculous!" and he's just ::shrug:: "She's my baby sister"

[QUOTE]kd - we're skeptical as hell, but Jon's adopted the "wait and see" kind of attitude. He figures if he puts the effort in and his brother flakes out or does this to him again, he can walk away from things with a clear conscience knowing that he tried his best to help mend things. I'm an only child, so I really, REALLY don't understand the sibling dynamic. I'd have bailed on the b.s. a long time ago.

As the baby of nine, I understand his view completely. So, I do think he's doing the right thing. I would just worry about him getting hurt again, it sucks, because these people seem to be very controlling.

  • Pirate my h and I are totally those people too. We don't plan on having kids, so Molly gets all the attention, haha. I don't think she minds.

  • I definitely worry about him getting hurt again too. But like Pirate mentioned, there's still the sense of "well, it's my sibling" that prevents him from cutting that tie. I can respect it, but I certainly don't get it.

I tell the baby that he's going to be an only. That way, he won't have a dingdong sibling to worry about. ;)

Ha! And if he's like my son, one day he will cry to his grandmother that he's bored and it's all your fault!

My son informed my mother that he was bored and it was my fault because I didnt give him any siblings (he was about 8). My mother tried to keep from laughing, but was saying to herself, well about now I'm sure she's glad she made that decision.

  • I'm glad that I have siblings.  We fought really badly when we were younger, but now that we're adults it is much better.  We just don't see each other often because we all live in different states. I was excited for everyone to be together at the wedding but my brothers deployment won't be over by then.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Thanks for the suggestion. We'll have to try this when we are downtown next. It looks like a hole in the wall, which is good (all good Greek food places are lol) but I'm a little weary because they don't even have saganaki.

I can get over that though. They've got a spit!

I work with the public, and when we tell someone we arent going to help with an issue they are having, they sometimes get mad.  Thus the fuuuuck-filled letter, which is unusual- I've gotten a few EFFF UUUUUUU calls but never a letter.  My favorite part is "fuuuuck you for having no balls."  True, but hey, I cant help it that I'm a lady, bro.

  • I have a little brother, about two years younger, and we haaaated each other up until we were in high school. Then we realized, instead of tattling, we could keep each other's secrets and work together, and we became pretty good friends. I honestly can't really imagine being an only child. I'm not all that sociable, so it's nice to have built in friends, lol.

We have a HE washing machine, and most of the make-your-own laundry soaps I've seen aren't good for them.  Or they aren't any better for anything than the Method brand that we use.

I'd make our own dish soap except the only thing we really hand wash are wine glasses, wooden cutting boards, and cast iron.  None of which need soap.  (oh and knives, but they don't need much) I'm not willing to run home made dish soap through the dishwasher.

the recipe I found for dishwasher soap seemed pretty easy, I bet H will think I'm crazy though. Do you not want to run it through the dishwasher becuase you are worried about it gumming it up/ruining it? I'm willing to try it, but I guess I want someone to tell me what definitely didn't work, etc.

Also, good to know about the HE washing machines.

See, I can't wrap my head around having a sibling. You can't miss what you've never had, and I never even wanted a brother or sister growing up. I'm surprised I'm an only, though - my dad's got 14 siblings and my mom's got 11. Then again, maybe they just wanted a quiet house for once in their lives. ;)

I've just seen so many siblings who would drink the glass of water rather than pour it on their brother/sister if they were on fire, that I can't justify having another baby just so señor squash in there has a friend later in life. That, and I know I had way more opportunities growing up because there was only one of me and not two or three. I got to do things that my friends couldn't, because their parents couldn't afford to pay for all of their kids to go or whatever. Not that those experiences are any more rewarding than having a sibling, but to me, I feel like I was equally enriched, just in other ways.

ETA: we tried making our own dishwashing soap, and quite liked it. The thing is that we so rarely wash a whole sink of dishes that it wasn't worth it for us to make it when I can buy a $2 bottle of Dawn or wash a big load in the dishwasher. Our dishwasher is high-efficiency too, so we can't use the homemade stuff in there without having a major bubble problem.
