[QUOTE]just wanted to chime in on the fake tanning thing- I have used Mystic tan a few times- the booth. There should be 3 levels-1 being a very slight tan, and 3 being the darkest tan. I have had it recommended that level 2 is the way to go, and I have to agree. I am super pale but I never felt like it made me too tan/orangey but I always noticed a difference in my skin tone.

I did the mystic a few times and no matter how much cream I put on my hands and feet, they were SO orange. I tried the wipes they give you and everything. I was afraid to really wash them because I didn't want there to be a line from my wrists/ankles down. KWIM?

[QUOTE]Dmill- You'd be surprised. I work at a bank and there are people who keep hundreds of thousands of dollars in free checking accounts with no interest.

That blows my mind. With the ease of being able to transfer money in a matter of seconds, I just don't get why people wouldn't keep the bulk of their money in savings and get the interest.

I suggested a money market account for someone once and their reply was that they didn't want to have to deal with it on their taxes.

That's why I went with the airbrush tan. Bonus is it lasts a few days. I had it done on Wednesday before my Friday wedding. So it's something you could do in your area before you leave. Just a thought.

Edited: spelling.

[QUOTE]The scariest thing about preggly is, I honestly think she's real. Random. I just went down to the ATM to get some cash, and often people just leave their damn receipts sitting on top of the ATM rather than press no for receipt. Well I'm nosey, so I usually peek at the balance. There's one up there with a balance of over 36k. Who the frick keeps that kind of money in their checking account?

• I think I earned 60 bucks last year on my money market account, lol. But whatever, that's 60 more bucks that I didn't have before. Winning.

Good point. I might as well just do it one day earlier. I think I'll make an appointment and go tonight to try it out.

• Michaels grandma is the cutest lady in the world. She's always out shopping at garage sales, and about a month or so before the wedding she bought me a couple of bottles of self tanner just incase I wanted some for the wedding. (I'm indian, there's really no need for me to ever use self tanner) But, it was the stuff that is made for body builders. That stuff that is so dark it makes you look scary. Just for funsies I put in on my legs this winter when I knew no one would see them and walked otu of the bathroom in just my robe. I thought Michael was going to die laughing. So my only advice with self tanner is don't buy the body builder self tanner, or you'll look like this on your wedding day.

• I never have any money in my checking. Today is pay day so there is some in there right now but after I write rent, car payment, and cell phone bill checks there will probably be seven dollars in it til I get paid again. Any extra money I have goes to savings.

Eff my life I just remembered I have a car insurance bill to pay too. Life would be so much better without bills, lol.

• Has anyone used the tanning towelettes? I know someone was recommending them, but I can't remember who. I got two samples in my Birchbox, but I'm somewhat afraid to try them.

My hairstylist who did my hair for my wedding was a body builder and looked exactly like that. No joke.

• I always keep one pay periods worth of money in my checking account and then consider that to be 0 and put the rest in savings. I do earn interest on my checking, though. I'm really anal about my checkbook. The moment I get paid I write in all of the things that will be deducted until the next paycheck so there is always almost more money in my account then I think.
imageVacation
• Yeah I neurotically keep my checkbook balanced too, brandi. I always know exactly how much money is in it, to the cent. For a few months one time I would just round up when I was balancing so I would accrue a little extra cash in there but since I only use my checkbook for bills it just didn't amount to enough to make a difference for me.

I didn't even think to just have it cut out of savings, so I moved it and had it cut from checking.

My checking earns interest.
• I think my Mom does hers that way (rounding up). I'm pretty sure she's been doing it for years, so I wonder how much extra she has. I would be too afraid I forgot to write something in so I check my online banking to my checkbook daily and it would drive me insane to have differences in each purchase.

You people actually still use cheques?
• Our checking earns interest, but we like to keep at least $5K in it. It's our joint checking, though, so all the bills, emergency stuff, whathaveyou comes out of that account.
• I use actual checks sometimes, but mostly mine is ACH stuff so it shows up as an e-check.

• Yeah, let me kow, Brandi. It came with two samples and I was thinking about trying one on Tuesday, once school is out. It should fade by the following week, so if it's crappy, it doesn't really matter. But I'd like to know how it worked for other people and tips and all.

For bills, yeah. For some reason I just feel better about actually writing the check myself and mailing it instead of having it automatically withdrawn. Thinking about that makes me kinda nervous, lol. Even though it's more secure. My mind just works bizarrely.

Ben does automatic transfers on his credit card and on his school loans but we write checks for all our other monthly bills. I even write a check every week at the grocery store from our shared checking account, for our groceries. We're weird :)

• Morning! H and I have reached that time where OMFGeveryone wants to see us before we move since it's our last weekend in town. We've got a costume party to go to tonight, the theme is dead celebrities. I was going to go as Betty Page, but the DJ's wife is going as her, so I might go as Audrey Hepburn instead. Oh, and I want Indian food for lunch.

As for the siblings topic, I grew up the 4th of 5 kids, with two older sisters, an older brother and a younger brother. I can't imagine not having siblings. Sure, it was crowded when we were growing up with one bathroom, but it was cool getting to wear my sister's clothes when I got to high school, and it was nice having brothers to back me up when kids picked on me in school for being a skinny little pipsqueak. Plus, now that we're adults, I love spoiling their kids all the time. My niece is 14 and almost the same size as me, so it makes shopping for her easy, and she now gets my hand-me-downs. She loves it because I take pretty good care of my clothes, so it's like having a second wardrobe flown straight to her from Miami twice a year.

Mehg we had one bathroom too. My poor dad being the only man in the house... lol.

ETA - with every new baby we had less and less space in the house and until my parents built their enormous dream house at the new farm, the lack of space drove us batty. Three bedrooms is tight for six people especially when three of the kids are sharing one bedroom. And the old farmhouse had limited closet space so there was a lot of furniture in there. My mom was apeshit before they moved. But in the new big house everyone had their own room which was hard to get used to. In the old house, we would all say our prayers together and say goodnight together. At the new place it was just like, oh okay, everyone goes to bed whenever. The space was tight but it was sadder without the nightly rituals, lol. That and my mom couldn't just call out for dinner anymore. The house is big enough that you can yell upstairs and no one will hear you downstairs. They should have installed an intercom system, hah!

Yes. The antique store I buy furniture and accessories from prefers checks. Many of our farmers' market vendors take checks. We often write a check to the meat people. They don't accept cards because they want to avoid the fees.
