In Response to Re: There are some sick people : That's my point. There was never anything printed or released saying "Meg's Cousin Died Because A Cop Made A Boo-boo". They just left the story as "Local Teenager Gunned Down After Threatening Cop With Gun" ... and that's the story that people "just know is the truth" ... I and my family dealt with the internet comments after that, and there weren't people going around saying "You guys, you don't know the real story, maybe there was a mistake ...", just a bunch of ignorant people blowing up the news forums with "Of course he should have died, that's what you get if you're dumb enough to pull a gun on a cop!"

I figured that was your point, I just wanted to help connect the dots.    I'm so so sorry you and your family had to go through that.  Thank you for sharing it, I hope your point has now been gotten across effectively.
In Response to Re: There are some sick people : Ok, I didn't get through the rest of the post yet, so sorry if this has been addressed, but those appeals?  Part of EVERYONE'S due process rights.  Per the Constitution.  You know, the Bill of Rights?  All that good stuff?  There's a good reason they allow those appeals.
Posted by J&K10910
I'm fully aware of the a person's rights. However, when someone has been found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, all of the evidence points to them, and hell, they may have even confessed. There is NO reason for numerous appeals.

And before you bring up DNA evidence, yes, I am aware that there have been several cases where DNA testing has cleared prisoners. However, in this day and age, DNA testing and comparison is available. If a person is proven guilty in a court of law, why waste tax payers' money keeping this prisoner alive getting 3 hots, a cot, and free medical care?

You don't get what appeals are for, then, do you?  Because they're for ERRORS that are made during the course of the trial that would lead to the WRONG VERDICT.  Yeah, errors can be made that would cause an innocent person to be found guilty.  Beyond a reasonable doubt and everything.

Oh I get it. I get that in certain cases, appeals are necessary.

However, I also get that in certain cases, appeals are BULLSH!T. Prime example, the case where my first cousin was shot and killed in cold blood by her boyfriend in their home. Her 2 children witnessed this. Her boyfriend fled the scene and went DRINKING a and proceeded to tell patrons in the bar what he had done. However, when he was arrested, guess what his story was? He didn't do it. Now, let's review. 2 children witnessed this shooting. The gun was in his vehicle. With his fingerprints on it. It had been recently fired. Oh yea, and the residue was found on his hands. He bragged about the shooting to patrons in a bar. Yes, he was convicted. However he is now is petitioning to have his case reviewed and get a new trial.

Shall we continue?

Well thats how I feel. If someone killed my child, they should be killed. There is no way I am going to change my mind on that one.

And as far as animals...Some inhumane sicko puts a dog in an oven and turns it on...his ass is going right in that same oven and turning it up to 400 degrees.

According to Amnesty International, there are four whole countries to choose from:

The People's Republic of China
Iran
Iraq
Saudi Arabia

The US is fifth on AI's list of countries ranked by the number of executions carried out in 2009, so I wouldn't bother looking elsewhere.
In Response to Re: There are some sick people : Oh I get it.

While it truly sucks that this happened to your family, what would your other options be? Not let him appeal? Whether we like it or not, appeals are there for those that truly need it. I'd rather see it be taken advantage of by 100 shitty people than have it taken away from 1 person who really deserves it.
• Appeals are not bullshiit.  Appeals exist for a reason - to keep the government honest and to make this system as fair and honest as possible.  It's not perfect.  There are people who appeal their convictions but are factually guilty.  That still doesn't mean the appeal was bullshiit - we are a civilized nation and I'd like to keep it that way.
