WFL and money talk

Re: WFL and money talk

  • I try not to spend a fortune on bras, but I'm an unusual size.  I used to get them at filenes basment, but they're gone.  Target doesn't carry my size, otherwise I'd buy there.  I got lucky at Century 21 and Nordstrom's Rack and was so thrilled.  Pretty bras that aren't over $100 and aren't nude, black, or white.

I own a lot of shoes, but very rarely pay full price.  I love DSW.  The one thing I will pay full price for is a skirt.  I'm picky about what I wear to synagogue, so when I can find an over the knee skirt that isn't a sack and has style, I buy it.

  • I have trouble finding skirts. I'm short, so most skirts that fit in the waist end at weird spots on my leg so I look stunted or something. And it's hard to find ones that don't do weird stuff at the butt. Maybe my butt is disproportionate to the rest of my body.
  • I had a chicken sandwich and an apple.

Things we don't scrimp on are meats and produce at the grocery, vehicles, jewelry and I guess my skin care stuff although I don't think it's too expensive. I don't see any of those things ever changing. I like having nice cars, and Michael buys me  really nice jewelry, so I don't bother with the cheapy stuff anymore. Since I've met Michael, I've not bought one purse. His grandma has fantastic taste in purses and she buys me new ones all the time. In the last 3 1/2 years she's bought me 4 D&B's, 3 Coach, 1 Prada, and 1 LV.

I try to watch for sales on clothes, and buy things in off seasons. On most box stuff at the grocery, I'll usually buy the off brand. Lately our eating out bill has been cut drastically. We used to eat out 3-4 times a week but being KU and trying to eat better and save money, we've stopped eating out so much.

[QUOTE]Yeah, I like my broken-in jeans too, Sesh. And it takes so long to get them just right! <strong>I generally only buy new clothes when the old ones are falling apart or unwearable.

Arwo and Shan, I'm the same way.  I will occasionally buy a new dress or something for an event, but I am terrible at justifying buying new clothes when my old clothes are fine.  But I finally had to make a rule that if I see something has a stain or a hole in it, I get rid of it immediately.  It's pretty bad when you wear those things in public and someone points out that you have a hole in your shirt.

But I will splurge on vacations, food, dinners, alcohol....

Lunch was Olive Garden with work girlfriends.... yummmmyy

I have to agree about the WalMart- Target thing. I love Target, and I will buy my detergent etc at walmart and basic food items. Rice etc there, but nothing else. They're meat dept is SOOO over prices. I'd rather watch the ads and buy family packs at Albertson's when I can and freeze it. But i just love Target and Kirklands for home stuff.

i'd rather spend money on "expierences" too. Where my FI just wants to go and go and go all the time. I'd rather wait and go out once a week and do something we both enjoy and is special than just go to a random resteraunt or take out all the time.

[QUOTE]Suave Humectant is the best shampoo + conditioner out there. The only splurgey kind I'll do sometimes is Paul Mitchell.
