Confusions on food for buffet

Need some help and advice.

My fiance and I are working on the menu for our buffet and have hit a road block. We are doing three main entrees to choose from. Baked Herb Chicken, Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Sauce and Cod Fish.

If you were coming to this reception, what would be some of your opinions to these three choices?

Thanks for the help.

I think it's hard to say.  I don't like Salisbury steak, but I'm a picky eater and don't like a lot of things.

I'm a vegetarian, so I wouldn't be eating any of them myself but I voted that they all sound good.  They sound to me like pretty reasonable, safe choices.  One red meat/chicken/fish and nothing too "crazy" about each dish.  I like the chicken option especially.  Maybe switch the cod for a more well known fish like tilapia?

For some reason Salisbury Steak reminds me of a frozen dinner- it's not real steak and kind of gross.

You should go with a prime rib, ny strip, filet mignon, chateaubriand  orrr pretty much anything else would be better.

I've got to concur with BrambleBerry. Maybe it's because I've never had a "real" Salisbury steak, but it always reminds me of Lean Cuisines from like 10 years ago before they started getting creative with their frozen dinners.

Even meatloaf would probably be a better beef option. Or just hot, sliced roast beef.

I'm not having fish at my reception simply because of the smell.    And I don't like fish very much.

Salisbury Steak has a lot of negative connotations.  I love the one I make (grandmother's recipie) but have NEVER had another good one.  I don't call it Salisbury Steak...or my husband won't eat it.  I call it Spicy Braised Steak  Wink

The cod is fine, but I would but the fancy part of the name first:  New Brunswick Cod or Bella Vista Cod.  You'd be surprised the difference that makes!
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

Why not opt for a sirloin steak in place of salisbury?  I'm with everyone else.  When I think "salisbury steak," it's usually the frozen patties or lunchroom mystery meat with brown stuff on it.

Instead of the PP's expensive alternate cuts, a sirloin steak is one of the less expensive cuts of beef, or you can do a bistro filet (which is sort of like a beef tenderloin/filet but from a different part of the tenderloin.)
