Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

What's on your "do NOT play" list?

Well ladies I am seeking some help on songs you HATE! I am a general music enthusiast but I do have my songs I would like to avoid ( I think the chicken dance and the hokie pokie should be left to brownie camp and elementary school dances). I have not been to many weddings so I would like to know what annoying songs you have heard at weddings lately that you wish you had a mute button for!

We told our dj not to play anything that has a dance associated with it, no country (noone in either of our families would appreciate), and not more than one or two slow songs.  Other than that we had requests and other 'no' songs, but it's really up to you, your FI, and your families taste and what you think will get everyone boogying.

I too said no Chicken Dance/Hokie Pokie. I also said nothing with profanity and no Alan Jackson (can't stand him!) Other than that, I can't really think of anything too specific...

No "Celebration", no "We are Family" and no "The bride cuts the cake" song!!!!!
No Rap.  I'm okay with the chicken dance and hokie pokie, if someone requests them :)

I said no to the macarena and the electric slide.  Also, no ACDC music.  No chicken dance or hokie pokie too.  Personally, we chose no Michael Jackson music as well.

No group dances... no cupid shuffle or those other ones.

I did tell the dj that if no one is on the dance floor or the energy is low to play whatever gets people dancing.  I would rather have people dancing and partying than be so focused on not having The Electric Slide.

I honestly couldn't tell you if any organized dance songs were played though.  Don't waste to much energy thinking about it.

We are saying no to chicken dance, hokie pokie, or macarena . Other than that we just want to make sure everyone is having fun and dancing.

    We're saying no to:
    - ANY organized dances
    - Country
    - Disco
    - Rap (though we are having some old school hip hop for FI)
    - ABBA
    - Donna Summer (unless my MOH requests it because I love her and Donna Summer is her fave)
    - Livin' On A Prayer
    - That annoying "Shots" song
    - Calabria
    - Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night
    - The Bride Cuts The Cake
