Hang on, I'm singing the song in my head...

    Audrina(?)
    Adella
    Arista
    Alanna
    Ariel

I can't think of the other two.  Sadness.

  • Thank god it's Adella and not Ruebella.

While everyone is pondering Stina's stumper (and Aerin, I too am shocked)...

What Christmas symbol began showing up in English and American homes every year to this day after Queen Victoria's German husband Prince Albert set one up at their castle?

EDIT: Stina, it's your call as to when you want to reveal your answer.

<div>The little mermaid was given a knife by the sea witch to pierce the prince's heart. The blood that came out would hit her legs and she would turn back into a mermaid. But she couldn't do it....she was supposed to turn into seafoam, but she became the prince and his wife's guardian angel.</div>

  • It should be noted that the treatment that Walt oversaw kept the original ending.  (In fact, it was even bleaker than Andersen, as it left out the mention of her gaining a soul by her sacrifice.  She just dies, the end.)

[QUOTE]Stina, your question. :) Aerin - I didn't know that!  I kind of wish I could see that version.  When I was a kid, we had this video of TLM with a blonde mermaid named Marina that stuck to the original end.  I guess I was a morbid child because I've always loved that story more (even though it totally breaks my heart.)  The video's been lost though and I haven't been able to track it down. :(

  • Aerin, I really need to go about acquiring the dvd versions of all of these, haha

Jaime, no, it was an animated version.

It opened and closed with a narrator talking over shots of a real world statue that was kind of historical in nature and didn't directly relate to the story.  I don't know if that helps anyone at all.
