No, I'm not saying cigarettes are good for you.  Not really.  I am saying that when it comes to pharmacology, a drug with no side effects is a drug with no effects.  So while a substance can be extremely effective at treating one ailment, it could be found later to cause another.  This actually happened once in my own work about a decade ago - we found that celecoxib (Celebrex) was extremely effective at making early-stage oral cancer cells turn back into normal cells.  It really did work.  Unfortunately, celecoxib turned out to be hard on the cardiovascular system, so while it did exactly what we wanted it to do, in a whole system it caused an unrelated problem.  The same is true of nicotine - it is great for preventing Parkinson's, but pretty hard on the heart.

Scientists don't state popular opinion as fact.  I have no idea how you got that from what I said.  What we do is set up a series of rigorously controlled experiments that are designed to absolutely, beyond a doubt, disprove something we think might be true.  If we can't disprove it, then we give it to another "overrated genius" to try to disprove.  If no one else can disprove it, we release it to the public with the understanding that we will never, ever stop trying to disprove it.  If enough time and advances in technology and testing go by and STILL no one can disprove it, we call it a theory and let the public teach it as tentative fact, while we still continue to try to disprove it, just in case.

How is saying "your are a man if you have a penis" hateful? I have never once said anything against a person having a sex change, I have never once stated anything "against" homosexuality nor anything racist. So because I believe you actually have to get a sex change to change your sex, that makes me a bigot?

Bigotry covers intolerance. You're intolerant of people who are transgendered. Everything you've said here has been anti-transgender, basically saying that their feelings are worth nothing because you don't recognize the divide between sex and gender. You've pretty much said that unless someone has the financial means to undergo a very expensive set of procedures, you won't respect their gender choice. That is just disgusting.

My best friend tried to commit suicide multiple times leading up to his decision to begin transitioning. Gender dysphoria is an awful thing. He hates his breasts and looks forward to when he has the funds to have chest reconstructive surgery. He's identified as male by friends, family, coworkers and the state of Washington. Do you seriously think that now that my friend is happily living as a male, I should continue calling him 'her' because he has breasts (though he does bind) and a vagina? Really? How does that make any sense ever?

You are being disrespectful to both transpeople and people who are in a lower socioeconomical class and therefore cannot afford expensive surgeries, though they have been recommended by therapists and physicians.

I was in an abusive relationship and I felt that the only way to get out for good was to kill myself. I was 19. I didn't realize how many other outlets I had at my disposal. So I swallowed as many anti-depressants and sleeping pills as I had and then I cut my wrists (I was a self-harmer from the age of 13). My parents found me and I spent four days in the "behavioral ward" of the local hospital.

All jokes aside, I am glad that you survived, but you do have to understand that for every person that actually wants to end it all, there is a person that justs wants attention. I personally feel that there is never an excuse for suicide and that it is an easy way out.
