We are having a brunch reception, my question is what would you serve for not only the food but the drinks as well? also if you had a brunch reception was their much dancing or did people tend to sit down most of the time?
Are you having alcohol? If so, I would have beer, wine, and maybe a few sig breakfast cocktails, like mimosas and bloody marys. For non alcoholic drinks, tea, coffee, juices, soda (if your crowd is big into soda)--if you want something fancier, what about a smoothie bar?
We had an afternoon reception (wedding began at 1) with lots of dancing. What time are you planning on? Are you having a band or DJ (we had an awesome band, which was probably part of it)?
ETA: I didn't realize you were also asking about food (despite the title of your post). For brunch, I think you can have a few breakfast things, but then also include some more substantial things. Brunch seems to lend itself well to stations in my mind: omelette station, pancake station, carving station, pasta sautee station (for example).
I would serve drinks like mimosa, bloody marys and maybe a Mint Juelup- depending on when you wedding is. It seems like a brunch drink
Foods- On the west coast you have awesome seafoods and my favorite brunches are: breakfast foods- toast, waffles, omlettes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrown/home fries. Lunch foods- fruit, salmon, prime rib, clams/mussels, potato or pasta ,and salads.
If you have a good DJ and friends mixed with some alcohol I would think there would be dancing.
Depending on if your reception starts at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm then I would debate having beer/wine.
Good call sparent on the seafood! OP, if your wedding is in Alaska, definitely have seafood. We flew in halibut and salmon for our Maine wedding (DH is from Alaska).
