I'm a South Jersey girl born and raised, my fiance is a Georgia boy. After figuring out our guest list (we plan to have a small wedding) My fiance only had about 10 guests and I had about 30...all of which live in NJ. And both our families are very different. His family is very old school, where as mine is very...well, not haha My parents are also newly divorced and there's heavy tension between my mom and dad's family. Anywho, We have come up with the idea of having our small ceremony here in Georgia with his family, my best friend, my dad and a handful of other people on my dad's side willing to travel, take everyone out to a restaraunt afterwards and the next weekend have a backyard reception/bbq with friends and my mom's side of the family in NJ. My mom and I don't get along, she doesn't get along with her family either. But I still talk to family members on her side. A lot of them want to come but can't afford to travel. So, I was planning on taking videos and photos of our tiny ceremony. Has anyone ever done something like this or is planning to? Does it seem like a good idea?
