It as in SB.  There was a post about some admittedly ridiculous protest that some members of the NAACP were holding.  Blueeyes chimes in that, well, because we have an African-American president, their mission is accomplished and they should just shut up until some real racism happens.  And then she said that Jesse Jackson is the CEO of the NAACP.  Just ignorance from start to finish, really.

She later claimed that she didn't mean "at all" that the NAACP has fulfilled it's mission.  It was in that post that she said Jesse Jackson was the CEO.

I would like to point out that I'm not flaming her because she's conservative, those of you who who are reading this and think there's no political diversity on this board. Even though my views are 100% the opposite of her's. While I may be willing to give some of her lesser transgressions a pass if I was also a conservative, it's the totally made-up, uniformed BS she spouts off that really pisses me off. I do not have this problem with other libertarians or Republicans on this board.

Though I do have a problem with Horatio Alger syndrome in general. No, it's not necessarily someone's fault that they are poor. Thanks for trying.

I actually know (well, know <em>of </em>- he's a fellow WoW blogger) someone who holds the Somali pirates up as an example of why poor people have no one but themselves to blame for being poor.  His argument is that the Somali pirates were poor too until they started kidnapping people and holding them for ransom.  So, if you ever find yourself in truly dire straights?  Carjack your neighbor.  It's not a crime.  It's smart!

I consider myself Libertarian and even I was shaking my head at some of this stuff. Jesse Jackson as CEO of NAACP? Really? I don't read many of her posts anymore when it's political because it just drives me crazy that's she's so misinformed. And it gives those informed Libertarians/Republicans a bad name.

Eh, I think that happens a lot.  In some ways it's a double-standard, but in some ways it's not.  You "know" TJ and you know that she's not a rude guest-ignorer person overall, and you know she's going to be gracious generally to her guests, so she gets a bit of a pass. 

Someone who's new or who rubs you the wrong way doesn't necessarily get that pass because they haven't earned any general goodwill points to offset what you see as a faux pas.  Maybe?

In theory OWN, yes that's pretty much it.  I just feel bad because it creates a feeling like we give passes to the regs but the newer people get shot down.  I guess that's true no matter what though, it's bound to happen when people post and get to know each other that they'll give each other passes from time to time.

What if someone had a budget wedding, started at 2pm, had "cocktail hour" with hot fall drinks from 3-4, then had champange/wine and apps from 4-5? And that was the whole wedding? We'd probably tell them that was fine. I don't know - I wouldn't just be standing around those 2 hours waiting for the "real" party.

I thought it was ironic when Ten said that cocktail hour was her favorite part of weddings, but then basically said in the same breath that if it went a second over 60 minutes she'd be bored out of her skull.

I don't really see a problem with your choosing not to comment. Had you agreed with her, but told a newb the complete opposite in the next thread, I'd consider it a double standard. I do that a lot too (abstain from commenting on certain things), but as long as you sort of mentally give them a pass, but don't blatantly contradict yourself all the time, I don't see a problem. With regs, we have a slightly larger picture of the whole situation, so we're bound to consider things differently.

If someone comes here and posts once, doesn't give complete information, and immediately snaps back when people question or advise against whatever they are doing, I pretty much feel they deserve what they get.

The pet expo was amazing. I put a dollar in Mikey's vest. He is an absolutely sweetheart. The people at the Lab & Giant Breed rescue were kind of exactly how I thought they'd be. We gave the rest of our dollars to the Golden rescues and the rescue Sheldon came from.

We had a really good time, though. There was an agility course, which was awesome, and it was totally packed with all kinds of stuff I never imagined existed for pets. And there was a donkey.
