[QUOTE]Mari - we totally lucked out with our house though. The previous owner put a lot of work and effort into picking nice paint colors. We still have things that are outdated (tile in bathrooms, fixtures, etc.) but it's really amazing what you can do wtih a little bit of paint and the right accessories. <strong>And a MIL who likes to help get you those things.

Truefax.  I think our little garage studio apartment will be much nicer than we could afford on our own, because my mom will probably end up moving into it eventually and giving us the house.  I wanted a dutch door, H thought it was too expensive, and my mom was all, "oooh, a dutch door!" when I mentioned it.  Suck it, H.

  • oh actually, you can buy little acrylic runners that you can drape overtop of something like that and then you have a hard surface.  Those are pretty cool if you can find an off white one, or a tan.

  • H's house was a dump! It had never been updated or had any work done to it. I was H he was nuts to buy that house, but we weren't engaged at the time so not much I could do. What sold H was the huge garage in the back for him to work in. Also he thought he would get the first home buyers credit...yeah he was a month too late for that.

Haha my MIL is worse at decorating than I am!

Habs I will check into the trays and runners, that sounds like such a neat idea! I wish I could buy it right now but bills come first sadly.

[QUOTE]Yea - the difference between my Mom's "sense of style" and MIL's is completely night and day. The first time my Mom came over she said she was afraid to touch anything.  Which is silly because it's not over the moon fancy by any means. She is the best at finding me cool antique pieces though.

My mom has a great sense of style she just has no follow through. I'm like "You have great ideas why don't you spruce the place up" And she'll "I'll get around to it.

    We should!

I have two houses (that makes me sound so high class LOL). The rental I live in near work and the renovation an hour and a half away. I love the master bedroom in the rental and I love the dining room to be in the reno.

But, I need photos of both.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Good morning! : Hey, it's a pavement colored SUV! I had one and so many people pulled out in front of me it was terrible.

lol, I never even thought of that. I just think that particular shade of grey on that car is hideous. And to make it even worse, the interior is beige. Barf. I'm so glad that thing isn't gonna be sitting in my driveway.

I'll be so happy to see 4:30 come today so I can escape the madness and go home to John.
