  • Y'all get Friday off? Not fair.

We do get Monday off, so there's that. The only reason we get it off though is because Christmas is on a Sunday (if the holiday falls on the weekend, we get the day before or after off depending on which weekend day).
  • Well that's good, A!  I'm glad you get something off.

  • Adamar that sucks :/ I'm mad that I have a final exam tomorrow.  But I could have one Friday, so I can't really complain.
  • I'd say I'm glad I'm not alone on the missing H for Christmas thing, but it just makes me sad that there are more people in the same boat.  I hope you all get to spend some quality time with your Hs after the holidays.  It looks right now (though it might change) like H is going to have all day Monday off, so I'm excited for that.

Stacks, you are fabulous.  I'm reading the DJ thread now.  It's BS that these girls are giving her such a hard time.

  • I am working Friday, and then only working Tuesday next week.  I am so holding onto that thought.....
  • So T just got the most amazing email from the Vice President of the company.  He took the time to send T's managers an email telling them they think they did a great job hiring him and he seems like the complete package.  The managers agreed with the VP and then the VP sent the actual email to T so he could see it.  It was very thoughtful.  I'm so glad he's out of that crapshoot area he left.  This was certainly a lateral move within a company worth taking.

That's because those days become the national holiday. Everyone shoud have them off. I just haven't heard from my boss whether I do or not. He's been out sick the last two days and I'm off today. My coworker seems to think that someone needs to be in the office. Why someone needs to be in the office when everyone else in will be off for the holiday makes no sense to me, but she tends to make little sense to me anyway.

  • Meg, I'll probably stroll along reading the DJ thread and completely forget about the disclaimer until I hit the reason for it.
  • I'm glad the move has worked out well for him, Stacks.

  • Yay, Stacks!  That's great.  I'm happy for you guys.

I don't get Friday off, but that's okay because I usually work Christmas Eve anyway (I get it off this year because I don't work on weekends).  I have Monday off though.

Jess, PLEASE don't read it.  Trust me on that. I'm going to go look and tell you EXACTLY when to stop.

ETA: Stop when Mari's FI tells her what "just the tip" means.
  • That's awesome, Stacks!

  • Stacks Lucas did not want to go to his company holiday party (he hates things like that) but I think he's glad he did because we were chatting with his boss and the guy had nothing but great things to say about him.

  • Admar, how close are we to your birthday?  Is it Friday?

Midge, so cool on your FI's award.  What does he do for a living?
  • Yay for Mr. Stacks. Question: Are you supposed to feed the cold or starve the cold? I can never remember how the saying goes.

I'm really sorry I read past page 10.  I could have lived without ever reading that.

What, my constant reminders haven't permanently etched the date into everyone's brain?  Heh, no it's on Saturday.

Must be pretty bad...let me know. :) Remind me, I'm forgetful with stuff like that.

    YAY STACKS H! That's awesome!
  • If anything I'm going to see if I can at least just work from home. Driving all the way to VA Beach to stare at a computer and not ringing phone for 8 hours is not the way I want to spend the holiday. Not to mention Lucas is actually off so it would be nice to spend the day with him before he goes back to MD.

  • Stacks and MK it's great hearing good things about yourself in regards to your company.  FI is the youngest at his company (most people have their PhD and FI "only" has his MS) and his boss kept saying how pleased they were with the qaulity of his work and the speed in which he does it.

It definitely made him feel good because every time he finishes something they need him to do 3 more things and he sometimes feels overwhelmed so it was nice for him to hear they thought he was pretty quick.
  • You feed a cold.  Lots of juice, water and soup.  You starve the flu.
  • See, I'm going to tell everyone to read past page 10. Because I'm one of those "Ew, this smells so nasty...here, you smell it!" kind of people. If I have to see it, then so do you.

My tip would be, don't visualize it. Because if you have an overly active and vivid mind/imagination like me, well that just makes it worse.
  • Yeah that's the problem, Sesh -- I have a way overactive imagination, and that's something you just can't unsee.  Gah!

  • Thanks Stacks. Well then I'm going to assume it's a cold. Have to load up on my free hotel breakfast.

  • TBH I didn't even read the whole definition, but certain words jumped out and me. That was enough to know it wasn't going to be anything good.

<div>I "saw" it and didn't even get it. Ahh guys I'm sorry.  Bay sorry about your H. And that you have to work Friday.  How is the knitting going?  FI mentioned today that he wants a nice hat.  He had a black hat he loved before we met and it was lost.  I made him one and he lost that too.  Ugh.</div>
  • Megbo -- I have ONE knitted item left to finish, and that's a scarf for my H.  I made him one out of crap acrylic yarn about three years ago, and he wore it to pieces.  I made him a new one out of good, soft merino yarn, and what does he do?  Throws it in the dryer!  When I saw how upset he was, I promised him a third scarf, but it's been languishing for some time (I hate knitting scarves now, I'm so bored with them) and I have been trying to complete it on the sly.  He probably thinks he's never getting it.
