My front yard is a hot mess. I'm transitioning the mulch that I use to something more environmentally friendly, and I had planned on mixing them all up so the color difference isn't so noticeable, but 1/3 of the way through, I disrupted a snake from its nap. After that, every leaf and twig looked like a snake to me, so the rest of the mulch is in pathetic reddish piles in a sea of blonde mulch.
Gah, I'm a wimp. The snake is a foot long garter. It wouldn't have done anything to me.
Morning! I ended up sleeping in the man cave with the kitties after falling asleep watching gymnastics.
Mica, snakes freak me out. So do spiders and bees. Ick.
I really don't want to go to work today. I'd rather just lay in bed with the cats all day. Not looking forward to dealing with jerks today.
Morning. I knew I would pay dearly for staying up to watch the gymnastics, and I was right. Last week of my summer class! Four more days! I can do this.
Howdy! I just came back from lunch. It was pouring this morning but has thankfully cleared up now. Hopefully it stays like this for the rest of the day.
I'm going to miss the men's gymnastics final I have a haircut tonight at the exact time. Bumma.
We haven't watched much of the Olympics but we did watch some of the women's gymnastics last night. The competition seems like a total 360 from what I remember seeing in Beijing. A lot of the teams looked to be less prepared than they were in Beijing... not sure why. Maybe I'm just making it up in my head. After all, it has been four years, so there's that.
Today promises to be another scorching day outside. C'mon, October weather...
I'm kinda pissy after my morning walk with Sasha. This lady was walking her tiny Yorkies and let Sasha introduce herself by bending down and sniffing them. Nothing else, just sniffed the nose of one of the little dogs and that sucker bit Sasha in the face! And the owner did nothing, not even a 'Oh, sorry my dog is a b*tch'. Thank God Sasha is so laid back and just kept going about her business.
Anyway, I'm jealous of all of yalls travels these upcoming weeks!
Lot's of good vacation anticipation going on in this thread! It is so hard to wait. Excited for all of the trips coming up.
Morning all, I miss the water, and the boat, and my dog, and the sunshine, and the cocktails, and the snacks. I love summer, if only I didn't have to work 5 days a week.
Morning. I'm so exhausted... not used to working. I'm pretty sure I'm here til 8 tonight. This will be a loooong day.
I don't use iCloud... I tried and a bunch of things got deleted from my iPhone, so now I'm afraid of it and don't want to try. I don't even know how to use it on my computer.
I think I have a vacation coming up, if I don't work the week of the 13th. It's only a week at the shore, but it's something.
Morning, all. Mica, I feel your pain. I found a copperhead in my laundry room Saturday morning. I may or may not have screamed like a little girl. Hero-man husband took care of it for us, with the help of the cat (who initially found it). He really doesn't like the cat much, but he kept praising her and saying that we don't need to go cat-free ever.

I would die. My worst fear is finding a snake in the house. I refuse to move anywhere where snakes are common enough to get in the house.
I'm just counting down the days until end of summer semester...then it's beach house time. It's just for 3 days, but I don't care. we're hosting another couple with their daughter and they're a blast. I foresee myself doing nothing but reading and drinking margaretas on the deck, in a lounge chair. The guys are doing all of the cooking.
I feel your pain, eags. I woke up, got ready, and then was hit with a wave of yuck feelings as I was almost out the door. So I'm back in bed with a puppy or two snuggled into my sides.
Ugh. I'm so frustrated with my online course. The site isn't loading videos AGAIN. We ahve to watch them and read the articles in order to do the discussion requirements. I have certain patches of time set aside to do this since I have a busy toddler to keep up with and I'm pissed that I can't do my assignment because the freaking site isn't cooperating. Her breakfast time is a 20 minute block I use to work on it.

<div> </div><div>I'm glad no one got bit. Copperhead bites suck. They're pretty common in the Houston area, too. Not so much in the city or suburban areas, but out by my parents, all the time. Common enough for the local hospital to keep a good supply of antivenin on hand.</div>
I have no idea what I would do with a snake in the house. Probably barricade myself in a room until J took care of it. Unless I knew it wasn't poisonous in which case I would let the pups after it.
