I want to know

Re: I want to know

  • Ann Coulter! (sp)

  • I disagree with that. There are plenty of ways to have conservative values and not be a douchebag about it. It seems like Fox News hasn't really found a way to do that lately. There are moderates and democrats on Fox, so it is not all of Fox news.

  • The BBC is very liberal. I have seen many liberals get violent over their causes too. Of course the news doesn't cover this as much as say covering conservatives getting violent. It It is stupid for either party to promote violence to get anything done. Didn't you say in another thread you were a moderate before this election or up until recently?  Did you always vote along conservative lines, or mix it up or what?

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • IMO both ultra liberals and ultra conservatives are all wrong.  Why does everything need to be so blown out of proportion and viewed only as an extreme.  I have been reading new statutes for investment adviser the last week and I'm telling you the reality of the proposals is not what some of the commentary has laid out in the trade magazines.  I'm sure that the health care bill is the same way.
  • I didn't intend to get into a debate about the general bill or foxnews. I guess I had wishful thinking and really hoped there was some reasonable explanation for people believing the death panel accusations. I'm still really interested in the perspective of someone who believes it, but I don't think anyone here does, or they just don't want to admit it.I think only extreme right wingers believe this. If you want that view watch Hannity or Glen  today lol!

  • I think that's a matter of perspective Ang.  I've never watched the BBC and thought, "Gee, that's super liberal!" What I have thought instead is that they present both sides equally, and if they do lend an opinion, it's "British" opinion.  Which you have to understand is slightly more liberal than the standard American.  But, I've never, ever seen it as "skewed" (hehe... had to throw that in)
  • Wait. What? Did you just accuse the most reputable news source in the world of spinning a story? Really? In denial much? You are obviously in denial if you think that because a station is "the most reputable news source" it can't spin a story. It is a fact that the vast majority of the American citizens going to the town hall meetings are not screaming loonies. You can believe what you want to believe.
  • There are moderates and democrats on Fox, so it is not all of Fox news.Yes, and I've seen them get shouted over and talked down to by the hosts.  The only show I thought actually gave a fair shot to democrats on that channel was Hannity and Combes, and now that's just become Hannity screaming his fool head off about crap.

Oh, so only BBC spins a story?  But Fox News is telling it like it is all the time?

  • Oh skew it Amoro, we will have to agree to disagree. ;P
    image
  • MSNBC also has a history of candy coating Obama and his Adninstration. CNN also skews the truth. Every news station skews the truth sometimes. It's the news. What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days. This. And it's the rag mags saying that Obama's birth certificate isn't real.  I'm pretty sure Fox dropped that story a while ago.
  • Oh GOD ANN COULTER. She is the anti-Christ.
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • Ang - I can't stand Coulter. She just comes across as BSC most of the time.

  • Sarah, what purpose would there be to spinning a story on American politics?  If you can answer me that, then I'll agree with you.  But, considering that they're obviously playing to the British (and somewhat) the European market, why would they purposely try to make us look like screaming loonies?
  • It is a fact that the vast majority of the American citizens going to the town hall meetings are not screaming loonies. Of course, but that doesn't change the fact that there were several screaming loonies.  I was embarrassed too.  I can't imagine what people in other countries think about Americans (mostly thanks to the media of course). One rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel (and get other apples to believe crazy things).

  • Oh, so only BBC spins a story? But Fox News is telling it like it is all the time? Please see my previous post where I stated that all of the new stations skew and sensationalize news stories. I'm not even ultra-conservative, I just think it's ignorant for people to say that only one side or the other skews stories.
  • And to be completely clear, I don't have a whole lot of faith in even the most reputable news networks.  They are there to make money, just like everyone else.  Controversy sells.  Is anyone going to watch the news if it's just Veronica Corningstone covering a fashion show for cats?  I think not.
  • Technically, don't we already have "death panels," groups of people who decide who will live and die based on who should get a kidney or a heart? Panels regarding organ donation make such decisions daily base don a person's age, health, and habits (like alcoholism).
  • And it's the rag mags saying that Obama's birth certificate isn't real. I'm pretty sure Fox dropped that story a while ago. An opinion piece on FoxNews.com was written about it on July 29th.  So no, they haven't quite dropped it yet.

The only show I thought actually gave a fair shot to democrats on that channel was Hannity and Combes, and now that's just become Hannity screaming his fool head off about crap. There are moderate and Democrat news casters, not just guests and they don't only go on the Hannity show. Alan combs had his own radio show on Fox.

  •  Bill has slammed Dobbs  for spreading this rumor about Obama.

  • why all the personal insults against people you disagree with? i can't stand listening to olbermann, but i don't want to hit him with a shoe or call him the antichrist. i just disagree with most things he says.
  • Sarah, what purpose would there be to spinning a story on American politics? If you can answer me that, then I'll agree with you. But, considering that they're obviously playing to the British (and somewhat) the European market, why would they purposely try to make us look like screaming loonies?I've got to disagree with you, Amoro.  Europeans love believing that Americans are bunch of screaming loons.  :)  It makes them feel better about France.  (joke)
  • SarahSmile- Sorry if you already answered this, but what is your opinion on the death panel issue?Ricks, I think I'd shoot myself in the head before I watched more than an hour of any major news network... except for CSPAN. I mostly read news online from various sources. I think the televised news media concentrates too much on entertainment as opposed to information. I do have a secret dirty love for Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert though.

  • Why don't we just all agree that Jon Stewart is the best source of all news information and we can just all it a day?
  • An opinion piece on FoxNews.com was written about it on July 29th. So no, they haven't quite dropped it yet. Yeah, an opinion piece.  Not hard news.
  • Please tell me that eastunder1 was joking when she said that Obama wasn't born in the States because he was born in Hawaii.  I've heard of people from the States thinking pieces of Canada are part of the States but seriously?  Since when do they ever think that something isn't part of the States that is.  I'm taking it as a joke because that has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
  • Dude, East was joking.
    image
  • Yes, Melinda, it is a joke.  Chill.
  • East was joking. You're welcome.
