Opinion on Centerpiece please!

Trying this...hope it works! What do you think?  It's a tall black vase with three red roses.  Too tall?  Too few flowers?  I can't decide if it looks right.  With 6 though, it looked like it was going to fall over lol. http://s981.photobucket.com/albums/ae299/photo1114_2009/Thanks ladies!

Try a different vase, maybe get rid of the greens.

I agree about it being too valentinesy. Taking out the babies breath may help.

Are you going with those silk flowers?  I think it looks really fakey looking.  I think if you had nicer looking flowers, it might work.

Fake flowers...we are all carrying real, but for the reception I'm using fake.

I want to DYI - I have a flower person doing everything else but I wanted to do half the tables using a tall vase...and then the other half using shorter vase to give it a more variety.  I already have a good idea of what the shorter ones will look like.  Just no clue on the tall ones.

Try a shorter vase, something square or cylinder(ish), add some other flowers.  I don't think you need the baby breath at all.

Change the vase...it does kind of look like gothic V-day. Is there any way you can purchase nicer silk flowers? If you can tell they are fake from a small picture, they are not good fakes.

I think roses are the wrong flower for that type of vase. You need something that hangs down more. I like the other suggestion, sorry I forget who posted.

The length of the vase makes the flowers look less full and overpowers them. I would either stick with the vase and do a different arrangement or go with the roses in a different vase. The two don't really go together imo.

mwhitson - are you using real though? I wanted to incorporate some black though - it's an accent color I'm using.  The small vases will be clear, so not every table will have black vases.

I agree.  Anyone have a suggestion on a black vase that would work?  What shape is best? I got these flowers from Hobby Lobby.  Where can I find better looking silk flowers?  Besides a flower shop - too expensive and I've already got one doing real flowers for the wedding.

What about non-floral for the tall vases?  Curly branches, feathers, crystals, something like that?  Or are you dead-set on the roses?Silk flowers are tricky, the cheap ones look cheap, and the nice ones are expensive.  I like other ways of doing fake flowers (paper, wood, fabric, etc.) that are stylized rather than trying to look real.  That might just be my style, though.

What if you incorporate the black in a different way, like adding some black feathers to the arrangements? I agree that roses are all wrong for this style of vase, they look totally overpowered.

I want to stick with roses...they are kind of the theme, even thought I didn't really mean for that to happen.  The linens are white, and then we are having red napkins and a red napkin in the center of the table with a mirror on top, and then the vase of flowers and a couple candles around it.  Everyone is already set on that stuff.I just thought a pop of black (just the vase) would add to the table.  Everyone keeps telling me you need at least two sizes of arrangements to make it visually appealing.
