• This is what the other centerpieces will look like.    Are they any good?  I suck at this game lol.
• Those are pretty B2B.
• Honey, I'm sorry, but if the roses are your theme, then you need to find a better way to showcase them. That means using either real ones or the best artificial you can find (which cost about the same as real). I really love the look of a broader square or round vase with black ribbon wrapped around. Check out projectwedding.com for a lot of examples.
• I like the inspiration picture for you low centerpieces. However I wonder what it will look like with fake flowers. HAve you looked into the wholesale flower sites?
• I think those CPs are better than the one you posted originally. Why not do all CPs like that?

• Those are real though.  Wonder what they'd look like with fake ones. Anyone use fake and get away with it?
• I think it's going to depend on what you mean by get away with it.
• I appreciate you all helping me! Opalsky (sorry if misspelled) - what color vase with black around them?
• Get away with it - look decent.  I don't care if people know they are fake - I mean they'll be close enough to tell!  But I don't want people to say what you guys have been saying - which I appreciate you telling me.  I wasn't in love with them, it just didn't look right so I wanted to ask what you guys thought.  I am not good at this! Do you think all short vases would be okay?  I just thought it was good to have a contrast throughout the room.
• I prefer clear vases--they're easy to find and fairly inexpensive. For reference, I checked out afloral.com, which sells real-touch roses for $1 a stem. I also checked out theflowerexchange.com which will deliver you real roses for $1 a stem. You can do real ones for the same price as good fakes!
• I had originally planned on using silk. I bought tons of them from Hobby Lobby, and I do like how they look. But now that we're pushing the wedding back I can afford to splurge a little, and it will be on real flowers.

• I think doing all short vases would be fine. I didn't know that you needed to have different heights for CPs and probably wouldn't go that way if I had the choice.
• I think I'll make one up using the fakes I have, and then show you guys (if you are willing to take a look again).  I really appreciate your help!  You guys are sweet.
• Mwhitson- if I use silk, what should I put in the bottom of the vase?
• I was in a wedding in May and she used red roses. The day before the wedding, her and he daughter went to EVERY grocery store in town and bought all the red roses. She did all her center pieces for $150. Risky, I know, but most stores carry them. Or try preordering from a Price Chopper or a store like that, they are usually much cheaper.
• Well, as they say, variety is the spice of life...but you don't necessarily need it. My centerpieces will all look alike! If you did want to go for variations on a theme, you could buy different sizes or shapes (round, square, rectangular) without using tower vases.
• sorry, i feel really really mean saying this...but that looks really cheap and really outdated. I hate the greenery on the roses, and i HATE baby's breath. To me, baby's breath=bad prom corsage.I think this arrangement just isn't elegant and won't photograph well. very sorry but wanted to be honest.

• Don't be sorry!  Honesty is best.
• We were going to do silks, but I decided to make paper roses instead.  I found the tutorial here: http://meholder.blogspot.com/2009/03/paper-flower-tutorial.html. I've seen beautiful roses made out of ribbon, fabric, leather, and wood as well.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
• I used clear stones, but you could use black to add some of the black you're going for. They don't really need anything in the bottom though.

• Mwhitson - is that a picture of one you did?
• Ooo, just had a thought.  Clear vase, filled with water, black stones in the bottom, float a rose-shaped candle on top.  Or just a plain round candle, and scatter some rose petals around it.You could also do tall vases with submerged flowers.  I think fake flowers work better submerged anyway.

• I love the second photo I posted - but thought my monogram being everywhere might be a bit much.Do you think making the label for those vases would be easy?  Ugh - what have I gotten myself into?  Maybe I should just hire it all done!
• aerin- good ideas.  What kind of tall vase would work though?
• I've only ever seen submerged flowers with clear cylinder vases.  I think anything else causes weird refraction issues and makes them hard to photograph.

• Hobby Lobby, sells really good artificial flowers too, but they run about $1.99 a stem.  The ones that are $1.99 for a bunch wired together, ALWAYS look fake!  You can order stems of real roses for way less than that.  I think you should try a short black vase with real stems.  Try checking out http://www.flowerwholesale.com/They have free overnight Fed Ex shipping to anywhere in the country and Canada.  And you don't have to order large quantities. 25 stem min on most roses for about $20 or less for market.  Something to consider.
• I'm honestly not a huge fan of tall centerpieces.  They get in the way of talking to people on the other side of the table.  The roses look disproportionate to the vase, I agree the flowers on top need to be much fuller and dramatic if you're going to go with a tall vase.  Try jamaligarden.com or save-on-crafts.com for shorter black vases, they should have some. Also, and this is my opinion, the fake flowers look really fake.  And I know you aren't real concerned about the fact that they look fake, but it would kinda bug me.  Fake flowers are a pet peeve of mine.  Fiftyflowers.com has red roses for $75-$200; if you only are going to do small arrangements you won't need many flowers at all.  Otherwise, will a farmer's market be open on the wedding day?  I got a whole bunch of flowers a few times for less than $50.
• Nope, that's the picture off www.dollartree.com with the vases that I bought from there. The vases in the picture were $1! And costco sells the roses I want to use for pretty darn cheap, $1 a stem.
