I also have the mindset that men who don't want you to work is because they like to keep you more dependent and needy on them so they can control you. There are few people more depressed than those who sit home all day and have nothing to do, and no happy relationship to keep them fulfilled. This does not apply if you are a SAHM or a student or just doing it for a short time period. But working is essential to your self worth in many ways.

Ok, so I am a lurker and I rarely post on the P&E board but I think you should listen to these girls on this one. They usually know what they are talking about. They might be snarky but they are honest. Coming from a fellow 20 year old, I think you should not put yourself through this. I am not saying that I am more mature or that I am more ready but FI is also not a total jerk. We have our issues but we sit down and discuss them and work them out. FI would never leave me and would not talk to me for weeks at a time. Also, I know plenty of people who are married and have husbands in the military and most of the women have jobs because they are having a hard time making ends meet. I know me personally just because I am getting married and FI will be making good money once he finishes his degree, I am not going to drop everything I want to do and depend on him. I want to make sure I can make it on my own in case, lord forbid, something happens. I have my own full time job and I go to school part time and I am hoping to eventually get a degree and make a name for myself so that I can be self dependent. If I were you I would sit back and do some self assessing before thinking about marriage.

Wow, I really truly think you are TK's biggest a$$hole. Really.  You have come on here posting all this stuff several times and we have all given you very good and valid advice because we have all been through it and we KNOW.  If you want to continue to destroy yourself with this wretched relationship, go right ahead. But don't come on here posting about it and expect sympathy.  YOU need to take control of your life.  A friend once told me "Don't rely on somebody else for your happiness, they will always let you down." When you understand what that means, and are at that point, THEN you will be ready for a real relationship.
