  • Good luck today, Musu!

I slept like a rock.  Blargh, I hate Mondays.  I can't believe I have school again in less than a month.  I'd better get on living life to the fullest in June, because come July I am going to have zero free time again.  It's weird to think about, I've never taken a summer course before.

  • Happy first day of your job, MS!

I only slept for 5 hours last night, and I still have no voice.  I'm starting to whisper as default.  I have to remind myself how to speak normally (not that any normal sound comes out when I try).  Sigh.  This is no longer novel.
  • Morning! Fi & I played video games most of the day yesterday, we are on a new budget so we dont have much to spend - video games & free (if you have already purchased them haha). Halo & Call of Duty yay! I had a good sleep but I woke up so tired, so maybe it wasnt that good.

The police made a statement this morning that the Toronto Eaton Centre shooter from this Saturday had been arrested without any incident.

  • Morning all, happy first day of summer job Musu.

    Is it Friday yet?

  • I have a question for those of you who did (are doing?) C25K.  With three workouts a week, how did you space them?  Day on, day off, day on, day off...or something else?  I have a long history of going to the gym like a rabid animal for a few days, then burning myself out and not going back for awhile, so I want to do this right.

  • Glad to hear he was arrested, Dilen. Poor Mica, I hope you get better ASAP! I am fairly sure there will be little knotting at my new job which makes me sad... I haven't been up this early in forever. I forgot what 6am felt like that's for sure.

  • Morning! I'm going to have a husband by the end of the week! :D

Good luck with your first day Musu!

I only took one summer class Bay but it didn't take up as much as my time as I thought it would. I'm willing to bet that the class you're taking is of a higher academic level than the one I took though. Art for Elementary Education - it was more fun than challenging.

  • Midge -- mine is a 500-level course on the American Revolution (she hasn't told us how narrow the focus is going to be).  It's going to be four days a week, 6 PM - 8 PM.  I can't remember the last time I was in school four days out of the week.  I'm pretty sure it was undergrad and I was 21.

  • Bright side - At least you'll have your days free from being in a classroom and can study outside if you wish? That sounds tough but I'm sure you'll handle it well!

  • Bay, I hope you don't have the same type of prof for American Revolution as I did. Jeesus. She was insane. Class was 2 hours, every morning, from 8-10. And she was an AWFUL speaker. AWFUL. I never made it to that class. Blech.

However, I took a 400 level, tier II writing class in the summer (we didn't have 500's for undergrad) and the tier II was the toughest writing requirement we had, and it was a piece of cake.

I have a wicked headache today, but I just can't stomach taking anymore ibuprofen or aspirin. I am feeling so sick from all the crap I've taken. Thank GOD this is a short week! Half day tomorrow, full day on Wednesday.

Bay, if I may ask... what happened last night?

    Nope, not yet. :)
  • Morning!

Other than a quick Sunday recap last night, I haven't been on since our crazy long thread Saturday night. I ended up sleeping 11 hours last night. I wasn't feeling well at all. I thought I was having some sort of reaction to bug repellent, but I think I was just exhausted from the last week or so.

Anyhow, it seems I've missed some things.

How is everyone's Monday? It's rainy and gray here, which makes it blah. Of course I only have 1 more Monday before we go on summer break, and next Monday there will be no students here. So I really can't complain.
  • Good Morning!

It was a weekend of good and bad.

Good - I went to a BBQ for a friend's bday and had some great food.

Bad - I found out that this family friend I have known forever passed away this weekend.  He was in his early 20s and was out celebrating his birthday Friday night and then never woke up on Saturday morning.  I feel just terrible for his family.  Plus, and I'm not sure if this is normal, but his friends keep finding old pictures of him and then tagging him on FB, so the newsfeed is blowing up with pictures of him.  I hope his sisters and close family stays away from FB for awhile, because I just imagine that would be rough to see over and over again.

  • Snippy, YGPM.

Yay!  Midge's wedding is almost here!

LTB, that sounds like a fun shopping trip.  I'm impressed that you only spent $100.

  • Oh, I'm also trying to convince my friend to come up and visit us for a couple of weeks with her baby and husband. They live in Modena and between 8 last night and 9 this morning, they had NINE EARTHQUAKES. One of which reached up to a 5.1.  It's ridiculous and I'm scared for her.  But, she's pregnant and has an appointment with the doctors for a scan on the 13th, so she's not sure she can leave for a bit. They won't reschedule her appointment, the jerks.
  • Oh Froggie, that is awful *HUGS*

I hate how people behave re: FB when someone dies.  It really bugs me that that's the first place they go to, and they blow up the newsfeed with no regard to other peoples' feelings.  I don't know.  It bothered me last week when my grandpa died, and it bothers me every time it happens.

  • Froggie, I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Edie, that picture is adorable. Is that you and a sibling?
  • Morning!

It's my first day of summer vacation.  I just finished up my 5 am bootcamp and now I'm just drinking my protein shake and hanging out until my hair appt at 9:30.  It's nice to not have to work.
  • Froggie that stinks, no respect at all for the family, so sorry.
  • Froggie, Sorry for your loss, and I agree. I think it's okay to go on the person's fb and say your condolences, and I usually put something on my own, but posting picture after picture, especially ones of the deceased doing inappropriate things, is just wrong.
A guy I knew by association was killed in a car accident on Friday night. There are a ton of pictures on his facebook that friends have posted of him. Most of them are from parties. While the investigation is ongoing, rumor has it alcohol was related. It's immature and insensitive. Ditto on dude, I'll always remember our crazy drunk nights..."

Bay, sorry about your grandfather, that's awful. I hate when we have to lose people we love.

Midge, 5 days and you aren't freaking out? I will probably be walking around my house in circles adding to my to-do list.

I can't see who the poster was that said about doing bootcamp at 5:30 this morning, but for someone who is off of work for the summer, that's impressive. The first day I don't have to go to work, next Thursday, I'm not getting out of bed until the dog's vet appointment, which I scheduled for afternoon.
  • Oh sheeet. I just realized that I have to put together a powerpoint for a conference I'm speaking at next week. GAAAAAAAAAAH. It's the first time I've ever done something like this. WHY DID I PUT IT OFF SO LONG?!?!

    YGPMB bay.
  • Thanks Edie!

Bruno, it's just not really in my system to freak out over happy things. We've been engaged for a long long time now and just about everything is finished. My mom and FI both have the entire week off to take care of things and I'm taking Thursday and Friday off.

Most of what needs to get done is moving the rest of my stuff to FI's apartment and answering endless silly questions from my WP.

The only thing I'm somewhat worried about is one of my BMs showing up on time to the rehearsal and the wedding. She forgot about both showers and the bachelorette party she was invited to but she's always been like this and my MsOH were more upset about it than I was. She showed up late to the one shower with her gift wrapped in Christmas paper (hilarious) and never showed at the bachelorette party because she was feeling socially anxious. Thankfully, one of the ushers is reliable and she's his ride so I'm hoping because of that fact, it will all be okay. I'm still calling them both on Thursday to remind them of when they need to be where for both days.

    Holy crap...that was long. :)

  • Midge, I can't believe you're not freaking out.  I'm sure your BM will get herself to the right place, especially if shes got someone reliable with her.

FI and I were able to get our little patio installed during breaks in the rain this weekend.  Its still pouring here.

I've got little to nothing to do at work today...so I'll be starting to make more firm plans for our rehearsal dinner...challenge plan a BBQ rehearsal dinner for 50-60 people with $500.

  • Yay Midge! :D

I'm sorry Froggie :( In general people on FB irritate me, but when it comes to loss they are incredibly insensitive.

FMIL had a snit about being referred to as Mrs. FFIL's name, and told me it was unacceptable. Both of their names do not fit on the invitation. However, I don't think she understands that. This is one battle I am leaving up to FI.

On the plus side we went pottery painting this weekend, and made a lot of good food [ fried chicken, calamari, seared scallops, spicy tuna rolls, seared ahi, and bulgogi rolls. I think I am still full]

  • Midge, you are going to have to bottle up that calmness and send me some. I'm hoping that once everything is done, I will be as calm as you are, but right now I think I'm still too far out to see it happening.

As for your BM, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Most of my BM's are notoriously late, including my MOH. I love them dearly, but being punctual is not their strong suit. Thankfully, the ones that are always late have taken off of work the day of the rehearsal to help me with whatever I need. In doing this, I will also be able to keep them on time!

I have also noticed that when it came to functions handled by the wedding party, they were far more annoyed by those kinds of things with each other than I was. Maybe because I didn't have to actually deal with it. LOL
  • I'm so glad I never have to worry about wedding stuff again! Except for TY cards, of course. Ugh.
  • YAAAAAAAAAAAY MIDGE!!!
  • Cfas, that's what happened to me, too.  I was fine until about 36 hours before the wedding, and THEN I freaked out.  I was fine the day of, though.
