Re: Monday!

  • Does anyone have a good banana bread recipe?  H made some last night, but it's not the greatest.

I've never heard that before.  Why is that?

  • Do you have pictures of your trip to Europe MP? I want to go back so badly! What was your favorite landmark?
  • edited June 2012
Adamar - this is the one I always use, it's pretty awesome.

3-4 VERY ripe bananas smooshed up (1.5 C appx)
    3/4 C butter softnened
8 oz cream cheese softened (I like to use the honey nut kind)
    2 C sugar
    2 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts (I usually use pecans)
    1/2 tsp vanilla

Beat butter and cream cheese until creamy, then slowly add sugar until fluffy.  Add eggs until just blended.  Add dry ingredients slowly making sure everything is blended, stir in bananas, nuts and vanilla.  Makes 2 loaf pans.  Cook about 1hr on 350 degrees.

ETA:  it's not the healthiest version, but it's my favorite in terms of taste.

I should post them to FB tonight.  I guess I could have done it last night, but I was so tired.  Didn't stop me from staying up until 11pm to watch the RHONJ, though!

Since Matt and I are structural dorks, we liked the Tower Bridge in London and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  We read all about how they were built and worked and stuff.  Very neat stuff.

Where have you been in Europe, Midge?

  • Cfas, I never knew that!  So sad.  I'm used to seeing signs on bridges about seeking help, but I didn't know that there was a forest in Japan.
  • *HUGS* Rach :(

MP, not yet.  Things are still very up in the air.

Cfas, I never heard that either.  I know she said that she wanted to go there to see the cherry blossoms before she died.  She left a suicide note on her laptop.  I have a hard time believing that she's actually dead, but the last place she was seen was in Hokkaido.  I feel like someone would have noticed her if she was still alive.  But who knows?

  • Beanie, your work let you lay down for a whole hour? Lucky.
  • MP - Eiffel Tower is one of my favorites as well but that's because I'm in love with anything French. The Sacre Coeur is probably my favorite church ever. Gorgeous.

I've been to France, Spain and Germany. Funny thing is that I've lived within 20 minutes of a Hofbrahaus for as long as it's been in Newport but I made it to the one in Germany first. Awesome.
  • Cfas, that is incredibly sad. I've never heard about that either. :(
  • Huh, that's interesting, Cfas.  And yes, please, to the recipe.

  • Midge, that's funny about the Hofbrahaus!  I've been to the one in Newport a few times.  I love standing on the benches and doing the chicken dance!

I love anything French, too.  I tried to practice my French, but it wasn't needed to often.  We both also liked the pace of Paris more than London.  Lots of things were open so late, that we slept in until 9:30/10:00 most days.

Did you see my FB post in seeing Justin Beiber in Paris?  I need to post the better pictures (not from my iPhone) and the video of him singing from a balcony and all of the shrieking girls.  That was NOT Matt's favorite part of the trip.
  • Bay, I hope that everything is going okay with you.  I hate being in limbo and not knowing what's going to happen.  I'm a planner.  I need plans!

<div>Did he pretend not to know you while you were shrieking?</div>
  • Haha, no I didn't see that MP. I would have been with your H on that one though. I can't stand that kid.
  • I was NOT shrieking!  I was videotaping the shrieking!  We came out of the Pantheon in Paris and heard all of this shrieking.  I joked that it was Justin Beiber.  And it was.  He was around the corner.  Apparently he had sent out a tweet about it earlier in the day.  We were just "lucky" enough to be in the right place at the right time.

I was just laughing the whole time.
  • Sure. I believe you.
  • Morning ladies. I woke up with anxiety, so I hope it goes away soon. I don't have much going on this week, so I'll have to find someway to keep busy! That's sort of creepy about that forest in Japan. I had never heard that people travel there to commit suicide. Bay, hope everything with your housing situation gets figured out ASAP. This up in the air thing has gone on too long and it's not fair to you. Midge, eeek 5 days!! Glad you're not freaking out! I know I would be!

  • Maybe if it had been Joey McIntyre . . .
  • Matt's, you know the weather turned to shite right after you left? It's been nothing but miserable in London.
  • I know!  I saw all of the footage from the Jubillee yesterday, and it looked miserable.  I like to think that Europe was crying that we were leaving.

It's awful in New England, today!  The low is 50 and the high is 53.  YAY!!

<div>Ditto. That shirt makes your ta-tas look nice.</div>
  • Cfas, my friend from high school is stationed in Japan and he and his wife have been there. He said it's very freaky, yet no one there seems to really be bothered by it. The pictures broke his heart. Yet, he said it just seems to be something the Japanese there accept. He also said it does in a way remind him of home. We have a bridge here that is referred to as the "suicide bridge" because hundreds of people have jumped off it to their deaths. Very few have survived. No one knows why this bridge since it does overlook part of a pretty nice park. Same concept I guess?

Bay, I hope it all works out and soon. I hate it when things are still in limbo. I'm the type of person that needs to know so I can make a plan!

Kim, that sucks about the outside companies, but I'm glad you and your family have figured out a way around it. I think the matching outfits sound cute. Your dad and grandpa are going to be a big hit!

Angel, when you get anxiety, does your heart just feel like it's going too fast? I've been having that happen when I dream about the wedding. It's annoying the crap out of me!! I hope you feel better!!!

[QUOTE]Bay - I'm three weeks in (after working on it for about 3 months, HA!) and it's just starting to get tot he point where I don't want to die. Funny story, though. H is a runner, so yesterday I was telling him how great my last two runs have been on the treadmill, but I'm still going so slow. So I asked him how fast he runs on the treadmill. He says "Oh, I get up in the 8's". My running speed? 4.5. No wonder I'm such a slow poke, for real runners my running speed is walking!

Meegles-I just recently worked up to 4 when I run so by my standards, you are very impressive.  My goal is to do 5k in 40 minutes eventually but at the rate I'm going, it's going to take awhile

    Good Morning everyone!

I went tubing this weekend and had tons of fun.  And I am only a little sunburnt on my chest and back.  I'm lathering on the aloe lotion though in hopes that I avoid peeling since those areas will be exposed on the big day.

Midge-so exciting!  I am sending good vibes for the big day!  And I am oddly calm about my wedding too.  I think I hit a planning wall or something; I thought I would be overwhelmed at this point with last minute details but everything important is done and I'm not intending to do anything else until the day off.  So I'm kinda just letting everything fall where they may.  The only concern I really have that everyone is where they are supposed to be on the day of.

  • Is it just me or are there some interesting, and crazy threads going on today? I was over on DIY and customs and even on here. It seems like some people are losing it today, moreso than the norm. I know it's full moon, so that could explain it.
  • Calix, how did I not remember/notice that your wedding day is so close to mine?!? Good luck on your day as well!
