My recruiter is trying to screw me

Re: My recruiter is trying to screw me

  • Yes, yes I WAS born in Corbin! :D I'm so proud of you guys! lol Normally, I just get blank looks from that.

It's been years since I was there though.
  • Emily, perhaps.  That would take some serious work to convince H, though.  If I could ski this winter, it would be on the way to the mountains.  But, yeah.  That's not going to happen.

  • Wow, I didn't realize you were really from the area!

  • Yep!!  I had the WORST accent when I was little. I remember getting teased about it.
  • I'm pretty pumped I'm from out of state so it's not so bad for me! Although you'll probably make fun of me when we Skype with our wine ;)

  • I always imagine you with a "genteel" southern accent.  Mine was most definitely not.  Most.Definitely.

  • Not very.  You sound more mid-west than southern, I think.

  • Which is funny because I'm from the far West.

  • *ahem*  I sounded like these people.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDvkQmOdCfo&feature=related

I was watched by a hillbilly couple when I was growing up, so that's where I picked it up.
  • I ALREADY SAID I WAS A WEIRDO!!! DON'T JUDGE ME!!!

LVB, you don't sound too southern, especially considering what town you grew up in ;-)
  • I've dropped my southern accent some.  (As much as possible.)

When bartending and waiting tables, it was a plus.

Answering phones for a distributor of a globally known product?  Not so much...

  • I had a weird accent for awhile. I had my usual Southern Indiana, so close I could throw a rock at Kentucky accent mixed with a Chicago accent after I went to Purdue for 4 years. I still sometimes say my a's like I'm from Chicago and rarely pronounce the "g" for words that end in "ing" anymore.
