You've probably put some unhealthful crap into your body, sure, that may ultimately compromise your heart health & cholesterol level, etc.

But to say that the increased lung capacity, increased blood flow to your muscles, increased stamina, positive effects on stress reduction & sleep, etc., is all just "wasted' because someone ate unhealthful food afterwards is just silly.

I think the funny thing about BC is that all of the stuff in her blog isnt really all that insulting to canadians, its all typical stereotypes that weve all heard before and actually made most of the canadians laugh. I dont understand how she was sticking it to us/P2 by creating the whole blame canada thing.

Sure, it's better than downing the shake without exercising at all. And running a mile for the first time is an accomplishment. It's a great step in the right direction.

But losing weight and eating healthfully along with exercise is 10000x better for you than working out and eating like crap. Also, there's still the fact that rewarding yourself with treats like that will never help you change your relationship with food.

So in my mind, yes, the shake more than canceled out any of the health benefits from running.

  • Ditto ohwhynot about her running posts.  Running - or any exercise really - isn't just about calories in, calories out.  Thats a big part of it, yes but thats not all of it.  To say it is completely negated because of a shake is silly.  It's not.

Debbie Gibson is really quite talented. I think she still holds the record for youngest producer - she was producing her own music (as well as writing) when she was 13.

I'm with Noelle. Statements like this:

Yup. I did it all for junk food. I really didn't feel like going outside to run today but the prospect of getting my favorite treat is so worth it.

    And:

I'll be using up my entire daily allowance of calories on one meal.

Remind me of my own issues with food. It is called an eating disorder, or at least an extremely unhealthy relationship with food.

Last night I drank a root beer after my work out. Why? Because I wanted to AND I made sure I still had enough calories left in my daily allowance to be able to treat myself.

  • Whatever that thread was with all the "I'm in the lunch stall eating lunch"   "No, youre at the cool kid table"  "No I'm over there too"  was nauseating and kind of sad.  It's a message board with like, 100 regulars.   I'm pretty sure the "cool kids" is all a matter of perspective.   There's people here that others probably consider "cool kids" that I couldn't even name.  There's people I would name as "cool kids" if asked, that some of you new people wouldn't even recognize.  It's all individual perspective.  And also, really sad that anyone would take the time to worry about it in the first place.   This isn't high school.
