Is there a Saturday chat thread?

  • Honestly I don't know why he thought it was a good idea. He and his wife weren't very bright. They allowed him and his 2 year old sister to watch Saw all the time as well.

[QUOTE]I do not understand taking toddlers to a theater.  Their attention spans are not long enough for a full length movie in a theater.  Then they cry and ruin the movie for everyone else.  Fuuckk those people.

<div>The movie theater I used to work at opened early on Saturdays and showed movies designed for toddlers. I think Veggie Tales was a popular one. </div>
  • Oh man. That is not good judgment. I guess a 2 year old can't really process the Saw movies and likely wouldn't remember, but still. Yikes.

  • There are theaters here that do a matinee mommy and me movie showing of some new releases. I can understand taking your toddler to see one of those.

Nope that was a different person.

We don't socialize with this family anymore as they have divorced and gone their separate ways. We had a St. Patricks day party with this family where everyone in the house was getting drunk and the kids were running adminst all of us. The wife sexually assaulted me and then ran out of the house later than night crying and got into her car drunk and backed into my car drove around the block and then parked it back where it was. There was lots of drama between them.

<div>My parents watched horror movies after I went to bed. One of my few memories of being a very young child is walking into the room because of a bad dream while they were watching Carrie. The part at the end where her hand shoots up out of the ground and grabs that girl and it's all covered in blood is something I <em>still</em> have nightmares about. And I only saw that ONE part. </div>
  • Good lord. I sure hope those kids grow up alright... o.o
  • I remember my mom letting my sister and I watch Die Hard: With a Vengeance when I was little and kicking us out of the room when they were watching Silence of the Lambs. I can understand the second but why she let us watch the first with the language I will never know.

  • My parents never minded me watching stuff with bad language, as far as I can remember. They knew I understood that some words were not okay to use, even if I heard other people say them. They drew the line at things that would disturb me. The Carrie thing was a slip up.
  • Funny story though, my first F-bomb was when I was very young. My mother used it a lot so I guess that's where I picked it up. My grandfather was visiting from NO (very straight laced type guy) and evidently I had some really loud gas and giggled and said "Oh fuuuccck I farted."  Evidently my father almost died laughing while my mom and grandfathers mouths hung open. I still laugh when they tell that story.
  • My parents were VERY strict with my movies when I was younger. Like, PG-13 was at their discretion until I was actually 13, and same with R. Of course, this just meant I'd see those movies when I went to friend's houses, lol. Of course once my brothers came along, they were much less strict. Pfft.

  • I guess that's true. My mom was just weird about which movies she let us watch.

</div><div>Boys are naturally less innocent than girls, didn't you know? You pretty much <em>have</em> to be more strict with girls. It's in the manuel - look it up.

Mine were too. I wasn't allowed to see anything PG 13 til I was 13... And I couldn't even do it at my friend's houses because I had to much of a conscience and I'd end up telling on myself, haha.

  • Haha, Poke. I don't know if that was my parents reasoning or not. I think it was more just that it was the typical "more lax with other children" after the first kid. I am the oldest so I got the brunt of all the rules. But it also turned me into a stereotypical oldest child, with lots of responsibility and being used to striving for the best, blah blah.

<div>That's hilarious. Kids came to my house to watch movies they weren't supposed to. Not that my parents did that on purpose. We'd ask if we could watch a movie, they'd ask if the other parents said it was okay, they'd say yes. It was a lie, but my parents didn't need to know that.</div>
