And for the record, Kristin just told Sweetpea (in the thread about talking to her ILs about depression) that she should NEVER tell her ILs something so personal and that she should spend less time with them so that they don't notice if she's quiet. Emily I'm still just baffled about the whole thing.  I am now going to burst the bubble of everyone I know now when they talk about the show.  Just because I'm mean like that.  If I can't enjoy it anymore, neither can they!

I loved all of you, and it ended up on page 1.  Three times.  Fun stuff. 

Emily, my mind is blown right now.  My faith in pretty much everything has been destroyed.  What else is tv lying to me about?  WHAT ELSE?

I know she was brought up like four pages ago (or 8, or 1...it's still sort of crazy) but Kristin#s is like my favorite irrational person in the world.  I get really excited when I see that she's posted.  I'm like "yay, 1954 crazy!"  I picture her, always, in a tea length long sleeved dress in a sensible and respectable color with pumps and pearls, and she is always making "tsk" noises and telling me to pick up my room and mind my mother. 

ETA- Or, she was mentioned on this page.  My knot is broken

I laughed at Squirrly's comment on here earlier about Kristin.  She actually has posted some things lately that I don't completely disagree with.  So I feel like I need to flame myself for actually agreeing with her on some topics, because that must just mean I'm crazy as well.

Kristin#s is my favorite crazy person too. I actually enjoy Calypso's craziness sometimes now that I've come to understand her and stopped being offended by some of the things she says.

It was fun, but it was also 3.5 days of filming which were really exhausting, so hells no I would not have done it for free. I'm actually kind of embarrassed about being on TV, I just like money.

I love the British home shows.  They are so much snarkier than the American ones.

I will be taping all of the IHH until I see Emily's one.  I am a little sad that the whole thing is sort of fake, but I still love real estate porn, so I'm not going to stop watching.  Did anyone see the HH in Fiji?  I was just dying over the homes there.  I want to move.

I feel wonky because of cold medicine (I flame H for making me take so much) and disoriented from the timing stuff on the Knot.

Haha.  $1500 for 3 days is really good.  Especially since they did all the moving furniture for you, and you really didn't have to stress about which home to pick or  buy or anything.  So did you know all that when you applied?  How did you find out you already had to own the place?  And did you have to provide your own people and other properties?

They contacted me through my blog because they were trying to find people in new places that aren't the typical US expat spots. I said that I already owned a place and thought that would disqualify me, they said that was fine since I'd bought within the past two years and explained it's all kind of fake anyway, told us how many days it would be, the money, etc. They asked if I knew an English-speaking realtor who'd be interested, which I did, otherwise they would have found one. The realtor is paid less but gets publicity for the business, and (s)he has to provide the other properties.

Wow, so basically, the realtor just picked two places that weren't as good fits for you to pretend to try to sell to you?  Weird.  Well, it's probably a good deal for him/her, since it's a chance to showcase two places really on the market.  What did they use as your "old" residence?  Another fake set-up?

Well, they had to be somewhat in our price range, somewhat believable. If we'd really been choosing among the three, we would have chosen ours, but the positives we talk about for each are the real positives that we thought when we saw them.

They actually filmed one day in CA when I was home - just so happened we already had plans to be in CA - so you see my "last day in California." Basically they compressed my life into I just graduated from school and am moving to Chile to be with Rodolfo (which happened in 2007) into me arriving and us buying somewhere (2008) and getting married (2010) right away. It's so awkward. Please don't all laugh when you see us, they forced us to be cheery, and H and I just keep saying "let's go!" every time the realtor says "ok, shall we see the dining room/bedroom/next property?"
