Though I really could use a full leg and foot massage. lol

The furthest West I've ever had acceptable poutine was in Kanata (outside Ottawa), everything West of that is nasty.

  • I agree with you, Nebb. She does post good times too. And I don't really have an issue with the complaints at all, but FFS, if you have a complaint, you don't have to justify why you're complaining about it. Sometimes, things just bother you...and that's perfectly normal.

    Yep. Cheap imitation poutine.

In Western Quebec (Drummondville) they do a poutine festival. I've never felt so fat in my life. I was about to pop, I swear.

  • But you know, if I were to always go on about the pasta and all that stuff, then people would tell me shut up because I'm always bragging about being in italy.  It's really a no-win situation.  If you want to say I complain a lot, I'll take that, because I do.  But don't relate it to where I live or say that I can't complain BECAUSE of where I live.

I don't mind the complaining; we all do it to some extent.  I am put off by Amoro's recent tendency to take out her "bad days" on the entire board.  I've liked her since my lurker days, but some of the things she's said to Rach and Meagan have been downright nasty.  It makes me sad, because Amoro-on-a-good-day is wicked fun.  But Amoro-on-a-bad-day?  She's kind of a bully.  :(

  • OK, I didn't defend my self last time and figured that not posting here on etiquette would be a solution.  I made the comments about the luger dying because I am a staff physician to the major trauma center he was flown to.  And if you guys for one second can imagine a whole city waiting in anticipation for something wonderful to happen (ie the olympics) and then something horrifying happens.  It would be like if someone dropped dead at your wedding.  I was horrified, not excited and by no means bragging.

I gave some information about HPV and PAP smears that was needed by two people posting in that thread.  Gardisil protects again 4 types of HPV, yes, but those are the 4 that are linked to cervical cancer.  There is alot of dangerous misinformation out there about womens health particulary.  I'm absolutely not in the habit of posting things just to sound like a smart-a$$.  I feel a responsibility as a physician and a clinical instructor to ensure that people have the right facts.

    That's it.  Flame away.

I'm not sure if you're joking or if you actually don't find it awesome. In the US, people often lobby against single payer healthcare because they say Canada's system sucks. Except... well, I don't know that many Canadians feel that way, and not EVERY health care system has to be set up that way, you know?

  • I was in Ottawa and decided to try Poutine.
For some reason, I was thinking I needed to try and pronounce it with a French accent, but not knowing what that would be, I said, I'd like the poo-tan.
The waiter smiled at me so I immediately said, or is it poo-teen. And he said, poo-teen is just fine.
So, get it, eat it, love it.
Get home hours later and think about how I know a little Italian and my thought process was like this:

Hmm, "poo-tan" sounds like the equivalent of puttana in Italian.

    Puttana in Italian means whore.

Holy ***. I told the waiter I'd like a whore!

No wonder he smiled like that at me. So polite though, he didn't laugh in my face!
  • This is a minor flame, but I do flame everybody in my post the other day who used the "well he's a guy, he probably forgot/didn't bother to look it up" excuse.  I hate when people do that.  He's a guy.  He's not an infant, or mentally disabled, or comatose.  Just because he has a penis dosen't mean that he's suddenly excused from basic courtesy like bothering to check the date of a wedding he's asked to be in sooner than 4 weeks prior.  Men aren't suddenly excused from being idiots because they're men.  It's a cop-out.   It's like women who use PMS as an excuse to act like a total bitchwhoar for 7 days out of the month.  Just because your vag is bleeding doesn't give you an excuse to act like a heifer.  I'm not talking about people who really DO have problems with PMS, but those who are all "I'm on my period, so I can act like a twatwaffle and my boyfriend/husband/fiance/family/friends will just have to deal with it because I'm on my peeeeeeriod!"
