Hello? Anyone else here?

Re: Hello? Anyone else here?

  • Grits-It's 74 degrees here today, which is really weird because yesterday it was about 50 and I was wearing a sweater. So frusterating.

Loopy-Yes. We bought a house. We close on the 31st.

[QUOTE]Weather here is better than it's been in a week.<strong> All week it was hovering around -40 with the wind, -30F without the wind,</strong> so I'll take any warming up Mother Nature chooses to bring here. It's a fantastic 26F here today, so that's a great improvement. We're "going home" next weekend, so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone then.

Anything above 65 is good for me.  I hate how this winter it is so dramatic with the weather.  Can't it just decide it it wants to be cold or not?!  It's so annoying.
  • Congrats Crash!  You'll have so much fun while making it your HOME. :).

  • I'm making a recipe tonight that calls for seasoned rice vinegar.  I could only find unseasoned.  Does anyone know what I need to do to compensate or if it will make too much difference?

  • mrs.jesse-  That's always the best part about moving somewhere.  I try not to keep crap I know I don't need, but FI on the other hand...he's weird.  He keeps every single chew can that is empty, and all his work papers, tattoo drawings, everything.  It is so frustrating when I try to clean and ask him if I can throw things away and he says no.
  • Hello everyone! I see we are talking about weather. It's been 80 here this weekend. Pretty nice.

Yesterday FI and I went to Animal Kingdom. After that we rented a carpet cleaner and have cleaned all the carpets in the house. Right now I'm cooking dinner and trying to figure out wording for invitations so I can order them.

Well come on over then, Erin! I'm originally from Michigan, and I've never seen such a perpetual blanket of clouds like I've seen here.

Course, I don't think it helps that the sun is down by 4 so...

<div>I love rice vinegar. It's one of my favorite and most used pantry staples. I've never used seasoned, but what are you making? I don't think it would make too much of a difference.</div>
  • J - according to THIS website.  Seasoned rice vinegar has salt and sugar added.

  • Grits-I know, I'm annoyed with the weather lately. All the time its a roller coaster.

Loppy-Thanks! Since Fi has been OOT this week I've gotten most of my stuff packed and labeled what it is/who's it is/where it will go.
Last time we moved literally everything got stacked in the living room and we had to sort it out by ourselves. It was ridiculous.

    Lucky duck.
  • So my sister will be 5 months pregnant when we get married and she hasn't bought her dress yet. How should we go about getting the dress? It's not exactly pregnant friendly, but we won't know what size she'll be by then.
  • J&K,  http://www.foodista.com/food/ZWYFGTNH/seasoned-rice-vinegar#

In the "about" section it tells you how to mix a good ratio of sugar/salt with your unseasoned rice vinegar to make it seasoned.
  • I'm making this:

    http://www.fortheloveofcooking.net/2009/06/orange-thai-flank-steak.html

Thanks for the link, Loops!  I just found one too that says you can dissolve sugar and a pinch of salt (3 to 1 vinegar to sugar, yikes) into the vinegar too.  I guess I'll just do that!

Haha he hates hoarders.  I secretly throw a few out after he adds so many, so it doesn't get insane.  He has them all neatly piled in a desk drawer.  He doesn't use them for anything, but I wash them out and use them to hold my bobby pins, hair ties, rings, earrings, etc.  At least I found a use for them.

Hm, she shouldn't be too big by then, unless she is super skinny.  Ask the store you are getting the dress at how they would work with you if it gets closer and the dress won't fit.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Hello? Anyone else here? : Haha, yes we do. Straight temperature without wind must be at least -35C as recorded at 6:30AM, or it must be -45C with the wind chill. So we had one snow day this week, which means that the school buses don't run, and students are not penalized for not coming to school. Schools are still open (we never close- ever.), and all staff must be at school. <strong>We usually end up with between 25-50% of our classes those days.</strong>

I'm shocked by this.  I know if it were where I went to school, nobody would have showed up.  Maybe like, 5 out of the entire classroom.<div>
</div><div>I told Kyle about how many show up and he thinks it's crazy that people actually show up haha.</div>
  • Aleigh - she probably won't be too big by then.  Most bridal stores are used to dealing with pregnant bridesmaids/MOH's so they probably can recommend how far up she should order.  I'd order two sizes bigger and plan to alter it to fit as needed, but the store may have a better recommendation or a way to accommodate it.

  • I know in my hometown, if it was too cold for the busses (usually about -10F without the wind) school was closed.  But when I was in Grand Forks, ND for a year, on the coldest day of winter when it was -38F WITHOUT the wind, I drove to campus, driving past bundled up little elementary school kids walking to school.  I was floored.

  • Jesse, I've totally forgotten where you live?

Grits, there are schools here that take place entirely outside-- rain, snow, hail, you name it.

Hell, they don't even plow on the weekends because that would mean someone would have to work overtime!!

  • We got snow Friday night, and I was impressed that they plowed my street on a Saturday morning.  We live right by a school, so during the week our street is done pretty early for school traffic, but weekends are usually a whole different story.
