I really don't care about football all that much, I think it's fun to watch but my hometown team sucks (Rams). I do have a lot of friends down in LA though who were totally psyched about that win. And I was happy for them.
I hate Twilight. I feel like it was horribly written and SM hates women. THe movies were horribly done and the acting was terrible. I think Robert Pattinson was a much better Cedric. I hate going into a restraunt and people having their screaming children. If you can't control your child, don't bring it out. I want to enjoy a nice meal out with my FI, not try to get through my meal as fast as possible because you don't want to discipline your kid. I hate that a gay couple isn't allowed to adopt. They love each other and would love to have a child, but because they're "going against god" you don't want to let them have a child. You instead want thousands of kdis in foster care draining the government... Makes sense. I hate that people in the US call football "soccer". It's called football. You know what FIFA stands for? Federal Internation Football Assosciation. What Americans call football is pansy a$$ rugby. I don't get as excited about football any other time than the World Cup because there isn't anything like the World Cup! Yes, I'm going to be excited and talk with people about it. No, it doesn't mean that I don't know or watch it on a regular basis. I hate pretty much every sport. I find American sports to be extremely boring. And I'm American. I like hockey and football. Why would you waste your time to watch any of the other boring sports out there?
    Posted by Audrey&Austin
This just shows you know nothing about American football. How is it pansy rugby? Because they wear pads? It's a different game with different tackling styles and way more injuries. I don't think you can call American football "pansy" and not acknowledge the drama queens who play soccer.

DItto this. I went to a wedding last weekend and they all had on matching dresses. Out of the four, it looked good on one of them and like sh!t on the rest of them (especially the pregnant one, and it was not her fault). Clearly we're not all shaped the same, so why should several women ever be forced to wear the same dress that may or may not be flattering.
In Response to Re: Unpopular opinions? : see, I think in some circumstances it's ok. for example, corgis are used a LOT on ranches for herding, so they often breed the ones they have to work. I don't like breeding just to make money, or just to show. I think showing dogs takes them so far away from dogs' roots. believe it or not, dogs love to work.
    Posted by laladypoet
As a breeder....if you're doing it correctly you aren't making money. I typically barely break even and the program is all about the dogs. Breeding, if done correctly, is about creating the healthiest and most well tempered dogs of a specific breed. I obviously see no problem with breeding responsibly.

I agree that certain breeds like to work. Mine are genuinely lazy.....till you get them into a faux hunting trial.

There is nothing exciting to me about watching people try to run a couple yards, try to catch a ball, miss, get tackled, call time out, etc. I find real football to be an active where something is constantly happening. Yes, they are drama queens, but try getting slide tackled when you're running at full speed. They don't wear pads really, so that is a really painful experience.

And since this is a thread about "Unpopular Opinions" I feel like this was the perfect place to vent all of my frustrations about the American Football. I find it to be quite boring and slow.

You can't say it's way more injuries. I watch the Tri-Nations and 4 Nations and Super 12 religiously; as well as SA leagues when I can get them and they're forever getting hurt. But yes, you can't compare them, they are totally different games.

  • Oh, and for the record, I'd like to jump on the 'I hate Twilight' bandwagon, but not for the usual reasons. I couldn't give two sh!ts about the movies; of course they're going to be horrible, what movie besides LoTR ever did it's book justice?? But, you can't make a good movie at all unless the book plot gives you something. And Twilight just doesn't. It's just another teen angst story with vampires thrown in to make it more interesting. And the vampire stuff doesn't even make sense. SM couldn't write a good book if her life depended on it. I really wanted to tear the part of my brain out that housed those stories after I read it...I feel it's bringing down my IQ as I speak!

That's not what FIFA stands for. It's Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

And I think it comes across as pretentious when people from the US call soccer football. It's the same as insisting on calling it a lorry/lift/loo/crisps just because the Brits do. I'm half English, but I was raised almost entirely in the US, so I use the words of where I grew up.

ETA: Jasmineh, I know you're entitled to your unpopular opinion and all, but I really don't get your stance on sports.

You're right. I should have clarified--American football players DO get more major injuries (broken necks, etc.), but ruggers likely get more less serious injuries. And I'm not making fun of rugby--I love it! I used to be a lock (#5).

I don't care if people don't like football, just don't call it pansy.
