Don't ever think I won't AW my wedding stuff! I did a first dress fitting (no pics) and hair and makeup trial on Saturday.

  • mery- LOVE the hair trial!! My hair's a little shorter but that's similar to what we're going to do with mine. How fun!!
  • Thanks! I wasn't sure my hair would be long enough to pull off anything, but it turned out like I'd hoped.

(Side note - it's about collar bone length and usually looks terrible, so I can't wait to chop it.)

Very lovely, Mery! Your makeup looks great in the first pic.

ETA: Also, half-back hair is the way to go for fuss-free wedding fun. I didn't love the way my wedding hair turned out by a long shot, BUT it was stress-free all night.

  • My mom had a cow over the fact that I'm not having an updo. I'm like, "WHEN in my life have I ever had a fancy updo? I don't even like to wear ponytails. My face is round and looks terrible with my hair back." I much prefer half-up on me. And I know I won't really worry about it! I'm just considering maybe a darker lip color...

I REALLY want to chop my hair.  I'm so scared.  I've had long hair most of my life.  My face is so round I think I'll look like a mushroom.
    Photobucket
  • kelly- there are plenty of good short haircuts for round faces. :) Mine is very long and ovaly so I need to be careful too. I've got my cut picked out and it will DEFINITELY take some getting-used-to.

BUT this constant feeling of my hair against my neck is my driving force to chop it no matter what. Blllech.

I found a website recently that had samples of short cuts depending on face shape... let me see if I can find it again.
  • I'm always waaayy late on these things, stupid work. :-)

Ak - I like you because you are down to earth, and I'm hoping that your big day this Saturday is awesome!

Amoro - You give some great advice. Some people think it's you being mean, but you're honest, and no one can fault you for that.

Nugget & Fish - You two crack me up, and whenever you're on a thread I know there will be some laughs

I'm still a newbie, and have been lurking for a while, but have recently started posting more.

Same here. I wanted a dramatic up-do, but I have a hump-neck and round face. I feel ya.

And I think the lip-color from your trial is really nice. In the last pic, which looks like it's in natural sunlight, it's distinctive and defines your lips but is still natural-looking. I think it would look great in pictures. Unless you're doing pin-up style makeup, I think it's tricky to do the dark lip thing when you're fair-skinned too. But that's just my opinion. :)

  • What the heck does AW mean?  I've been here long enough and thats the only one I don't know!

I also would love to cut my hair short because I'm really lazy and hate doing anythng to it, but I'm afraid I'll look like a boy.  And because of my laziness I need to be able to pull it in a ponytail.

That's exactly what I did the first time I chopped my hair. It was in college... I usually had it shoulder-length but in college I went on this "I won't cut my hair until I graduate" kick. So it got reeeeeeeeeally long. I'd finally had enough, went to my stylist and said CHOP IT. I told him I wanted it shorter than my jaw line. I literally covered my eyes until he was done. Now I love it!
