Not a problem! I'm still not sure on some of the acronyms around here. When in doubt, make up your own. That's what I think.

And btw - the acronym for "that's what I think" is TWIT which I decided was not entirely appropriate.

I maintain that they were trying to say class. That callout made me raff.
  • I love that Chinglish has become the accepted language here on E
  • I do too, Amoro. FI does it at home all the time and it never stops making me laugh.

  • You know, I actually double checked dictionary.com JUST to be sure I wasn't confused as to the definition.  Nope.

I'm going to have to practice being crass to live up to my rep, I suppose.  I'm open to suggestions.  Ya know, since I'm supposed to learn from this call out.

  • Mery you look GORGEOUS.  I love the makeup!

I just cut most of my hair off in a reverse bob, so the back is really short from being a little longer than shoulder length.  Noodle threw a hissy fit because he wanted me to grow my hair super long "like Beyonce".  I'm all "Uh, honey...?  Weave.  That's a weave."

    Bless his little white heart.

    ROR.

I can't even understand why they would say that.  I don't get it at all.  Squirrly is the last person I would equate with the word "crass".

  • OMG... Beyonce. HAHAHA... I've never known a black girl with hair naturally that long.  Why do boys have this thing with long hair?!

I think Nuggs should give you lessons on being crass though Squirrly.  And when she's not available, I'll be her crass whiteup.
  • DAMMIT!  I keep forgetting to tell Mery how beautimous she is.
  • Um, I'm glad andy.  Cause I luff you.  You need a bio.  So I can stalk it.

I love chinglish.  Or should I say rove chingrish.  H sometimes gets mad because he has lots of asian ties from tae kwon do and stuffs.

I didn't realize Asians were into polygamy. ;)

Look, I'm not trying to be the language police here, but I'm just asking that we not jump straight to "this is an accepted language on E." I realize some people find it funny, some who are Asian or are married to Asians (or part Asians, like LC), and that people will make the "ror" jokes and have fun with it. That's fine. But it is something that is offensive to some people, and I am just responding to it being proclaimed a-ok all around.

Amoro, I know your H is Asian. I've never been of the camp that feels it's okay to say anything potentially offensive regarding race if you belong to that race. I know Asian people who use "chinglish" and think it's funny, and I know Asian people who think it's really offensive. It seems from what you've said that you and your H are good with joking about it this way at home. That's cool. I am not of that mindset, and I am Asian, so I was just expressing my feelings.

No offense Beatles, but until you can come up with a non-white person who's offended by the ROR jokes or the blackup... I can't give you too much credit on this one.  Most people I know are of the firm opinion that if you can't laugh about this crap, well, you're doomed.

It's not like we're going to speak Chinglish ALLLLLL the time.  That's way too hard.
