Irrational Irritations

A) My co-worker keeps saying 'There again'- as in, 'There again, we billed you in October'.  This doesn't even make sense, and she's saying it over and over and over again.  Also, she was eating something and saying her 'taste buds came alive!'  I'm irrationally irritated with her.

B) A guy passed me on a one-lane road today, while I was going 10 miles over the speed limit.  I can't get over it.  I still want to punch him.

What irrationally irritates you?

  • Oh god.  I hate that sound the wipers make when there's either not enough moisture or they wind is making them scrape across the windscreen.  I have shivers just thinking about it!  I.hate.it.  It drives me so insane and I can't understand why people aren't driven as crazy by it!  The other night, H left them going doing that for about 15 minutes and I was about to reach out and rip them off the car!!
  • Whenever my boss puts any piece of paper on my desk it's done with a big flourish like it's the greatest piece of paper that ever came into existence. And it irritates the crap out of me.

Someone stole the scissors off my desk last week and I can't figure out who did it or where they are. I'm still irrationally mad about it. And I feel like that guy in "Office Space".

  • I get really mad when the assholes who I work with steal glassware and other supplies out of my cabinets/drawers.  The stuff is put away for a reason, jerks!

The guy on the radio morning show I listen to says 'literally' practically in every sentence.  This just started in the last few weeks.  The worst part is he says it like 'litta-lee'.  He makes me yell at him every morning.  So irritating.

  • I HATE when my boss asks me "What are you going right now?" I know she's just trying to keep me on track - but it irritates the crap out of me. Especially when I'm on FB or knotting. Gotta keep my priorities straight lol.

I know it's stupid but I get so irritated when Pandora doesn't listen to me. I always "thumbs down" Savage Garden and stupid Backstreet Boys songs that annoy me and I swear thats all it wants to play. I'm on the NSync station, dammit. Gimme some Dirty Pop!!!

It's been one of those days lol.
  • Sounds like you need a lock, Doc!  ;)

Oh, I have another one.  I hate it when my H puts his drinks on the coffee table right NEXT to a coaster.  WHY??
    image
  • If you're listening to the NSync station, I don't think you can blame Pandora for thinking you'd enjoy some Backstreet Boys.

  • Irrational, I know...
But I get annoyed when someone yawns without covering their mouth.  I don't want to see your tonsils. It's just those long, mouth gaping yawns that get to me.

I've been in/out of the hospital all weekend visiting my uncle.  I get really irritated when someone doesn't let me exit the elevator before they enter.  I want to give them a link to Miss Manners.

[QUOTE]I can not stand it when people say "Where you at?" It's horrible grammar, and it doesn't even shorten the sentence. And I hear intelligent, educated people saying it! It makes me so annoyed. When people bring their small children to the dog park, where there is a large sign saying "Dogs play ruff!" and "Children 8 and under not allowed." Then, when their kids are running around and screaming like maniacs and my dog chases them, the parents flip out and say my dog is vicious. No, she is a dog. And your kids running around like idiots. Either sit them down on a bench, or get the hell out of the park before they get run over.

I get annoyed in general with people when they act like my dog is going to attack them or their kids, especially when they come up to HER! She's a lab, so she's naturally hyper and sweet - she's gonna jump on you even if I ask her not to. She just wants love. Don't come up to a dog that is begging for dog love if you dont want to deal with what happens when you give it to her.

Haha, true. But when I "thumbs down" the same Backstreet Boys song every time it comes on you'd think it would get the hint that "Show me the meaning of being lonely" is annoying. Stop playing it! Same thing with Savage Garden "I knew I loved you" I dont know why Pandora thinks I like that song - I know I've thumbs downed it 4 times this week.

  • TR, that was great. Aww, TJ :(

But seriously, that was going to be my irritation - parents who watch as their kids lunge at Lola's face. Lola is nice, and she doesn't bite, but she doesn't particularly like most kids and runs away from them. And honestly, if she were in a situation where she couldn't run away from some toddler trying to stick its fingers in her eyes and growled or snapped, that would not be her fault. Parents should know to teach their kids to ask if a dog is ok to pet, and I always tell the kids "no, you need to ask," and then parents get all "ohhhh, yeeeees, listen to the señora." Hey, how bout you parent you kid instead of making me do it for you?
  • Traffic.  I know it's unavoidable and I should prepare for it each & everyday but it p!sses me off twice a day, 5 days a week.

I hate pumping my own gas.  It's so annoying and I miss the 'luxury' of living in NJ and having an attendant do it for you.

I am already so OVER the crowds of people at the mall for the holiday season.  I can't take the packed parking lots, screaming kids with runny noses and Christmas carols.  Please, just let me eat turkey before all the Christmas stuff starts.

  • I can't stand the sound of people blowing their noses.
  • Since we are on the topics of dogs, my puppy wasn't socialized when I adopted her so I'm working on that with her.  She is all cute & tiny so people always want to touch her and of course she growls because she is afraid of everything & everyone that isn't mommy or daddy.  I always say: please ignore her, don't touch her, don't talk to her just leave her alone and let her come to you on her own terms.  Nobody ever listens.  Why can't they pet my other 2 dogs?  No they always have to go for the shaking puppy that's hiding behind my leg.

  • I hate stupid people.

Which means I hate at least 1/2 the population of the world.
  • I get irrationally angry at people who don't pay their bus fare. Here you pay with this little swipe card, but sometimes people get on through the back doors and just don't pay (this is not allowed, but the drivers often don't have much recourse especially if it's a group of guys who look like they wouldn't mind a fight, which it often is). You are not cool for beating the system, and don't you dare bitch about how prices keep going up because it's the fault of people like you who think they deserve - literally - a free ride.

There are people at my work who blow their noses like a friggin car horn, and I can't stand it. There are also a couple people that will sniff in really loud when their nose is running. I don't know how to describe it, but I just want to yell at them everytime. SIL breathes really loud when we're eating, I just want to smack her.

Mainly, I just hate when people breathe loud for any reason.

  • When people j-walk slowly across the street and then glare at you like they're more entitled to be in the street than you are. People J-walk all the time near my work and it drives me crazy. It's one thing to run across the street when you're not near an intersection, but it's another to s-l-o-w-l-y walk and cause all of traffic to pretty much come to a stand still because you're lazy and can't giddy up.

cfas, that would irritate the hell out of me too. It's a dog park, not a kiddie park. Some people have serious entitlement issues. Maybe that's the theme of my irritations today...

I hate it when I have to practically have a death grip on Oz in pet stores and parents still let their kids climb all over Oz. I generally like to socialize and let people pet my dog or pet other dogs, but I really don't like being forced to stand there for 10 minutes so everyone can let their kid pet him. The worst is when the kid follows you all around the store continuing to ask if they can pet your dog.

OMG I'm a bitch. :( It's the food poisoning talking.
  • We had some new neighbors move in, with a little kid and a dog.  The first time they saw me walking my dog, the woman asked if he was friendly.  I said 'not really' and she seemed really affronted.  Now she always gives me this huge berth when we're out.  The thing is, he just doesn't get along with other dogs- he's not going to breathe fire and kill her.  He'd probably like her kid, but the dog is always with them, so... oh well.
