Irrational Irritations

Re: Irrational Irritations

  • I get so MAD when I'm walking in a congested area and the person in front of me just stops.

  • I hate when I'm shopping and looking through a rack of clothes and someone comes and stands next to me to look through the same rack.  Hate.

  • People who bang on the doorbell repeatedly without giving you a chance to get up and get the door.

Although I think that's a pretty rational annoyance.

  • cengle, it was a regular occurance for students to get hit at my university. A professor was actually killed when I was there because she was trying to cross a 6 lane highway when she didn't have the walk signal.

Thanks cfas :) He would never hurt a fly, but they don't know that.

Matilda, I went to the store Sunday night and that was the exact situation I encountered. TWO carts were in separate spots right next to the cart corral.

Also, I hate people who shop in grocery stores really slowly. I usually want to get in and get out. I don't get people who just leisurely walk around like they have no where else to be. I also hate the people that have 123987 kids running around the section that I want something from and I have to stand there and wait for them to finally pick out which brand of cheese they want after they've consulted with each of the 123987 kids and come to a consensus.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Irrational Irritations : It's astonishing to me. They do all the no-nos for being near a scared dog. DIrect eye contact, stiff body language, and walking towards her ... all the while she is growling like crazy. GO AWAY. The funny thing is, once she knows you, she is the biggest sweetheart ever. It just takes her a long time to warm up to someone. One more, not dog related -- I hate it when people with a full cart of items go through the self-checkout at a grocery store. Yes, it's not 15-items or less, but I have a gallon of milk and you have an ENTIRE CART. And, 9 times out of 10, the person is clueless on how to work the machine anyway.

I know!  My pup is really affectionate and if you come to my house and ignore her she will eventually be sleeping in your lap.

I can't stand when people are in the 10 items or less line with clearly more than 10 items.

  • I hate when I'm in a grocery store and someone leaves their cart sitting in the middle of an aisle while they wander up and down trying to decide which cereal they want and I have to manuver their cart out of they way and then they look irritated with me for touching their cart.  I want to yell, "Hey, that cart doesn't belong to you and neither does this aisle!"

  • That's crazy Birdie.  I'm terrified of crossing the street in the crosswalk, with a "walk" sign near my apartment, b/c the drivers are lunatics. I almost get hit on a weekly basis, and I'm doing everything right!
Pretty much everything about my location right now makes me irrationally irritated...thank goodness I'm moving soon!

Another irritation: I love children for the most part, but I do not love parents who let their kids run willy nilly all around a super-crowded mall.  Yes, douchebag, other people are here Christmas shopping other than you and your little precious babies.
  • I hate it when people write checks in the self-check line.  Clearly, you're going to have to interact with a store employee, so why not just go in the regular line?  (also goes for people using lots of coupons, food stamps, any other special needs-a-cashier items)

Countdowns on FB that last more than 10 days.

ETA: And by that, I mean, a person who begins to only post statuses that are counting down.

November 15: ONLY 35 MORE DAYS UNTIL VACATION!!!!!!!
Novemeber 16: OMG!!! ONLY 34 DAYS TO GO!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!!!
    November 17: 33 DAYS!!! IT'S ALMOST HERE!!!!!
    November 18: 32 DAYS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!

At least make it interesting if you're going to do that, you know? "In just 32 days, I'll be getting drunk at my holiday office party! Woo!"

    Something.

FI always wants to go through self-check when we are buying liquor. I don't get it. We're going to have to show the lady our ID's anyways, so why not go through a regular line??
  • 1) When I see someone get off a machine at the gym and not wipe it down afterwards.

    2) When people come in to yoga class late.

    3) When people use their turn signal for curves in the road or in parking structures (you can only go one way, idiot!)

    4) When people try to share a parking space with me. It happens all the time with my car now because I'm so small. People CONSTANTLY pull in to the space next to me crooked with their back tire like all the way in my spot.

I do that if that's all I'm going for, because I am not going to wait in line behind the person who is buying every single ingredient that they could possibly need for the entire holiday season to buy my bottle of Moscato. :)
  • This is completely rediculous, but Myspace is making me irrationally mad right now. I never get on there, but I got an update about something that I want to go check. However, they've completely changed things and I can't find anything!!
  • THROAT CLEARING.

Seriously.  It makes me want to punch a baby.

God help you if you are a habitual throat clearer and sit near me at work.

That's awesome. I once did a demonstration for a woman who didn't put her cart away in the parking lot. I was already walking mine over (from farther away than she was) when she pushed her cart into a parking space. After I took mine I went back and got hers and her attention. Then I proceeded to put the cart in the coral, turn around and motion to the spot for her and said something like "That wasn't so hard, now was it?". She didn't appreciate it and actually called me a name, but DH thought it was hilarious.

PEOPLE THAT GO INTO PUBLIC WITHOUT SOCKS/SHOES.

  • Foster puppy is making me irrationally irritated lately, and I feel bad about it. She keeps peeing on the floor once a day - she seems to know it's wrong, we take her out frequently, yet last night for example 2 hours after going out I noticed a puddle. I know it's irrational because she is a puppy and that's how they are, but on the other hand I did not want this dog, and it drives me crazy that I keep having to clean it up (and that in one area, the floor now smells like pee despite cleaning it, so we need to get some Nature's Miracle or similar).

I take my shoes off when I'm in my office sometimes because I like to sit in lotus while I work. But it's not like I walk around the whole building like that.

  • In my off period, sometimes I'll take off my shoes under my desk, but I wouldn't walk around without them on.

    People are strange.
  • People who wear entirely too much perfume irritate me.  Can you not comprehend that some of your coworkers may have asthma and/or allergies.  Don't you get that overly fragrant perfume can make it difficult for some people to breathe?

    Yeah, apparently not.

I've seen this guy walking into the building carrying his shoes, so I wonder when he actually does wear them. He also wears the same pants every single day because "we just sit all day, it's not like they get dirty."

I would never walk into our bathroom without shoes. The women I work with are disgusting and seemingly physically incapable of cleaning up after themselves. It's embarrassing.
