My aunt is coming out to visit next week, and mentioned making some crazy meal, like a turducken. Well that's all H had to hear because he's been asking me to make him one forever. I've found a few recipes online, but don't know how crazy it will be.
So has anyone ever made one? Do you have a good recipe for it? Thanks!
Re: Anyone ever make a Turducken?
It looks like it'd be good though. But I can't help you.

This year, they decided to have the KFC "Double down" sandwich as the inspiration for the turducken(clicky). As a result, the duck was wrapped in bacon, the turkey was deep fried, and there was a cheese sauce to put on the top. It was amazing. I am looking for pics, but can't find any.
It took us 24 hours to put everything together, the brine and all that jazz, and eight hours to cook.
Let me see if I can find a picture.

[QUOTE]I have friends that do a turducken every year for Thanksgiving. I've never helped them do it, but none of them are that amazing in the kitchen, so I have a feeling it may be easier than it looks. After being roasted. We didn't have any cooking twine so we used skewers to hold it closed.

So it's no surprise that I needed to go on a diet, post-holidays.
ETA: DNB, my only suggestion would be to make sure you have help to put the damn thing in and take it out of the oven. Our turducken was incredibly heavy after we stuffed each bird. I think we had a 17 lb. turkey, an 8 lb. duck, and a 5 lb. chicken? Something like that? But even without the bones, the stuffing added a lot of weight, and it was too heavy for just one of us to move it around.
The whole thing got eaten though. Mainly because we were at a party at her house, and her brother and all his friends ended up eating whatever was left over.

I love all the icing in that first turducken pic.
Frankly, the bacon and cheese one sounds scary.
It was a big hit, and you can also order a pig stuffed with a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken from them.

Are you planning on deep frying the turducken? Because I don't think that would work.
