Lurker introduction

Re: Lurker introduction

• Moneypenny - I would never name my kids something really strange.  After reading the chapter in Freakonomics where it talks about people with names like that being less likely to get called in for a job interview, I know I'll be really careful about what I name my kids (if I ever have any).

• After I asked that I realized my FI has attended four separate institutions of higher education, which is certainly above average, but your H has him beat by a long shot. At least he has a lot of teams to cheer for.
• LDY YOU HUSH YOUR MOUTH!
• I like that we have more Kentuckians in these parts
• Stacks: these are not for your viewing. You're my BKFF and I heart you and stuff - so don't look. DON'T DO IT.

• Anna, I feel inadequate with my two universities.  :P

But H actually played football at Vandy for a year before getting a nasty concussion and being told that his FB career was over.  So he switched to soccer, played a year at Vandy and then transferred to play Pac-10 soccer for his last two years.  That's how he squeezed in the extra university.
• I didn't go to FL - I didn't want to go to a huge school, even if I'm a big ole' Gator fan. I went to UNF in Jacksonville and then Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, MS. UNF doesn't even have football and is very much a commuter school. Southern Miss had football, but they sucked royally. Plus I look better in Orange and Blue.

I'm not ashamed by my schools, but I'm also up front about it. I hate when people are like "I LOVE FLORIDA!!" and they just started being a gator fan b/c of Tebow or championships. That bugs me. My first Halloween costume was a Gator Cheerleader. My mom played volleyball for FL and got her degree from there. I've been going to Gator games my whole life - I might have gone to other schools, but I'm a Gator fan, yo.
• LDY, you've been a gator longer than me for sure. I didn't start caring about football or UF until I actually got there.

And Mica, FI transferred during law school, so that accounts for one of his schools.
• I totally wanted a big school. The bigger the better. I was so tired of being around the same people all growing up that I needed some variety.

The funny thing is, by the time I graduated it didn't feel so big anymore because I knew so many people.
• I like you, LDY. I also went to UNF (sports? What's that?) yet remain a Gator fan. Go Gators! But I was born in Gainesville and half my family went there, so naturally I'm all about the blue and orange.
• I liked my big school too (the University of California).

H only was at UF for a year, but it was the first year we dated.  I visited Gainesville 6 times that year.  I feel intimately acquainted with their airport.  H was an FSU fan when he was a kid, but now we're UF people, and not just because they've been doing so well in FB lately.  :)
• Birdie - most of the kids I went to school with went to the bigger schools. I was actually one of the few who stayed in town. I rarely saw anyone I knew from HS. However, when I was visiting FSU or UF, I'd see TONS of people I knew. I kinda liked that about my little school in Jacksonville.

Sesh - GO OSPREYS!!! ha. Vicious bird, I tell you.
Hiya - Kate - question - if you are from Vegas why do you type Canadiaun? (extra U's in the word favorite :)). Thanks Welcome!

You're good!  I am from Canada, in my profile I wrote Canada but entered in a bunch of random numbers for the zip code which as it turns out (after googling the number) is a Las Vegas zip code.  Interesting... Does it not say I'm from Canada at all?

YAY! Purdue!

I used to love walking into Jake's and running into about 20 people that I knew.  It's not the same any more.  :(  Gosh I'm old.
And welcome MissKate and ADunn too! Question for all three of you:  would you name your kids Bethe'Nay or Devon'Tay?
Posted by Moneypenny424
I prefer Bethe'Nay out of the two but I wouldn't name my children any of those names... sorry!

True Story:

We're serving Graeter's ice cream at the wedding.  I called my MOH (my roommate from Purdue) with a "dilemma".  Matt and I both love peanut butter and chocolate and therefore love "Buckey Blitz", but I wasn't sure if I could bring myself to serve it at the wedding.  It seemed so disloyal.

Smart girl.
• Most people I went to high school with didn't go to college, so I didn't really have to worry about running into them on campus.

It's only been a year since I finished grad school, but I really miss being at UK.
