Evening thread

Re: Evening thread

  • I've gotten pretty good at identifying flowers because I researched them so much before the wedding. I wish we could have gotten parrot tulips, but they were not available. Shucks.

Angel, I really like when flowers don't match the wedding colors. I think all white flowers would be beautiful with color elsewhere. We did something like that...there ended up being more pink in our flowers than I wanted, because pink wasn't really one of our colors.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Evening thread : We are doing single submerged white roses (two per table) for our centerpieces and it was very cost effective!

We had submerged orchids. I love submerged CPs.

I had lillies, orchids, peonies, and ranunculus in my bouquet.  The BM bouquets were ranunculus and carnations.  The bouts and corsages were ranunculus and orchids.  The CPs were submerged orchids, and then we were supposed to have peonies and ranunculus in bud vases too, but ended up with roses and carnations and I almost cut a biiiitch.

And lillies, orchids, peonies, ranunculus, roses, and carnations  are pretty much the only flowers I can identify.  Ha.

  • I really wish I was a wedding planner -  I have so many ideas for flowers and decor that just didn't fit in our wedding but that I want to see in real life, haha.

<div>Pink wasn't one of my colors but we ended with lots of pink in our flowers. I liked it. I basically told my florist that wildflowers are my thing and that's what we got. I like that mine weren't too matchy matchy.</div>
  • I am almost worried ours is going to be too plain.  We are strictly black and white with damask theme.  There is not an ounce of color anywhere.

  • I like submerged centerpieces, too. My cousin had cymbidium orchids in hers and they were gooorgeous.

My bouquet was actually peonies, garden roses, and dahlias. Bouts were all white roses. Mothers' corsages were spray roses and mini calla lillies. Our centerpieces were stock, French tulips, hydrangeas, garden roses, roses, peonies and dahlias. I miss those flowers....I wish they lived longer :(

I don't think it'll be too plain.  Black and white is really classy.

<div>That's what our wedding was, but with pink accents.  So we had pink flowers, pink paper for our centerpiece, and I forget what else was pink.  Mostly everything was black and white though and I loved it and got lots of compliments on it.  I have lots of pics of it if I could remember my bio link.</div>

  • I like black and white. I don't think it's going to be too simple at all.
  • I guess I've just gotten a lot of "Oh, so you mean there is no color. At all?".

I've always pictured this though.  My veil has black outlining the outside and my shoes are black.

  • I think some people go overboard with "wedding colors". Black and white will be really elegant and pretty. At least I think so :)

[QUOTE]Hola, friends!  Angel, two things.  One, I would try wearing the dress a bit over the next couple of days because formal dresses always stretch out a bit on me.  Two, the party I went to at your venue this past January had purple uplighting and all white flowers, and was beautiful. <strong>My bouquet is white lisianthus, white Peruvian stock, and white freesia. </strong> The BMs have white carnations because they have the fluffy look going on. I am falling asleep.  What is wrong with me.

The only one of those I've heard of is freesia.  The only reason I've heard of freesia is Bath and Body Works.

Please to be showing me pictures of said bouquet (inspiration pictures?)

  • Evening! I dont know why but i fell asleep tonight around 7:30 pm - I was so tired, even though i went to bed at 10:30 last night and slept in till around 7:30 this morning.

We talked to our wedding planner (finally) & told her we didnt want to pay her more, and would prefer that we use her as a consultant and have her there for day of events instead for the same fee. She was upset at first but I think shes okay with it now. We were okay with paying her the remainder of the contract to avoid any drama since she is my MOH's mom.

  • Well, H and I are looking into adopting a retired racing greyhound after we get settled into our new house. For some reason after all of our puppy looking, this is what feels right. Now I just need to wait until November or December!

    Deja vu.

Those are pretty!   I don't care if you AW, as long as I get to see the pictures.  I don't care if the rest of these crazies get to or not ;)

Can I ask a probably stupid financial question?  My job does not offer a 401k, but instead offers a Roth IRA.  Well, from the research I've done, it looks like we can't do a Roth, because we make too much together.  So it sucks that I'm entitled to this benefit that I can't use... but in any case, what are good options for retirement funds for me then?  And I have money in a 403b from my last job, what do I do with it?   And how do I find a person to help me with these things IRL?

  • Hi everybody.
Brandi, those pictures are stunning, and you'll be fine with black and white. It'll look elegant and simple.
Leisel, you can help me think of decor ideas. I think we're about to settle on a venue and I have no idea what to do with it.

Google? Do you have an accountant? I might ask my accountant (if I had one...) for a recommendation. You could probably google "financial planning firm X location" or something. Or, ask your parents. I would ask my parents - hah!

  • J, companies like Fidelity Investments, Prudential, and Aetna offer services. You can also look on Suze Orman's page has lots of resources. suzeorman.com is the link.
