Baby names

Help me...DH and I are going to start looking at them soon.  I've never really thought about them before (like some people, *cough*gg*cough*), so tell me which ones you like!

Our last name is one of those one syllable, super common names that people will use as a fake ones on here.  If that makes a difference.

Inspire me!

(and don't say Copernicus, DH already has that on the list)

  • Sucrets, do we have the same last name?  Wink

I have no idea on baby names.  All of the ones H and I have come up with are jokes that would seriously ruin a child's life.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

YES! This post made me really excited! I'll put my thinking cap on and get back to you. Do you have any letters that you are drawn to, like E, M, L, K, etc? Are you wanting to stay away from names that begin with the same letter as your last name?

I now have a one-syllable, semi-common last name too so I feel your pain.

What kind of names do you like?  Traditional? Classic? Contemporary?  Biblical?  Give us some direction.
  • No, gg, I don't think I have any preferences (and I don't think DH does either).

    Brie - that's a good list!

  • capri - DH says that since we have a boring last name, he was an 'interesting' first name.  But the line between interesting and fucking weird is slim.

So, no to super traditional names.

AHHHHHHH I should be in Rochester right now.  The NYSSMA conference is this weekend and all my college friends are wreaking havoc on your poor city.  Drinking it dry and eating Dinosaur BBQ.  I'm so jealous.

I went to school in Potsdam.  Oh, and I dated someone from Pal-Mac for awhile back in college.

I'd love to share, but I just found out today that I'm only going to have enough to make it until the beginning of next week (and that's with me taking a lot less than prescribed), and my pain level hasn't decreased at all since I broke my ankle :(  I'm terrified I'm going to have to rely on Motrin and Aleve soon.

  • Sucrets - You should mention the 2 girls' name that you love, but were taken by family members of yours. Maybe that would give everyone a better idea of what you like?
    image
  • Boys:
    Cap (family name)
    Colby

    Girls:
    Rosalie
    Carrie Lynn
Lola Rose (not one of ours, DH's cousins just had a baby and named her that, I though it was cute and combined 2 grandmothers' names)
    Annelie
    Eden (Edie)
Tilly (also a family name, or a variant of it)

We have a very German last name, so I keep looking at German first names. Eden was Anne Frank's mom's name. Annelie is a version of Anne Frank's real first name. I recently took a field trip to our local Holocaust museum, I'm going to blame that for my inspiration.

  • Don't forget to try to rhyme whichever name you pick out to try to find out how their gooing to be made fun of. The only one we can figure out is Sexy Lexi when she gets older. Ainsly makes me think of anus...

Haha!  I hope for their sakes the snow holds off a bit, then.  We got some the other day but thankfully it all melted.

I went to SUNY Potsdam for a semester.  I wasn't a fan so I moved back here and changed my major.

And I used to swim against Pal-Schmack :)  Small world.

You'll have to come up and visit sometime.
