Sunday evening

Re: Sunday evening

• It's because I'm the troll hunter.  When I'm not around, the trolls come out again.

:P
• You need a troll hunter badge, Mica.

• You all have confirmed that speaking everyday is not really productive. It's mostly nothing talk that important stuff gets lost.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
• I talk to my mom every other day or so. If I have nothing to say, we'll go a couple more days.
• FI and i just watched Match Point and I just made my first batch of cookies with my new mixer: Oatmeal raisin!  FI doesnt like them at all. Probably because there's no sugar or chocolate lol.  They're not AWESOME, but they're still alright!

Hi everyone!  I feel like I haven't been here in 100 years, but I think it was only like five days.  I somehow managed to come down with both strep and bronchitis simultaneously, so this has been an awesome five days.

Mica, welcome back, Bay, nice work on the bannination front in FFF (I couldn't not read that ish when I saw it had gone up to like 830 posts), and Chels, if you could send me some of those delicious-looking cookies, that'd be nice.  :-)

Oh, and I talk to my mom nearly every day, and I agree, talking that frequently causes actual useful information to get lost in the shuffle.  I still do it though because my commute home is super-boring otherwise and my mom is hilarious, if forgetful when i tell her things.

• We should do another goodies exchange like we did last fall. That'd be fun!
• Evening all. The weather here is all sorts of crazy. We had a winter storm warning last week and today it's almost, dare I say it, hot. Well, warm. I have nearly all the windows open right now trying to get a breeze going in here. Our downstairs neighbors must have their heat on or something because it's hotter than hell in our house.
• Those are good looking cookies.

I'm drinking wine and having Greek yogurt.  I really want cheese and prosciutto, but I'm trying to display self-control.

The trip was good.  The people on the cruise ship were really old, but at least that meant everything was quiet.  And it was so windy that the ship skipped the Honduras port, which was disappointing.  Otherwise, it was great.  I read three books in a week, drank some good wine, and had beer on multiple sandy beaches.
• Have you moved yet, Chrissy?

I'm sad because suddenly my wedding band is too small. I was visiting J at school this weekend and woke up there this morning with my finger super swollen and I could only get my e-ring off. My band has always been a tad tight and I've been meaning to get it re-sized. We tried everything -- butter, dental floss, cold water... nothing would get it off. I was afraid that I'd have to cut it off, but finally after a few hours home, my finger reduced in swelling so I was able to wring it off. But damn, that hurt.
My mom and I text everyday.  But not talk on the phone.  I'm fairly certain that won't change even with me living 180 miles away. So, I don't normally partake in FFF anymore.  But sounds like a lot happened.  Can I get a CN or should I read it?
Posted by crfb87
Well the CN of it was that there was like 18 trolls in it. Okay, not actually 18, but like 2 or 3 I think.  One of which decided to insult a lot of people, specifically me, asking me (very rudely) why I still posted and said stuff like I probably tricked FI into being with me and crap like that.  It was dirty.  Another one (I think also in FFF? somewhere Fri) said something about everyone on E being plus sized too.
• See, if FFF gets to epic lengths, usually there is good drama within.  It's sort of fun reading it after it calms down (like this morning while I was waiting to get off the ship).  FFF that is only 200 posts usually means the flames ran out on the first page, and then it's just a bunch of regs talking about random stuff.

Has anyone seen HG?  How was it?
• I saw HG yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I felt they did a pretty good job at making it a movie that included almost all of the pertinent parts of the book. It wasn't perfect, but no movie from a book can be, really. My only major complaint was that i didn't feel like they played the emotional side of the book enough. I felt all emotional during certain parts, but more because of the book, and J, who hasn't read the book, didn't feel the same connections.

But it was a great movie! I can't wait for the 2nd one.

• I am sorry that you were the target of the troll, chels, but I know that you can handle it, right?  That troll definitely deserved to be banned.  Good job, Bay!
• I saw HG on Friday night.  I didn't even know what it was until like two weeks ago and we went on a whim when some friends invited it. I actually REALLY liked it and I cn't wait to read the books.
• MuSu, I find my fingers always get a little bigger as it gets warmer - my e-ring fit perfectly when I got it in August, but it was loose over the winter.  At one point I was thinking about getting it sized down, but it's fitting again now that it's not freezing, so I'm glad I didn't.

And Chels pretty much nailed the FFF CN.  I'll also add that SweetTea or whatever revealed herself to be KWilliams, that poster who was normal for like 3 1/2 seconds and had a cute sig pic but then flipped her sh!t and GBCKed.  That one was kind of a trip for me.

• Have you guys ever broiled steaks before? We don't have a grill and I want to cook steak our steak. I could do it in a pan or use the broiler. :/ I'm not really certain which is best.
• Oh, and I just saw HG today.  HG rocked my socks, but I'm pretty easy when it comes to movies.

• Oh yeah, I forgot.  Supposedly KWilliams has had a ton of AEs.  Woo hoo *finger twirl*  /sarcasm

And HG was amazing.  H and I went last night.  Loved it.

• MS -- there are days when I can't get my ring off, if it's hot and my fingers are swollen from eating salt or using my hands too much.  I just leave it on until things calm down.  But if it's bugging you, can you get the ring resized?

H is refusing to watch HG.  I can't decide if I should watch it by myself or wait to rent it as a DVD.
• Yeah, Steph, I figured it is because its getting warmer, so it just means I have to get off my butt and bring it in to resize it. It was tight even in Jan when I first started wearing it. My e-ring is ok though, so at least I will have one ring on. I am letting my finger rest for the night and it feels soooo weird with nothing.

• Erin, I broil steaks a lot in the oven.  Brown them on the stove, then broil them in the oven.  I do about 7 minutes on each side for a smallish steak.  Season them before you pop them in.  They are quick and easy.

I am waiting to see HG until next weekend. I'm excited, but not excited enough to go to super crowded theaters with a bunch of 13 year olds being annoying the whole time. Can you tell I don't love the theater?

ETA: Thanks, Bay!
• Erin, I feel the same way. I usually avoid midnight showings & crazy opening weekends. But J and I went during a Saturday 3pm showing and it was actually pretty nice. Still busy, but everyone was calm and quiet. If there is one thing I irrationally hate, it is when people clap at the end of movies. I was so glad no one did that.

Oh yes, I forgot bout that.  She came in all "ooh how do I prove I'm normal and not a troll?" and everyone said she needed to post a pic.  She posted a pic and someone figured out it was her. She said she hoped nobody would figure it out... which seems like the complete opposite of her mission of trying to prove she was a normal person..
• Yeah I see it too, Chrissy. Kinda weird.

Ugh they did that when our showing was done. I agree. Very annoying.
• I see that orange dot too.

I thought kwill was cute and normal too.  Shows you what I know.
• I'm seeing the orange thing too, FYI.  And Chrissy, agreed, the red coat pic was cute.  Unfortunately, a heaping helping of BSC appears to have been hiding behind the cute.
