Sunday evening

Re: Sunday evening

  • I don't know why I care that people clap. I just do. It makes me cranky.

  • I won't lie, I always have the impulse to clap, things that make me happy make me clap.  FI shot me a look of death the second it looked like I was going to clap today though, so he prevented me from being one of the annoying people.

Because the point of clapping is to commend people on the work they did in a performance/congratulate them.  99.999% of the time, the people you are clapping for aren't even there to receive the commendation.  It's like clapping at the end of a CD... rather pointless.
  • I almost LOLed at the thought of you, Chels, sitting next to a stereo at the end of a CD, and clapping. Haha what a bizarre thought.

I've been to midnight showings for HP when I was in HS, but stopped after that. The thrill was lost after I was no longer one of those annoying teenagers. The midnight book releases were always fun too.

<div>Hahaha, I did LOL at this and then had to explain to FI was I was laughing about. He didn't laugh.</div>
  • I see the little orange dot too. Going to see HG this week and then read the books. Once I heard there was going to be a movie I put off reading the books. I hate when movies mess up books so doing it in this order lets me enjoy both.

    Haha me too!

Alrighty ladies, I'm off. I have lotsa dishes to do and a lunch to make.  Have a great evening!
  • Hello everyone!

I don't really like the clapping at the end of movies either. It doesn't bother me as much when it is a great movie. Lately though it seems that people are clap happy.

I remember seeing the last LOTR right after it came out. Everyone clapped and cheered when they came one by one through the archway. I didn't mind that.

  • Welcome back, Mica!

I'm reading "Mockingjay" right now. "The Hunger Games" was so good I ran right out and bought the next two books. I don't know why I didn't get all three at the same time. I should have known. Anyway, I spent all day reading "Catching Fire". I can't wait to see the movie, but I'm going to wait until this weekend to allow time for the teen crowds to die down a bit. I'm such a curmudgeon.
  • Glad you liked it so much, wrigley! I gotta admit, even though after all the books, I'm still pretty much on "Team Neither"...but after the movie, and the choices for actors...damn Team Gale is definitely winning in the looks dept. ;)

  • Ohh what kind of dance, Bree? That is exciting. :)

  • That sounds like it would be fun Bree.

  • Thats awesome, Bree. I miss ballet so much. I watched Black Swan with J this weekend, his first time seeing it, and it made me so nostalgic for ballet. He never knew me when I danced a lot so he kept asking "Can you do that? And that? Wow this looks hard!" haha.

  • Bree if you can't get there with shoes, wearing ankle socks should be ok for the first day, if they are cool with that.

  • I hope you enjoy it, bree. :) I miss teaching it and dancing it.

[QUOTE]They seem pretty strict (well, via the website) on wearing flat ballet slippers. Lyrical sandals and sole protectors aren't even allowed.

    Ah, bummer.
