Morning!

Re: Morning!

  • Morning!  It is so freaking hard to get out of bed when you have an adorable little kitten purring her head off and sleeping on your face.  She's so cute.

  • Morning!

Bay, what kinds of classes are you taking this semester? I'm kind of jealous, I would love to be back in school. I especially love the first day of classes.
  • Sesh where's your H going?

  • Morning!  My first day of work yesterday was awesome, and I'm excited for today, even though it will be a long day.  I don't mind long days.  I found out I can do paperwork from home, so I should only have to drive 4 days a week once I get my schedule sorted out, which is awesome.  Hopefully I'll actually be able to get work done at home so I can take advantage of that!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday :)

  • Anna, I'm considering buying The New Rules of Lifting for Women.  Do you still use it?  Is it worth buying?

Habs, my cat jumped in my lap this morning and fell asleep.  It made me a couple minutes late.  Oh well!

  • Anna, the class I'm going to tonight is centered around European colonialism and expansion, which I'm looking forward to (and why I'm actually willing to go to class at the horrible time slot of 7:20 - 9:55 PM, ick).  My class tomorrow is at a more reasonable hour (4:30 PM) and is about the history of female sex, contraception, and sexual rights.

  • I miss having kittens and cats.  They are such sweet animals.

Habs, I bet your kitten is growing already!

Bay and Adamar, I wish I had gotten more education like both of you are.  Keep chugging along.  I toy with the idea of going back to school but at 46 it seems like somewhat of a waste, although my work will pay for it.  Oh my head, that is such a no brainer!

  • MK, he's going up to PA for a week or possibly longer to see family. He's driving so there isn't a set date, but he wants to go the end of the month or beginning of February. We're waiting for our tax return or to see how much it will cost to fix his truck before he goes. He has to drive because his family is giving him a few things, so he's bringing up his work trailer.
  • OK, Bay, now I'm super jealous. Those both sound really interesting. Do you have a focus?

Adamar, I would recommend NRL4W. I never finished it because I got off track with the honeymoon and then the gym where we moved had the crappiest weight room ever, but I love it while I did it. I felt lifting was much more productive then cardio and it also didn't make me want to kill myself. I pretty much ignored all the nutritional advice, but the workouts are really good.
  • J&K, I'm jealous of your work from home day!
  • I almost did US because it seemed more "practical" (which is a funny word to use for any history degree) but I love European more so I stuck with that. We had to know a language too, but the test was super easy. It was only reading and you could use a dictionary. I took the Italian test, but I easily could have passed in Spanish or German. Hell, I probably could have passed the French one and I've never studied French. That's how easy it was.

But I feel you on the class schedules, I had much fewer classes available to me as a Europeanist.
  • Ozzie sleeps in between us and it's always hard to get up when he's all snuggled up beside me. He's so warm and soft and furry. I always just want to stay in bed and snuggle with him.
  • Would I need to go to a full scale gym for it?  I've got some hand weights, and H has some sort of bar with a few different sizes of weights for it.

  • Adamar, not necessarily. Most of the stuff can be done at home, especially if you have a bar for deadlifts and squats. And the book gives home gym alternatives to stuff. The only reason I don't do it at home is that I simply don't have room to keep weights.
  • Cool.  I think I'll give it a try.  Thanks!

  • Where did everyone go? I have a 3 hour class to sit through, don't disappear on me now!

It was 2 degrees when I got in the car this morning. I'm thinkin' a plane back to Hawaii doesn't sound too bad.

  • Hrm, I wonder if our test is the same.  I could probably pass Spanish with a dictionary.

There was a class on Soviet history that I REALLY wanted to take this semester.  But of course it takes place at 12 noon...and I work until 3 PM every day.  Fail.

  • I'm stuck on the primal website.  It's interesting.  I'm trying to decide how much I can slip past H before he realizes what he's eating.

  • I don't know how you can do that, Bay. Go to work and then go to class. i mean, I worked part time in undergrad but I never had class AFTER work, because I probably couldn't sit through class after.

  • It sucks, Musu.  I'm SO ready to quit and just go to school full time.

Bay, how many days are you in school?

  • Bay, we had a class about Soviet history and the spy novel that I really wanted to take, but the other girl who worked in the library with me signed up for it first and we couldn't both not work on Fridays, so I feel you pain.

Adamar, what website? You shouldn't have to slip too much primal food past your H, it's steak and butter and delicious things like that.
  • Yeah I know a lot of my colleagues that work 10-20 hrs per week now and I don't know if I could do it. I have my volunteer stuff that I do, but it is pretty flexible so I can do it when I get the time during the week.

I'm also remembering why I hated morning classes. I wish I could find a job where sleeping til 10 is ok. haha.

  • Marks daily apple.  He eats a ton of pasta and rice (those sides in a packet - gross) and I would really like to get him away from that processed crap.  Plus I'm ready to try something new for weight loss.  What I'm doing doesn't seem to be doing much.  I was just looking at a breakfast casserole that uses turnips.  I don't think I'd be able to tell him what was in it until he was eating it (and hopefully liking it).

  • I loved morning classes. The earlier the better. Even though I'm a night owl, I hate night classes but that's when most of my graduate classes were. Well, afternoon and night.
  • I had all morning classes last year and I thought I liked it. But then last semester I had classes between 11-4 and I loved that time frame because I still got done before it was too dark outside and I got to sleep in. Now my classes start either at 9 or 9:30. Which isn't THAT early, but it makes the wakeup time between 6:30-7 since I live far away and I run into rush hour.

<div>I love MDA. And I've found some decent subs for rice and pasta, but of course it depends on what kind of pasta or rice you want. For me anyway it helps me get over missing carbs when I think about the delicious stuff I don't feel guilty about eating anymore. I really try to focus on what I can eat rather than what I'm restricting. </div><div>
</div><div>But my H still isn't completely on board. He eats what I cook, but he's still skeptical and he still eats grains when he buys his own lunch at work and stuff like that. </div>
  • After our HM, J is now totally into eating seafood all the time. Of course, we don't quite have the same selection as Hawaii does, hah.

  • MUSU, that's what I'm nervous about.  I took a LOA from classes because I was so overwhelmed working and going to school full time, plus for medical reasons, back in 2008.  Now I'm only taking PT classes, so it's not so bad.

I'm taking class Wednesday nights and Thursday afternoons, so just two days a week.  But Wednesdays are going to SUCK.  I work from 7:45 - 3 PM, then a meeting from 3 - 4, and then class from 7:30 - 9:55.  I won't get home tonight until 10:30 (if class gets out on time), and H has to work at 5 AM tomorrow, so I won't see him awake again until probably tomorrow at around 8 PM.  And that's his normal Thursday schedule, so we'll be doing this for the next four months.

  • I wish I ate more seafood. But I really don't want to eat farmed fish and wild caught stuff is SO expensive. I just can't bring myself to pay that much.
  • I don't really like seafood but I know it is really good for you. OH well.
