Wedding Etiquette Forum

Oh, hi.

I know you people are here. Let's talk about something that doesn't hurt my head.

Like...WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY!?

And give me a lighthearted book to read.

How was the weekend? I'll take anything, just let it make sense, please.

  • I'm here relaxing. Not too much on the agenda for today except maybe some dishes and laundry.

Its been an god weekend. My friend L came over on Friday and kept me company for a couple hours. My dad also came by and put a shelf in the cabinet on our new dresser for the baby. Yesterday my FIL came by and dropped off a gift from his mom for us to use for the baby.

I don't know of any good books. I really should start reading more but I'm not sure how much time I'm going to want to spend doing tha after Edmund is here.

  • Hi!

-Went to brunch, had a monte cristo. I'm getting ready to put the last coat of paint on my awesome kitchen black board and spray paint some frames.

-Asking for Trouble - Elizabeth Young or anything by Sophie Kinsella or Emily Griffin.

-Great weekend! Lounged by the pool yesterday (93 degrees!) with a book and worked on some art projects...

  • Hello!
Right now I am sitting around working on homework and watching 16 and pregnant.

This weekend I didn't do much because I broke out in hives the other day so I am pretty miserable. My wedding invitations will be going out tomorrow though!

  • OOOOO I wanna see pictures of the kitchen blackboard! I've been thinking about putting something like that in my office, but I don't know of anyone who has done it IRL to give me a run down of how it turned out.

Ciara, aren't you like...ready to pop any minute now?

  • Fish once I get it hung I'll take finished photos. Pretty much it was a $7 mirror in a pretty frame I got at goodwill. I painted the mirror with chalkboard paint and am now painting the frame with a pretty blue paint. Super easy. I'm excited about it. Here it is before I started: (the dog insists on being in any photo I take and this was before I cleaned it)
  • Spows. I like it! A very different take on the typical username nicknames. Nice to meet you, too, Fishy :)

I haven't ever gotten them before. My parents thinks it is just stress. My mom used to break out in hives when she was stressed out.It is either that or a link to my RA... not sure.
Whatever it is really sucks though.

  • Spowsie, Bones is like...the best show on TV. It's crime solving police, forensic stuff with some love stories worked in. WHATS NOT TO LIKE?!

  • Hi Fishy!
I'm just wasting time before brunch with my parents.  I'm feeling lazy today.
I love any book by Bill Bryson.
  • I'm feel like I'm ready to pop any minute. I still have 2 days until my due date though. I'm hoping to have something happen today or tomorrow but we will see. I need to get some spicy food to try.

There are a whole bunch of girls on the April 2011 board that are trying castor oil and not getting anywhere other than the laxative side effects. I don't feel like going there.

  • Hi! I'm bored. Work sucks.

Book, book, book. Definitely "The Art of War".

I'm just kidding! What kind of books do you like, Fish? I definitely recommend Emily Giffin for everything. Have you read the Shopaholic series? Those are really easy, fast reads.

    *waves* Hi Fish!

I spent most of yesterday taking painkillers and resting.  My sister and some of our friends came over last night for dinner and to hang out, because we were supposed to go to NY today.  They went without me.  It's going to be a hell of a week at work, and I'd rather not be feeling bad when I go in tomorrow.  So I'm resting up some more.  I'm going out in a bit to pick up some stuff from CVS, and H and I are going to have a low-key night in.

ETA: I haven't read any really lighthearted books lately.  I just finished A Million Little Pieces today -- which is pretty much the OPPOSITE of lighthearted.

Bones is the best show ever. I wish they'd just get together, damnit.
  • Hi everyone!

Fishy, I need another good book to read.

This weekend has been a relaxing, catch up on things to be done weekend. H and I both caught a cold or something which sucks.

Last night we went to dinner, got some yummy frozen yogurt and came back and watched the new HP on dvd. Then I fell asleep.
  • Bay - I hope your body feels better soon. That can't be any fun. But yay for a night in with your H.
  • I should run to the store at some point to get some food for dinner but that won't be for a couple hours just because I just finished lunch. Plus I should probably go with DH and he is sleeping since he got off work at 8 this morning.

  • Ciara - are you allowed to drive that close to your due date? I have no clue, so I am just asking.
  • Hi!
I had a fun weekend. Yesterday I spent the day with my nieces & nephews at my sisters annual Easter Egg hunt.

Today I hit the JC Penny friends & family sale and saved about $200. I love sales!

Right now I'm playing on the laptop watching the Phillies game.

I haven't had much time for reading lately, but yesterday my Aunt who works at Simon & Shuster gave me How I planned your wedding by Susan Wiggs. Hopefully I can find some time this week to start reading it. I have a bunch of appointments set up the next 2 weeks. Meeting with florist, photograhers, videographers. Tomorrow I'm going to another bridal show. I'm spending the rest of the day relaxing!

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.

    Jamie
  • Really as long as the seat belt hits you where its supposed to and you fit behilnd the steering wheel you can drive. Just have to be careful if I were to have a contraction behind the wheel.

  • Hi! My weekend has been relaxing which was much needed.  Yesterday we bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on DVD.  We watched Half Blood Prince again first, then Deathly Hallows.  I can.not.wait for the 2nd part to come out.

Do you remember those choose your own adventure books for kids?  Pretty Little Mistakes by Heather McElhatton is one for adults. It is sometimes lighthearted and sometimes quite the opposite depending on what path you pick, but it's awesome if you're looking for something fun and different to read.

  • What I've read recently:

    A Million Little Pieces
I'm in the middle of The Hour I First Believed
    Snowflower and the Secret Fan
    Shopgirl
Two Kisses for Maddy -- WHICH EVERYONE SHOULD READ.

And the two I finished yesterday night and this morning are "If I Stay" and the sequel "Where She Went." I LOVED THEM.

I'm in the middle of reading Sisters in Sanity today, and I just downloaded the Bang Bang Club, but man, all the books I've read are emotionally exhausting lately.

  • I really want to go shopping. Its just not a good point to go shopping for new clothes when I have no idea what size I'm going to be after he's born. I'm hoping to lose all the baby weight (24 pounds now) plus another 15 on top of that so all together 39 pounds.

  • i can't wait until HP Part 2 comes out in July!
  • Hey!  How is it late Sunday afternoon already??  Not cool.

Tomorrow is Marathon Monday, but I'm still going to work.  I was disappointed to see no roads on my route to work are blocked off!  The weekend has been nice and low key, other than my flat tire yesterday morning on the way to volunteer at this teen empowerment thing.  Oh well.  Went to a party last night and today have hung out on the couch :).

I also love Bill Bryson, so I'll recommend The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid.  I also love everything David Sedaris writes, so that would be my first choice for you.  Dress your Family in Corduroy and Denim is probably the funniest thing I've ever read!
  • Ciara,

Go get Chinese food. I know so many people who went into labor the day after having Chinese for dinner.

Not sure if it's just a coincidence but it's worth a try!

  • Ooh, I'll second the David Sedaris recommendation.  I think "Me Talk Pretty One Day" is a great intro to his stuff, but I've read almost all of his books.
  • A spicy cup of noodles is what is really calling my name. I used to eat them all the time when I was a kid and stopped for some reason. Either that or a macho burrito from the mexican place down the street. It's made out of a tortilla that is bigger than a dinner plate and I can eat the whole thing myself.
