Hi, laides!  We just got back from the lake house not too long ago.  And of course I'm sun burnt.  Ugh!

[QUOTE]Mica, have you read "Don't Get Too Comfortable" by David Rakoff?  Hilarious!  I think you'll like it.  One of my favorite parts is when he goes to see "Puppetry of the Penis" and is really turned off by the huge white sneakers the guy is wearing :).

<div>I haven't read it, but I'm going to get it now!  Thanks for the recommendation, MP!</div>

  • Hi everyone! I had a pretty shiitty weekend, unfortunately. So I told everyone about my car accident where someone ran a red light and hit me in December right? Right. Well, it took forever to find out that person's insurance info so my car was delayed on getting fixed for a while, and I got it fixed the beginning of March. So then 2 days after I got it fixed, an idiot cut me off and sent me spinning on ice into a median, damaging the back end of my car. So that took FOREVER to get fixed because it was a huge huge job, right? I got it back on Wednesday.

So, Saturday, J and I were driving onto the highway from my parents house and this IDIOT was racing her BF in another car and instead of almost rear-ending me, she swerved onto an on-ramp and then swerved back onto the road, speeding up and trying to pass me but ended up running into the front passenger side of my car. I was just in shock. I have the WORST luck in the world. 3 car accidents in 4 months, pretty much an insane statistical improbability. Plus all 3 were caused by complete idiots being reckless and none were my fault. I just really hate the world right now. I was just glad J was there so that I didn't completely go off on the girl.

  • Oh, Music, that sucks!  I'm glad you're both okay though.  That's terrible.  I hate idiot drivers.

  • Oh that sucks.
Maybe it isn't you with the bad luck. It might be the car.
  • Oh, MS.  :(  I'm glad that you're okay, but that car's got same bad luck.

Yeah, I mean I'm thankful we are not hurt and that my car is drivable, and the damage isn't too terrible. But I really just can't even believe it happened. Who gets into this many accidents without BEING the terrible driver themself? I was also glad the state trooper totally saw through the girl's "I have no idea how it happened, my car just went out of control!" story. She flat out admitted that she and her BF were "messing around and racing". You better believe her insurance is paying every last penny for this.

  • I totally think so too! I named it "Ernie", so I petted the steering wheel afterward and said, "Ernie, do you have a hex on you or something?"

Between 2005 and 2008, I was involved in six car accidents.  None of them were my fault.  I sustained minor injuries in two of them and serious injuries in a third.  So I hear you, I do!  Sometimes we just get really, really bad luck.

  • Hey guys!!

I had my surprise bridal shower today, thrown by my MOH/my side of the family (All my aunts, and my MOH is my cousin). I started crying as soon as I was in the door. I was making it very hard on my poor FI and MOH, who were trying to get me out of the house to go to my aunt's for the shower, but I was up all night with a fever and I still felt like crap in the afternoon, so it took a lot of convincing to get me up, haha.

But despite being sick, it was such an awesome day!! I was SO SPOILED gift-wise... I feel guilty accepting so many gifts! it's ridiculous!!

Oh wow, that is crazy! Six? I hope the 3rd is my last, forever. Yeah, it sucks because it makes it seem like I'm a terrible driver, but I'm not! J has been with me each time and knows that I wasn't doing anything wrong. I'm gonna go back to the body shop and they are just going to look at me like, "seriously?" haha.

I just hope the girls parents don't try to contest it much, considering the state trooper said that the entire police report will have all the responsibility and reckless driving against her. She was only 18 or 19, and the car was registered to her mom. I'm sure they are so thrilled with her.

  • Aw, Mixtape, I'm glad you had a great shower! :) I know what you mean about feeling guilty with gifts, I do that too. What kinda stuff did you get that you really liked?
    image
  • Yay, Mixtape!  I'm glad you had a fun shower!  But I'm sorry you're sick :(  Feel better!

I doubt she'll win even if they do contest it, Music.  It sounds pretty open-and-shut, really.  And hopefully this will be your last one.  I haven't been in an accident or even a fender bender since 2008.

  • I had a mini-Bachelorette this weekend (just dinner and drinks with a local BM and some friends).  I also worked a lot, so it was nice to have that break.  It's really touching to have your very busy friends set aside time for you.

Also, it's supposed to snow here 2-4 inches in the next 36 hours.  And stick.  This is BS.
  • Rosie - love the new sig, it's adorable and you look like you had a great time.

Mixtape - Yay for a surprise shower.  I'm so glad you had a great time, despite being sick.  I hope you're feeling better.

Musical.  You poor thing.  Hugs to you.  I'm really glad you're alright.  3rd times a charm right?  Now these mofo's will leave you alone I hope!

Yeah I am hoping that they don't try to make it complicated by contesting it.The state trooper also said there was a complaint on file about that car too. But they don't know if it was her driving it from that complaint though. I'm gonna try to demand they pay for a rental car for me too. *stomps foot*

  • You should definitely demand a rental car.  DEFINITELY!!!!
  • Hi Stacks! I saw your reply about Jocelyn the other day that she was 3 & a half. I totally thought she was older, she looks like she could be in kindergarten! Do people think that she is older than she is a lot?

Haha I really want to! Otherwise when it goes into the shop, I will have to rely on rides. Which is super annoying. My insurance doesn't cover rental costs for me, so I hope I can get it out of the other company.

  • So today I woke up at 8, sat in my little reading nook and read til 10. Then I moved to the upstairs couch and read til 11. Then I moved to the downstairs couch and read until 12. Then I napped from 12 to 1. Then I woke up and read until about 2:30. Then I took a shower. Then I went and got a pedicure. Then I came home and baked fresh rolls and ate one. Now I'm talkin to you and watching a baseball game.
It's been kind of an awesome day.
  • Some really cool things I got were a patio set from my mom, a raclette set, a slow cooker... Omg there was so SO much more, I just can't remember it! One really beautiful thing my aunts did was have this plate made with my initial on the front, with today's date, and on the back, every female member of my mom's side of the family signed it! It's so sweet!! :)

  • YES.  People are always so surprised that she's only 3.5.  Last time we went to the doctor she was way off the chart for height and like 95% in weight.  I'm 5'9" and Trevor is 6'3" so I think she'll always deal with people thinking she's older than she is.  She talks and acts much older too, but I think that's because she was the first grandkid on the IL's side and she's around adults so much.
  • Manda - that's a totally awesome day.
  • Sounds like your day was pretty good too Stacks!
  • Yes.  My day and my whole weekend were awesome.  I'm actually ok with Monday coming for once.  :)
  • Hell no. Monday is never the answer! (Unless it's a 3 day weekend.)

  • I know, I know.  I'm going to totally curse myself when my alarm goes off at 5:15 tomorrow.
