Good morning!  Today my summer of no work comes to an end (I work per diem while I'm in grad school and haven't had work since the end of May).  While it's going to be really nice to have some income, it's going to be tough to get back into the swing of things.  At least my job keeps me outside though, so that's a plus!
  • I wanted to do some gardening later today, but the heat index will be 105F.  I guess gardening will wait and my neighbors will have to deal with looking at my weedy front yard.
  • Good morning!  Mica - how did the kitty thing go over the weekend?  Do you have a new furbaby?

I am officially declaring a redo after last week.  My pool broke in the midst of setting it up (a 3 or 4 cent part broke, literally), I got sick and had to cancel my 4th of July party, the heat index kept us inside and not getting things done outside so we can reschedule our party, we had to cancel granddaughter's beach bday party because of the heat, and then the party all together because DD lost her power.

Sooo, first off we are going to get our new ID cards today, then we will check everything on the pool one more time this morning before calling the water guy to come fill it.  Then, watch out cuz it is MY week damnit and I'm not putting up with any crap of anyone after last week!
  • Morning.

H and I are opening up a leftover bottle of champagne from our wedding tonight to celebrate one month of being married. :)

Bay, haven't you said that's when all the interesting people come in with requests?
  • That's a rough week, KMM.

The kittens aren't coming home until Wednesday.  There were so many adoptions recently, they have a long waiting list to spay/neuter, and the kittens are scheduled for Tuesday.

So Berkeley had an idyllic weekend of being the only pet.  She was super cuddly and attentive this whole time, almost as if she is anticipating change in the air.
  • Goodness KMM, hope you week is way better.
  • Wow, midge.  One month already?  Goodness time flies.
  • KM -- oof.  You are overdue for some good news, girl.

Midge -- I am predicting that someone calls about a funeral today.  Which means I'll spend the better half of the day trying to find somone to come and cover it.  You're right, this is when we get the whack jobs.

  • Happy first month/one month Midge!

Morning everyone! Today is a shortish day for me - finish at 4. FI finally got a new bike (his old one didnt fit him & he tried to change the pedal; one came off & the other didnt) so we can finally go bike riding!

  • Morning!

cfas - I feel your pain.  I hadn't weighed myself since before our wedding in May and uh, I have also been very, VERY bad. :(

kmm- I hope that this week is much better for you than last week!  You deserve to have a great week after all of that.

I am not looking forward to going into work today.  I went in yesterday to get some overtime and only intended on being there 3 hours max.  Instead, I was there nearly 6 hours.  But at least we can maybe afford a little mini-vacation in August with all my overtime!

  • Thanks everyone. Doesn't feel like a month to us either.

Bay, I hope you don't have to deal with too many whack jobs while your boss is gone.

Angel, way to look at the bright side.
  • I have been really bad for the last couple of months - I keep telling myself I will start eating more healthy and working out more TODAY and, well I havent.

I finally start a few days ago & am going to take it more seriously now. I have put on some pounds and have been eating very unhealthy, I wouldnt mind shedding some pounds before our engagement shoot end of August/September & be wheer I want to be by the wedding (which I have plenty of time for)

  • Cfas - is insanity something some who has never been super athletic & fit can do or is it more for people who are deeper in the working out/more fit? I've always wanted to try it but I am worried it may be too 'intense' for me & I might just give up. I used Jilliam Michael 30 day shred before & I lost about 20 lbs in 2 months (but I have since gained it back).

I need to start tracking my calories too.  I just can't seem to get into the habit of it for some reason, and I know I'm overeating by a lot.  I lost 15 lbs in the two months prior to the wedding, and now less than two months later, it's alllll back on.  I have MFP and SparkPeople on my phone, and I have a gym membership.  I'm just lazy, apparently.

Haha, midge, I have to look at the bright side or I might lose it completely!  We didn't take a HM so this little getaway will be nice.

ETA:  I wish I could do Insanity or P90X at home!  We live on the second floor of a 32-year-old apartment complex.  It's a stay-at-home mom below us, and lets just say that with our squeaky floors, I'm sure it would sound like elephant jumping around upstairs, lol.

  • Morning.  Saturday night was officially my last night in my own house.  Some of the neighbors came over when we were loading some furniture up and said they wished we weren't moving.  It's a good thing H came outside when he did because I started straight up ugly crying.

  • Thanks for the info Cfas! When I was on the 30 Day Shred, I wasnt able to get to any of the levels or workouts without stopping a few times & they were still rather effective, I'm sure that Insanity is more of a workout than the Shred. Maybe I will try the Shred again for a week or so then move onto Insanity. I'm jealous of your ripped friend lol.

Adamar - I'm sorry! Where are you guys moving?

  • Angel - haha this is one of the times I'm glad we live in a basement. I can jump around all I want and it bothers no one.

  • Speaking of all this health and fitness stuff, has anyone tried chia seeds?  I found a tasty looking oatmeal recipe on SkinnyTaste that calls for them, but I've not had them.  I can't get past the uneducated image of growing a chia pet in my stomach if I eat them.

  • Good morning all! It stormed most of the night and I never could get to sleep. :(

I wish they made sleep aids that worked for 3 or 4 hours, I haven't found anything that doesn't put me out for 8 hours.

  • Morning everyone.

I just got back from the gym. I'm currently at the weight that usually plateaus me for awhile and then I give up and gain weight. My goal is to keep working through it.

I am not good at exercising at home at all. I think Insanity and 30 Day Shred would be good for me to do, but I suck at being motivated at home. I started using MFP 2 months ago I think and lost the first 5 pounds easily. Shows how much extra I had been eating.

  • Eagles - What are you doing to tone your arms? I worry about that too. My dress can hide a lot of things but my arms are not one of them.

Petal - I definitely recommend the 30 day Shred, it isnt a long workout either - I believe it is only 20 minutes long so it's easy to force yourself through it & get yourself to do it everyday because its so short. You definitely start seeing results, I did it for 2 months and I lost 20 pounds but I also was able to tone my stomach, hips & arms (because they make you use weights during most of the workout). I did the 30 Day Shred 5 times a week and just ate healthy and it was a success.

  • Um, I actually own the 30 Day Shred. I attempted Level 1 once. Embarassed

I don't know if I get distracted or what but I swear I have the hardest time doing things at home. Now if we had fitness class at work and put in the DVD, I would be right there doing it.

I need to try it though. Maybe I can get FI to do it with me.

  • Is Insanity good for just gaining muscle and not losing weight? One of my friends is letting us borrow his copy and I'd like to do it with H to help motivate him but I don't need to lose any weight.
  • Petal - Haha I completely understand, its really easy to get distracted at home when you have laptops, computers, tvs & cellphones and you can just pause it and do whatever you want. When you are doing it with everyone else you dont have the chance to pause it. I used to get so distracted when I first started too. Try get your FI to do it as well, it might work!

  • Midge, I would think any kind of exercise can't really hurt.  Just because you're skinny doesn't mean you're healthy or in shape (general you, not you specifically).

Petal, I have a hard time staying motivated at home, too.  I convinced H to keep paying for yoga classes, and now that we're at my mom's with the horses in the backyard I have no excuse not to ride and get back in shape.

I'm more out of shape now that the horses are in the yard than I've ever been.

    It's pathetic.

  • Good Morning!

I'm sad this weekend is over.  Friday night we went out and had sushi with another couple friend and then went and saw Rock of Ages.  It was what I expected:  fun, but bad.

Then Saturday we had lunch with FMIL and then we went shopping and I went to yet another movie with her.  We went and saw "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."  I really recommend it, it was great.

I'm hoping that since the heat streak has finally broken (knock on wood), that I'll get to working out again.  I've been doing good with tracking my food, but I really need to get motivated to work out.

  • I...am not going to list how much I weigh.  Suffice to say that it's not my heaviest, but it's certainly not where I want to be, either.  I started C25K, got sick, and fell off the wagon.  My grandparents are up from FL this week, and visiting them cuts into my only free time slot of the day between work and school, but after they leave I'm going to get back into it.
