In Response to Re: FFF : LDY, this goes along with the whole "trying to be a mean girl" schtick in my mind. Why would you use new posters just to create drama for entertainment? Reel it back a notch - like someone (can't remember who, cold medicine, sorry) said, people like you. You can relax. And I just saw your follow up to this, but it still sounds just as bad. I know what you mean, but pushing people's buttons just because they're new is called hazing. Just let them settle in normally and see if they can hang in the drama that comes up organically, don't create it arbitrarily.

H and I went to a buffet a few weeks ago with some of his gaming buddies (they were at a gaming convention and these are guys he'd never met before except over XBox).  We went to Fire and Ice, which is a buffet.  I always take tiny portions when I go so that I can enjoy small amounts of different plates.  I was waiting for H to finish when one guy was like "You're getting up again?"   H said, "yeah, it's a buffet."

The guy looked at me and said, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

I should have diick-punched him.  But I didn't.  I regret it, because I'm never going to see this guy again.

What an ass. That's the whole point of a buffet!

I'm always afraid of being judged when I go to a buffet. I shouldn't care, but I do a little.

I agree with this...but.....x-box guy may have a point.  There is a good reason why buffets AND obesity are both very prevalent in American culture.

Who knows.  He was really socially inept though, and not just because of that one comment.  Throughout the entire meal, he couldn't maintain a conversation that didn't involve a) himself, b) his workout regimen, or c) his stats for Halo Reach.

Idk -Just as a hypothetical.... I think that watching somebody really really obese eating at a buffet makes me want to say something/do something about as much as when I see somebody smoking in front of their kids.  I don't...because it's rude...but I think about it.

Obviously this wasn't the case here so he should have shut his pie hole.

I could see if Bay had been going back for her fourth trip or something, but what's the point of a buffet if you don't go back at least once? In that case, just go to a regular restaurant.

Now I want Happy China Buffet.
In Response to Re: FFF : AHAHAHA.  YES. No, it was Saoirse (SEER-sha), which is Gaelic for "freedom".  H is Irish and he's partial to Irish names. I wasn't upset with Bubbalub.  I admit that I was a little taken aback when she first questioned it, but when I found out her reasons I understood.  When you are really passionate about something, it's hard not to mention it.  And I do appreciate her bringing it to my attention.  I don't know if we'll change our idea (we are, after all, talking about a name for a child who hasn't been conceived yet), but it's still good to have all the info.
    Posted by baystateapple
I usually like Bubba's naming advice (she and I comment on the baby names board, too), but it went a little far. After all, plenty of people (in Ireland, even) still name their kids Saoirse who aren't in the IRA. I also doubt little Saoirse will ever move to Northern Ireland. Just like plenty of people in Russia name their kids Josef, even though Stalin was not the greatest person. It's not like you're using the name BECAUSE you're a huge Sinn Fein supporter or something.
