[QUOTE]Musical, That's what I thought. Plus I would think in order for a dog to be a good hunting dog he would need to have owners he trusted and loved.

Yeah, exactly. The dog needs to know who to listen to. I have NEVER seen the owners out there with the dog. Once I saw one of the younger children going into the house and the dog was trying to get up close to him and wagging his tail furiously wanting attention, but the kid just kept walking in without looking at the poor thing. It seriously breaks my heart.

  • If a family has a large space of land, I understand having outdoor dogs. Two of J's dogs were completely outdoor dogs that didn't get to go into the house until they were old. But they had a 10' by 20' fenced kennel with insulated dog houses with hay and blankets. So, they had plenty of shelter. And J and his family went out to play with them all of the time. And they hunted.

  • How often do you give your dogs/cats treats per day? I've noticed that when Tory goes to my parents, they all loooove to give her a treat for no reason at all. Which is fine, because its only when she is there. But I do remember that the dog I had while I lived there got way more treats than Tory does. Tory gets a treat after each meal, which is 2 times a day. She only does because she had a month where she was not eating after her surgery, and getting a treat after her meal made her eat her food. So now it is just a learned habit. Otherwise she doesn't get a treat unless she does something REALLY good when trying to train her or play with her.

</div><div>H's parents have a german shepherd and a great pyrenees. They're both outside dogs but FIL loves them so much he sometimes lets them into the house for some cuddles. It's pretty funny to see the great pyrenees laying at FIL's feet.

  • MuSu, he gets a treat when he comes inside from going potty. He struggles with wanting to come inside and will cry and whine at the gate and then run away as soon as we get close. In order to get him behaving, he needs a little treat each time he comes in. But Fox is a pill.
  • Oh my gosh Erin a great pyrenees! I forget about that breed and then when I remember I'm like omg cute and cuddly fluffy!!! haha.

Holly, haha well thank you to your FI! I'm flattered.

  • I'm surprised our dogs even know the word 'treat'. We hardly give them any, and even less so now. Our latest addition is still food aggressive so we keep treats out of the equation for now.
  • Haha what a stinker, Erin. It seems like my parents are more arbitrary treat givers, lol. I kind of like that Tory is limited in her treats. It makes it so I don't have to buy as many. :)

</div><div>He seriously is. Tory sounds more well behaved than Fox. Fox is trained, but boy...he has an attitude.

  • We have a border collie/bernese mix (Sasha), A husky mix (Noelle), a shepard mix (Kira) and a chihuahua mix (Loki). They are all rescues/strays. We have a hard time turning away needy dogs if we have the space to keep them.

<div>Aww, H had a husky when we first started dating. Her name was Nova. Pics of the pups Aryn?</div>
  • I can see if I have some. How do I add pics? Is it the same as the sig pic?

  • Haha I don't think its that weird Holly.

Erin, Tory isn't perfect by any means. She listens just fine but she listens to J MUCH better than she listens to me. Mostly my fault though because its hard for me to be as firm with her. SHE IS TOO CUTE FOR HER OWN GOOD.

Aw Aryn that is awesome. I would love to have that many dogs that I rescued! That is so great that you guys do that.

  • I want to be a crazy whippet lady. We'll see.
  • I just caught Tory watching tv because it was a commercial about dogs:

  • This is Kira

    This is Sasha

And it won't let me upload the pictures of Noelle or Loki for some reason.

</div><div>Oh love! Sasha looks so sweet.

    </div>
  • oh my gosh what little sweethearts!!!! They are so so cute.

  • I'll admit that Loki is fugly though and has a face only a mother could love. He has an underbite and only one floppy ear and super thin hair. It's pretty bad.
  • Thanks! Sasha is super sweet, which is good because it makes it easy to find people to watch her. She has SUPER bad separation anxiety and can never be left alone.
  • Omg too cute! I love when dogs try to make themselves fit onto chairs like that.
  • aw sweet little shadow. :) Have you warmed to him more over time, Holly?
    image
  • Aw cute, Holly!
  • Well I should really study for my history exam now. Night yall!
  • That's awesome Holly. :) I'm glad that you enjoy him more now. ;)

Time to go to bed I think, ladies. Good night!

  • Night Aryn!
  • So I'm back. Studying didn't take long. Wanted to add to what Holly said about long distance. My parents were 8 hours apart for the first eight or so months of their relationship and it seemed to work out for them. And that was before cell phones/skype etc.
  • I'm sure you are at the very least a perk to look at jobs in Bend. Never hurts to have an excuse to visit.
