[QUOTE]I don't get small ceremonies either.  I think I'd turn down that invitation, personally.

I really want to, purely out of spite, but I know that will cause more drama with MIL than anything else.

  • I've only been on one cruise and it was RC, but holy balls it was amazing.

  • MuSu that seems pretty awkward overall. I get that some people are really shy but the reception would put just as much focus on the bride and groom.

Thanks guys I am glad that is over. That was only like 5 trips to bridal stores O.o

I am glad today was over work was brutal. Everything is a crisis ALL THE TIME!

  • I should also add the trips to the paint stores were after I decided on the color, after countless trips collecting samples.
  • Yeah, I know BIL is only doing any type of wedding (he would prefer just going to the courthouse) because FSIL wants it. But I really do think they are doing the reception to get gifts.

  • Sparent, that dress is sweet.  I love the high sash on the back.
  • Random question: when y'all apply to jobs do you include your high school in the education section of an application? I mean I have a graduate degree, where I went to high school seems kind of irrelevant. I obviously finished or else I wouldn't have the subsequent education.
  • I like your dress Spa - and I agree about the crisis mode.  Work has been insanely busy lately.  I think in manufacturing the crisis mode never really ends.
  • Sparent, that dress is gorgeous. I love the back.
  • I don't put it on my resume, Anna. I just start with undergrad. Thats what our career services advised us to do.

Yeah, if I had a graduate degree, I'd probably just include undergrad and that.
  • Yeah, I don't have it on my cv either, but a lot of jobs I apply to have separate online applications to fill out. It's such a pain in the ass because they don't ask for any information that isn't already on my cv so I'm just giving them the same information in different formats.
  • Anna - I have only my college info on my resume.  Once you get to that point I don't see a point in including high school stuff.

I want to go on a cruise.  H is "meh" about it though, so who knows if we ever actually will.
  • Anna, I dropped it after I finished graduate school, although I will add it back in certain situations if I think it will help me land a position (I'm from a small-ish community, so if I think the interviewer will also be from the area, I'll add it back).

  • Jill, I kinda figured that and/or you were looking in my window and saw I just sat down in my chair to sign on.  No worries.
  • That is an interesting idea, Steph. About the local thing, I mean.

I really wanted to vote on Tuesday but the whole process is turning out to sound super complicated and I am getting frustrated.

  • I hate that all the online applications you have to fill out you upload your resume, and then fill all the same information into the blanks for them too.  Some of them will try to auto fill by parsing out your resume, but it rarely works well.  I've actually not applied for jobs cause I wasn't in the mood to fill out the online app.
  • Yeah, Loopy, it's infuriating. The really annoying thing is that I've applied to several jobs that all use the exact same format, but aren't synched at all (like all the colleges in Florida) so I have to fill out the EXACT SAME FORM a million times. And then upload my CV that says the exact same thing.

Thanks, guys. I'm glad I'm not crazy about the high school thing.

<div>I didn't realize so many places did that.  All the school districts have the same annoying way of doing things too, and it has kept me from applying for more jobs than I can count.  </div>

  • Anna, nope. High school really had nothing to do with where I am now, and I was kind of a slacker then. My GPA wouldn't impress many.
  • Haha HS was my best GPA. Good times...
    image
  • Jill, even when I include it, I don't include GPA or anything like that.  I just add a line saying the HS I graduated from, and it's more of a "hey, look, I went to Smalltown HS X just like you did, Mr. Interviewer, sir," than a "hey, I was smarty mcsmartpants in HS."  I think once you've completed undergrad, the HS GPA and whatnot aren't really informative anymore for employers.

  • Loopy, I hear you on the online part.  I feel like I filled out so many when I moved to NY to be with FI.  It was so hard to find a job 3 hours away I can't image trying to find one across the country.  Colorado is a great place, it will happen for you.
  • hello lovelies!
I am making a fatty dinner and opening some wine.  Time for a 4 day weekend!

  • Yea Loops and it almost always boils down to someone not wanting to do the work.

Thanks guys I love it :D

Anna as a side note I bought THESE stockings and thought you might like them. Also I like THESE ones too. But no I don't include my HS education on my resume

  • KJB, whatcha having? I had pizza for lunch, so I SHOULDN'T have much for supper, but there's goat cheese and wine in the fridge calling my name
  • Is anyone else a PR fan? Who the eff is this other lady and where is Heidi Klum?
    image
  • Hi KJB!  I am drinking wine with you so you're not alone.  Not that either of us every care about drinking alone.

It's a little shameful though that I haven't unpacked any of my wine glasses  yet so I'm just drinking out of a regular water glass.  Probably also pouring much bigger glasses than normal, but it's hard to tell.  Oh well, it's been a long couple days of unpacking and even longers weeks of moving.

  • Ha, Sparent, I don't think I've ever seen tights with words on them.
  • Ok so I'm watching The Office and Angela just had her baby, and I'm pretty sure they cast an eight-month-old as the newborn baby.
