Where is everyone? (Monday afternoon thread)

I know I don't post often over here but I lurk all the time. E seems dead today. The morning thread only had a couple pages in it.  I have today off work but need to do stuff around the apartment, like laundry.  I hate laundry, I wish it would do itself.

I've been doing C25K to train for a 5k in July and I'm supposed to start week 4 today.  It's kinda scary. Run 1/4 mile, walk 1/8th mile, run 1/2 mile, walk 1/4 mile and repeat. Once I'm out there I like running.  I shouldn't have looked at the plan for today. Knowing what's coming is making it intimidating.

Re: Where is everyone? (Monday afternoon thread)

  • I am sitting here at work, bored because the NP is out sick, so there is nothing to do today.  Oh, the Medical Director came in for a chart review today, which I knew nothing about, and the NP did not have enough patient charts completed for me to give to him.  This is not going to be a fun week at work.  Thankfully, I am off on Friday for the long weekend.
    Anniversary
  • I'm here for a bit, although I think I may take a nap. I'm exhausted for some reason. I just decided a few days ago I want to run a 5k, but I'm not sure when. I'm definitely not in running shape just yet... When I do go to the gym, I spend most of my time lifting weights instead of doing cardio. I've always heard about people running 5ks and I always thought, "I could never do that" so the other day I kind of thought, well why not? If they can do it, why can't I?

<div>I'm running the Color Run.  At every KM they throw colored cornstarch at you so by the time you finish you're all colored. It looks like a lot of fun. They don't time you so you don't have to run if you don't want to.  My goal though is to run it and not die at the end of it.  I signed up for it and started C25K the next day.</div>

<div>H was really into running one year because he ran the Chicago marathon and I decided to do a 5K with him.  I definitely was not in running shape, but honestly there are a lot of people who walk the entire thing.  Just go for it.  I was nervous before I did it that I would stand out because I'd have to walk part of it, but probably half the people were doing what I was doing.</div><div>
</div><div>I am so freaking exhausted today.  This weekend was probably the most eventful weekends I've ever had in my life.  We painted the walls in our bedrooms and bathrooms (ok, we hired someone to do the actual painting and he got there at 7am) but we had to move all the furniture around and clean and organize.  And we put a new mirror and light fixture in the guest bathroom.  </div><div>
</div><div>Then our friends called us to tell us they rented a lake house and a boat about 1.5 hours from the city and they had an extra room.  Of course we couldn't go right them because of the painter, but it motivated us to get everything back together in the place.  Got up there around 11pm on Saturday night.  Went boating and hung out in the beautiful weather all day Sunday.  And our "city" dog got to run around in a fenced in yard, go in the lake AND go on a boat.  She's going to sleep for 2 days.  </div><div>
</div><div>We got back this morning just in time for us to get ready and head to work.</div><div>
    </div><div>

  • I tried running, but my knees hate it. Plus, I end up with chafed knees because they hit when I run. :( It's not fun.
  • I'm here!  Trying to recover.  I love Wildfire, but I always feel like I have a massive hangover afterward.  It's worth it.

Midge, I totally registry-stalked too.  It was fun :)

Bay, what is Wildfire?  I've seen you mention it and I saw your ticker.  Obviously it's fun.

I'm counting down the time until I get to leave: 2 hours.  We're terribly busy today.  They are asking for OT, but hell no, it's not worth it.

We're going to trivia tonight.  I'm inviting my younger brother.  He just broke up with his FI this weekend (they were supposed to get married next month), so I'm trying to keep him from being alone.  He's upset about the relationship ending, of course, but they also have an 18-month old daughter, and I know he's going to miss seeing her everyday more than anything.  I'm trying to let him know that's it's more important that she has happy parents as opposed to ones that fight all the time, but he's just sad, which is to be expected.

CFM, it was a weekend-long camping trip and firespinning convention.  It was amazing.  I got to spin fire poi (link) last night for the first time.  Didn't do much, but it was such a great feeling and I really can't wait to do it again.

*edit* bc I looked at your SN really fast and thought you were someone else, I'm sorry!

  • I've enjoyed C25K every time that I've done it.  Now I just need to keep up my stamina from the half marathon (which is probably half of what it was from back in February).

Our first anniversary is today and I told the husband on Friday that he needs to send me flowers.  He said that it wouldn't be as special, since I told him.  Whatever, it's still special!

I've just never had flowers delivered to work before!  He doesn't like attention like I do, so he didn't understand!  I guess now I definitely have to put out tonight.
  • I have no desire to ever run anywhere, for any reason.

  • Holly, I have crappy knees and the C25K program was working really well for me until I decided to do a half marathon with not enough training time.  I think I tore something trying to increase my distance too quickly.  Definitely take it slow.

Bay, do you have pictures from Wildfire?

Guys, I ate too much. I had a salad for lunch, then I stupidly made another for dinner, so I was still hungry. Then I had a cookie and half a bag of chips. Oh, and some cheese. *shakes head*

Not of me, unfortunately.  That's the trouble of being the person who brings the camera.  I have tons of pictures of my friends spinning but none of me.

  • Rach, sounds like your SIL doesn't appreciate the awesoness of unplanned weekends in the summer. :/

Froggie, I'm sorry about your brother. You're being a great sister by inviting him out so he's not alone.

    MP, pretty flowers! Happy anniversary!

I can't get into the details here, but I'm so pissed at my BFF's boyfriend. I really hope he realizes what he's doing tonight when she lays it all out for him. Again. If not, I don't know if I'll be able to hold myself back any longer.

  • I am trying not to turn into a popsicle in my office.  It is so cold in here, my fingers are going numb.  And I need a snack.  I normally dont eat many sweets but I am in the mood for some oreos.

[QUOTE]I'm here, sort of. Just got out of a lunch meeting that left me frustrated. And SIL is wearing me out trying to set dates for summer trips. Today it was wanting to know which weekend surrounding the 4th of July we wanted to go to MIL's lakehouse. Um..that's almost a month and a half away. Let's try to get through Memorial Day weekend first, shall we? And now it's for June supper club. I'm fine to make plans but holy geez, it's like she's trying to plan something for every damn weekend and it's exhausting. So. Yea.

<div>H and I recently had a long discussion about the idea of having unplanned weekends.</div><div>
</div><div>This weekend was actually the perfect example of why it's nice to not plan out our lives!  I told him that this weekend was our "we can't plan anything in advance weekend" so that we could get the painting done, relax, or go out if we want to. Well then our friends invited us to that Lake House.  Normally we would have had plans and wouldn't be able to go.  But we were able to just hop in the car and go!  It felt great :)</div>
  • Yes, I'm vagueknotting because it's not my information to share. At this point, she doesn't even want him to know that I know what he's doing. MP, it has a lot to do with the fact that no one messes with my BFF and her son.

Afternoon. I'm an idiot. I forgot that today was the day we are interviewing for a new employee. I'm on the hiring committee, and I dressed way down. Awesome. I'm thinking I will run home and change. My boss, also on the hiring committee, looks exactly as dressed down as me though so I can't decide.
  • OH Midge, you and your vagueknotting.  I understand that you can't share it, but I'm such a gossip!  I need to know!

I hope it works out for the best for her.
  • Erin, if your boss is just as dressy as you are, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Most of my weekends are spent working. The joys of being in retail (/end sarcasm).  Unless I make plans and ask off I'm usually working at least part of the weekend.  FI's work week is Sat-Wed so he works weekends too.  My boss is cool and has been trying to make sure I have either thursday or friday off (usually friday) so FI and I can have one common day off.

CFM, the Color Run looks really fun... but unfortunately, the one in Philly is the morning after my friend's wedding that I'm in... I just don't see myself being ready to run a 5k that morning ;) I'm going to look into some other runs in the area though.. I think I'd prefer to do one when it's not too hot but also not cold because my lungs seize up when I run and it's too cold outside.

Ugh, my dog just ate (and threw up) 2 pounds of lunch meat. Luckily, I got him onto the deck at the first sign of gagging, so it's not in the house. My stomach isn't strong enough to deal with it right now, so I'm leaving it for my sister, since she's the dumbass who left the lunch meat out anyway.

Today is FI's first day of his bar prep class... I haven't heard from him. I wonder how it's going.
