I don't know about weddings, but at FI's grandmother's funeral there was a kid acting up and being noisy in the church. It ruined the funeral. RUINED.

    (Kidding!)

  • DH's cousin's kid touched our cake topper. Like actually touched it. Thank God her mother whisked her away before anything worse happened. Like if she'd tried to steal my thunder being all cute on the dance floor, THE HORROR.
  • Well, when my exH and I got married, our son was 2 1/2 years old. It was an impromptu, throw-together at the last minute wedding. The day of, he refused to nap, and then when we headed to the site, he fell asleep in the car. He slept through the entire ceremony, and woke up afterwards.

He did not ruin the ceremony at all.

I can't say about this wedding, it has not taken place yet. I will get back to you in a couple of months.

  • This one time? I had a friend. And in EVERY SINGLE PICTURE through the ceremony, these kids are in front of them doing weird stuff.

    That's kinda unfortch.

  • This one time, when I got married, I didn't notice a kid ruining everything til we got the video back and it showed our friend's four year old leaving her seat for a few seconds and standing in the aisle to stare at the back of my dress.

I prompty wrote our friend and demanded monetary compensation for our video, since her daughter totally wrecked it.

  • This one time, a baby was at my wedding. And she was cute. So she totally stole my thunder!
The worst part? SHE WORE A WHITE DRESS! How dare she!!!

yeah, not really. My FG's little sister did chatter a bit during the beginning of the ceremony (she was 2), but her dad got her quieted down before anything really got started. It wasn't a big deal.
  • Please. We didn't even allow the ankle-biters through the door.

Only one of my friends has kids, and she was THRILLED that we weren't having kids, because as she put it "Mommy and Daddy get to have a night off and leave the kids at Grandma's."

I read this as, "Thank god mother nature whisked her away..." That would have been a sight, I believe.

  • i have been to weddings where kids were a problem.... like ring bearers refusing to go down the isle... flower girls having a tantrum... fingers in the cake... and LOTS and LOTS of crying.... but none of these things ever ruined the wedding! In fact - in case...it turned out to be something that was sort of cute and eased the tension some....well...let us hope........
  • There was also a baby at my wedding. Everybody wanted to see it. I WAS THE BRIDE. It was even cuter because it was sleeping. Stupid baby.

  • OMG my 2 little cousins totally stood on the dance floor when we were cutting our cake, staring at us until we gave them some. How dare they! I mean look at this. It totally ruined our day. I want a do-over now.

And... my FG and RB (who are my little cousins and my Godson) ran out to dance with me and my dad during the father/daughter dance. Screw cuteness. They ruined my wedding. RUINED IT!!!!!

  • Not married yet, but there WILL be a baby at my wedding. A 10 month old, by that time. My little cousin. He's super ultra cute and I'm guessing will be even cuter by then. Maybe I'll get a super cute photo of me holding him at the wedding. If he cries, it is "cousins off" though. For good.

    ;)

  • OMG, my neice ruined, RUINED I say, our reception. She stripped down to nothing but a diaper and shoes.

Andplusalso, she was so stinkin' cute, she stole my thunder!!11!!1!!! Everybody was looking at her, and not at MMMMEEEEEEEEEEE.

  • Cfas--that is super cute.

At my friend's wedding, there was a little girl who thought the bride was Cinderella, and her dad told me that this girl had been excited for weeks because she was finally getting to go to Cinderella's ball. I caught the bouquet at this wedding (b/c I was really getting married next-she aimed for me. Ha!), and apparently this little girl was sad, because she wanted the flowers. So I gave her the bouquet after I took a few pictures with the bride, and she carried the bouquet around the rest of the night. It was really precious.
  • Also lots of kids danced at my reception. Little assholes. Dancing?!?!?!

  • We didn't invite kids to our wedding. H's cousin had a shit-fit, and we ended up letting kids come at the last minute. Her son was the least appropriately dressed person at the entire wedding (for some reason she managed to put herself in a long dress but thought khakis and polo would do for her son). So basically nothing about this whole situation was coming from a particularly happy place, and yet?

    My wedding was not ruined.
  • One of the only "legitimate" cases of child-ruining I remember here was from one of the regs (I don't remember whom). Someone had their guestbook/frame/plate/whateveritwas ruined by unsupervised little kids who wrote in marker all over it. I think she had a right to be pissed, although, that was more of a "ruined by stupid parents that can't watch their kids" than the kids themselves, IMO.

  • I cannot recall attending a wedding where a child caused any major problem.

(Disclaimer: we had an adults only wedding. At the time, all of our friends'/families' kids lived out of state and wouldn't have made the trip out to CA anyway.)
  • Cfas, that's so sweet.

When I was taking photos at the hotel with my bridesmaids a pack of little girls wandered in and plopped down on the floor to watch. So cute.
  • Tide, agreed. Stoopid parents who don't supervise their children.

  • My niece who was 16 months at the time kept yelling Titi (that's what she calls me) all through our ceremony. Because she wanted to be up with us. Brat runied my wedding.

    Heh. NOT SO MUCH.

  • I bet that I ruined my aunt's wedding when I was 3. I was the flower girl and went down the aisle by myself. When I got to the end I turned around and ran back down the aisle to my dad. He then carried me down the aisle while I was sucking my thumb! It must have truly ruined her wedding!

At my friend's wedding, the flower girl walked down the aisle with her tongue sticking out the whole time. It was hysterical!

I think this is the case more often then not. Kids don't know they're doing wrong unless the parent actually, you know, PARENTS.
  • Oh, I just remembered!

I was 2 when my uncle got married. During the reception, I decided I absolutely needed to be with my father (who was a groomsman), so I started shrieking until my grandmother let me run to him at the altar. Why no one took me to the back of the church to calm me down, I don't know. I do remember that I fell asleep as soon as my dad held me. I think most guests thought it was cute that I was so attached to him.

So I was the kid who ruined my aunt's wedding. She really hates me and my family (although not because of the wedding).

    I KNOW, RIGHT!! The nerve...

My flower girl was pretty cute. She was really excited at the rehearsal, and actually raised her hand when the pastor asked if there were any questions, and she said "This is fun!" Then at the wedding, she walked halfway down the aisle, then looked up and saw that everyone was looking at her, then kind of ran the rest of the way down the aisle to her parents.

She had a blast at the reception, though.

  • Okay, okay. After reading this thread maybe I should re-think my position on not having children at our wedding. Babies are one things..they are super adorable and cute. But can I really be made fun of for the fact that I'm worried about the toddlers attending? I think that is a legit concern.
  • This reminds me of the episode of Bridezillas where a kid fell in the lake and almost drowned. The bride dragged him out of the wedding and said "Thank you for ruining my day."
    Almost drowning = thunder stealing.

  • My flower girl didn't scatter flowers evenly. That biitch had to get put in her place. I made her take off her flower girl dress after the wedding - she just didn't deserve that "honor" anymore.
