Re: TELL ME ABOUT A TIME A CHILD RUINED YOUR WEDDING!!!

  • My dad has a new contraption in their kitchen which makes peanut butter in a blender. I'm very impressed.

  • Mr Panda once ruined a wedding when he was three. He got drunk on beer and then opened all the presents. This is actually a true story.

  • When I was younger I found Beta video tapes (yes, some of you all are too young to know what a beta is) - but I found them in my dads dresser and they were marked really lame names like, "AT&T equipment" and stuff like that.  So one day we were really bored and watched them.

Nothing about AT&T at.all!  My first experience with porn.

We had a lot of kids at our wedding, but not a lot of young kids.  One of the youngest ones was a total PITA because he's always really hyper and his mom is one of the worst parents ever.  In fact, he was stealing people's drinks from the tables and drinking them.  His mom thought it was funny.  Yeah, lady, I don't think CPS is going to think a drunk 4 year old is amusing.

That being said, our FG was the single cutest FG ever in creation.  And if you don't agree with me then you're obviously an evil, evil person inside and possibly a racist as well since she's part Puerto Rican.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • One time I went to a wedding and there were several kids there. A bunch of them decided to rig a bucket of pigs blood just above the sweetheart table and right as the bride and groom were about to thank everyone for coming, the bucket was tipped and splashed all over them. The bride had no choice but the burn the whole god damn venue down after that.

So yeah, I'd say that was ruined for sure.
  • I'm sorry, how is bitchlala different from lala?

Eek. The closest I came to finding parents porn was my dads few playboy magazines. I was horrified at the time.

I've attended a lot of weddings that had children and I've never seen any problems.

However, my cousins ran their fingers through my parents wedding cake before the cake pictures were taken.  My mom was pissed and to this day (almost 43 years later) she is VERY anti-kids at weddings.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I found my mom's when I was younger (the old school, plug in the wall kind) but I didn't know what it was for a long time.

  • I was a flower girl at my aunt's wedding when I was 2-3. The geniuses didn't have a rehearsal, and everyone and their mother kept telling me how awesome that I got to walk in first, that I'd be the first to walk into the church, blah blah blah
Well, once the wedding was over, I understood (even at that age) that this was all about the bride so I had no problem with her walking out first. HOWEVER, once my oldest cousin started following her (reverse order from entrance), I was NOT pleased. I started crying and screaming at the top of my lungs: "they stole walkance! they stole my walkance!"
Yep, I did kinda steal my aunt's thunder. She was not pleased at the time.
But over 20 years later, people still remember her wedding because of what I did. And she likes that :)

I had this same experience. My best friend and I were looking for something in the garage. We found a stack of 1970s Playboys instead.
The magic bullet/silver bullet confusion is right up there with the confusion of the Rabbit wine opener/Rabbit vibrator.  H and I had his old boss and his wife at our house one night, and I went to open a bottle of wine.  I asked H to go get me the rabbit out of the drawer, and his boss' wife gave me the weirdest look, until H brought over the Rabbit wine opener.   Clearly she has the other kind!
    Posted by dnbeach12
Oh man, a few years ago FI bought me The Rabbit (wine opener) for Christmas and a few days later my mom was asking me what I got. I started telling her and when I said "The Rabbit", I swear I saw this flash in her eyes. So I immediately was like, "You know, the wine opener kit?".

She pretended she knew, but I know what she really thought. The trauma.

Haha at least they were vintage. Mine weren't. I also remember how upset I was when my grandma told me she was encouraging about letting my dad & my two uncles order Playboy through the mail, because that way at least they were being healthy about it "in the house". Something I NEVER wanted to hear from my grandma, and I'm fairly certain my teenager dad/uncles didn't at the time either.

When my sister moved overseas, she had her "toy" in her carryon. She forgot to remove the batteries. She tried to brazen it out with Customs by passing the buzzing emitting from her bag off as a child's toy. Yeah, they weren't buying it. She was REALLY lucky in that they searched the bag but didn't wave that thing aloft.
  • The only time that a child even was a tad bit disruptive was my dad and step moms wedding. My step brother was the ring bearer and he was sick. He was standing up with the groomsman and started coughing and hacking. My grandma ran up grabbed him and ran him outside where he got sick. That wasn't his fault and didn't bother anyone involved. I hardly noticed and I was standing as a bridesmaid in that wedding.
