And really. What's the difference between Target and Walmart? One is red and white and the other is blue and white?
Posted by crfische
Target doesn't sell tobacco products.
• I *heart* Target.  Walmart seems very haphazardly laid out to me, and the aisles always seem really narrow.  That being said, however, I have no problem going to a Walmart if there isn't a Target near me.

Oh heck yeah, I do too. I just mean I can't buy groceries there, even though I do buy almost all canned goods there. Otherwise, my only choice is Wal-Mart.

• Our Walmart is always packed with people, long lines and it's always a mess.  I once had to go to the bathroom and that was a BAD idea.  It seems like the people in the store don't care about it.  They knock things off the shelf, their kids open packages and drop them on the floor and then there are the diapers..oye the diaper surprises.  It's just not a nice place to dash into.  I just get all my stuff at the grocery store or at Walgreens.  Even if some of the items are more expensive.  And fortunately there is a Nordstrom Rack and a Ross nearby so there really isn't a reason to run to the Target way on the other side of town.

I'd rather spend a little more and not have to deal with the disaster that is my local Walmart.

• My e-ring cost $150 online and has the smallest diamonds you'll probably ever see. That KPS chick would hate me and my ring for sure.

As for Walmart, I go there for the deals. I don't have a lot of money. And why shop if I don't have any money? Um, because I have to eat. That question doesn't even make sense.

As for the cheating/swinger one, those posts always bum me out. I honestly hate reading secrets about women cheating on their FI or DH and being proud of it. They clearly have no shame and I feel sorry for their partners.

• I hate, hate, hate Walmart.  But, that's because the ones I've had to deal with for years have the most unintelligent cashiers on the planet.  I can't stand to go in.  Target, on the other hand, seems to employ more intelligent people and thus the check out experience doesn't make me want a lobotomy.

The Boston area doesn't have many Walmarts, though, and thus far my Target experience hasn't been stellar.  So, I think it's also very regional.

That's how I am.  I'll pay a little more the quiet and convenience.  I paid more than I should have yesterday for an oil change but I was in and out in less than 15 minutes AND they vacuumed my car and cleaned my windows.  Yeah, I could have gone to Wal-mart for half the price, but it was totally worth it to me!

That's a shame. I'm sure it's totally based on location and management. There is one near where I used to live that is immaculate and seems to have way more selection of stuff. If I have the time, I go there. And then there are others where you feel like you need to shower afterwards.

• Yep, we don't have many Walmarts here in the Boston area, but I have spent my fair share of time in them and don't have a problem with them.  I have some issues with corporate Walmart of course, but I'd never judge anyone who shops there--we all need to save money and the store is very convenient.

The two Targets closest to me were 2 of the lowest rated Targets in America.  Thankfully, they redid the one in Watertown, so it is much nicer now.  I prefer Target to Walmart.  Target has tried very hard to market itself as the "reasonably priced place for chic, good buys," whereas Walmart just doesn't care:  they have the market share and they know it.
• I have three Wal-Marts and two Targets near me. One Wal-Mart is okay, one is a bit better, and the third is utter crap in terms of broken displays, insane customers, non-caring employees. But for some reason, they actually have a better selection in some departments.

Both Targets are good, but the one nearest me is awesome. It's huge and the employees actually seem to care.

We opted against an e-ring. My wedding ring belonged to FI's great-aunt. I need to get it resized and Zales will do it for $35. Kay quoted $110.

• My cousin worked for Wal-Mart and he had a stroke one day at work (completely randomly and not related to work) and they fired him while he was in the hospital, thus cutting off his medical benefits about a week into his 3 week stay. They said since he didn't show up for work, he abandoned his job. Wtf. He's still fighting with them and it's been 2 years.

They strike me as being concerned only about the bottom line, and having an attitude of so what if they treat their employees like crap, they can easily be replaced. The Wal-Mart near me did bring a lot of jobs when they built it, but it also brought more crime and traffic to our city. Around Christmas some lady was caught shoplifting with her 2 year old and fled the scene in handcuffs WITHOUT her child.  It's sad.

I do shop there but not often, but I also live on the same street as a 24 hour Kroger, which usually pans out cheaper for me than Target for groceries.

I don't like going to our Walmart.  It's dirty and there are never any lines open.  I never buy food there because I think their produce and deli sucks.  I drive about ten minutes extra to go to Target instead for general shopping and do all my grocery at a regular grocery store.   There are a few things I regularly buy that is significantly discounted at Walmart (cat food and Special K protein bars, specifically) from everywhere else, so I will go there when it's time to buy more.   But thast about it.

And the bridesmaid one?  I would like to believe that there are not women out there so spineless that when a person orders them to do something like lose weight, their immediate reaction is anything other than "fuuck off."

I live just a few blocks away from a Walmart, Kroger and Target. I usually go to Target if I need non-grocery items because there are less people and the shopping experience seems to be more enjoyable. The Walmart was a dump until they renovated it last month. The carts were so jacked up before you could barely push them. Now they have nice shiny new ones and seemed to have laid new flooring and widened the aisles.

I usually go to Kroger for groceries because I can check myself out with any number of items and there seems to be a few less people. However, they don't carry the family size of the Special K that we love and that drives me nuts! We eat a lot of cereal so we can really go through the normal boxes fast.

I don't judge people who shop at Walmart. I judge the people who shop at Walmart and let their out of control kids flail around on the ground screaming their heads off, ripping stuff off of the shelf, opening the makeup, and don't say a word to them. That goes for any store. ;-)
